Thank you all for your kind advice and birthday wishes ❤️! So because everyone was leaning towards choosing the handbag, I went into the shop again to take another look at that bag. And to my surprise, other than the underside of the flap, the interior lining of the handbag was all fabric! I took a pic of the inside of the black version.

Now I'm not sure whether this is normal, but for the corresponding WOC, almost the entire lining, card slots etc, is leather. That gives the impression that the handbag is lower quality?
At a similar price point, are mini flap bags leather lined? Or also fabric?

Tbh I'm a bit disappointed because I had almost made up my mind to change to the handbag, now I'm undecided again 😂

While I was there I took random pics. Thought it would be good eye candy.
happy belated birthday :yahoo:

Wow, I never thought about the interior lining for my Chanel bags, which is surprising because I’m quite OCD :whut:

Some of mine are lined with leather while others have a fabric lining.

Off the top of my head, I know my GST, Drawstring/Bucket bag, Deauville and Boy bags have fabric.
I can’t recall what my Maxi has.
All my other Chanel bags, including WOCs, are lined with leather, however the WOCs have minimal fabric.

I personally don’t believe this impacts quality, and maybe someone more knowledgeable knows why some have fabric while others have leather.

Thinking of my own collection, this is what I notice:
- small to medium bags have leather
- medium to large bags have fabric

So perhaps it’s due to weight? A larger bag with leather lining would be heavier than one with fabric…

My first Chanel bag purchase was almost 20 years ago - it has fabric lining and has held up great.

Hope this helps, if even a little bit. Did you end up purchasing one?

@sunshineshiney: Thank you so much for sharing your insights! Your collection sounds amazing 🤩! It's a relief to know that fabric linings held up well for almost 2 decades!

I agree that fabric helps keep the bag lightweight for larger bags for practicality. But for smaller bags I think it's more of a cost issue. More expensive small bags will be leather lined.

The small bag I'm interested in is on the lower end of the price range for Chanel handbags, coming in a tiny bit more than a classic no frills mini flap (which is still an insane amount). So they fabric lined it. (Hence why I'm interested if other recently released minis got fabric lining or it's just luck of the draw).

The corresponding WOC on the other hand, comes in the mid-higher price range for WOCs. So it's got more leather compared to other WOCs. (I've learnt that WOCs also come fully fabric lined and sometimes silk lined).

So did I keep the "better quality" WOC in the end? No, I exchanged for the handbag, and here's my reasoning:

I'll start by saying that it was a heart wrenching moment when I handed over the WOC for the exchange 💔. By that time I've had the WOC in my possession for a week. I had fallen in love with it and was about to name it Squishy.

I still stand by my claim about quality. Though they are both lambskin and look similar in photos, they feel very different. The WOC (MIF) was soft and matte and delicate. The handbag (MII) was shinier, puffier, had a thicker finish, and therefore felt hardier.

I loved the texture of the WOC and every time I opened it it brought me joy, but I knew that every time I used it it'll give me grief 😂. The WOC was adorable. It was like a baby. It needed to be babied. I couldn't bear the inevitable signs of wear and tear, especially the U-shaped top ("bowing" effect) from the way all WOCs bear weight. For me, it's very noticeable from afar.

And then there was the capacity difference. I had to take off my phone case in order to fit what I needed inside the WOC, it felt like a brick in the end.

But the fundamental, and very superficial reason for my decision was that the handbag just "looked" better on the outside. It was better proportioned on my frame (5'6"). When I posed with different outfits it looked better in every photo imo. If this handbag didn't exist I would happily put outfits together with the WOC and I would think it looks perfect. But I can't unsee how the handbag looked on me. And I couldn't rationalize choosing the WOC based on texture and what's on the inside, but is mostly going to sit on the shelf for fear and inconvenience of using it.

It was a hard choice, and after I exhausted everyone I could ask an opinion from, I asked my daughter. She picked the handbag over the WOC. Her reason was: because it's SQUISHY. And that's the end of Old Squishy's stay in the family, and in came New Squishy. (Yes I took fashion advice from someone whose full collection of handbags consists of a fuzzy watermelon crossbody and a Cat on Chain) 😬

To be honest I regret my choice a little bit. My advice? 1) Don't let yourself fall in love with a bag you might exchange, even if you know you'll love the other one even more. 2) Don't start on the Chanel journey, you'll definitely end up with more than one. (I really miss that WOC...)

Oh geez I'm so long winded 🫣

I think the handbag is a better choice between the two! I have a WOC and I do love it but I struggle for space. I do wear it daily to work, because I put my other necessary items like my glasses and sunglasses in my laptop bag instead. Or or comes in really handy for events in tight spaces or as a clutch to an event. But on the weekends, I always need a slightly bigger bag.

Does anyone l know what the colours are I am looking at? 🥹 the brown and beige had champagne cold I’m curious… should’ve looked at the tags 😭
I only know the dark beige one, if it's from the latest season, has the colour code NZG77. Chanel doesn't seem to name each of their specific colours, similar tones might be called the same name but may have different colour code? Unique to each season. But I'm no expert

Thanks for the confirmation I had made the right choice 😘! If I had to make it work I would use 2 bags as well. I researched all these products to allow me to maximize use of the WOC (tried 2 different base shapers, chain shortening methods that doesn't decrease space as much, leather strips to prevent wear on the 2 sides from the chain, etc).
It does look more like a night out bag/clutch but I rarely go to events like that.
I couldn't really use it for travel and bang it around like everyone else with black/caviar WOCs, so it would become even less useful.

I purchased this bag last week from 24B. It’s the regular size (there is also a small size).
I’ve been looking for a medium sized seasonal flap bag that checks all of my boxes for a while. A back pocket that fits my phone, big enough to fit my mini iPad, and with an adjustable chain that’s long enough to wear as a crossbody on my 5’8 frame. The burgundy color was the icing on the cake!
I also love that it has a vintage Diana look!!

Great size and beautiful burgundy! Never saw it in this color b4 (they only had the black one for this size in the boutiques I went to). I was convinced it's a Diana variation style as well, but another SA said it was a look inspired by Chanel 31 🤔. Love it regardless ❤️

I could definitely see the connection to the 31 in a way… but they definitely paid an homage to the Diana lol. 😆 My SA told me that before they got it in, they were wondering if it was going to be a Diana re-issue.
This bag comes in 6 or 7 colors. And they seem to be trickling in really slowly. I only saw the Burgundy, Black, and Beige color in store. But I know it also comes in Red, Khaki, and Navy. All iterations come in full Lambskin, and Lambskin with the patent trim, except for the Burgundy that I’m aware of. The patent trim put me on the fence about keeping it, but I love the color too much, and I don’t think the small amount of patent should be an issue. Thank you! I love it too!

Happy Birthday! Personally my favourite chanel bag of all time is the WOC lol. I have the medium boy and a chanel classic flap. Of the 3 bags my most used by far is my wallet on chain. If I travel, thats my one bag. it has a hidden compartment for my passport and cash (cannot be pickpocketed because its behind the bag itself), for a day out i put it inside my larger work tote or baby bag and grab it, for quick errands (grocery/shopping) it works similar to the lululemon belt bag (super light, almost weightless and not cumbersome when your hands are full of groceries and bags, its perfect for weddings and girl dinners too. there is no event where you cannot use that bag. it was my first ever chanel bag and is my most worn still 7 years later.

The handbag is similar to mini rectangle but smaller in depth (doesn't jut out as far from the body but a bit taller). Price is very similar as well.

It's my first and may be only(?) Chanel, so really can't decide which to get. WOC seems a bit more durable somehow (it's heavier, more structured with reinforced edges). They both have turn locks (my favorite part). The handbag is hollow, lightweight and squishy lol but I love the look of it as well, especially the strap attachment. The chain straps are identical in width. I was told to ignore the price difference (35% more for the handbag...) as it's a birthday treat.

Sorry, probably posting under the wrong thread, but I do love admiring everyone else's purchases and hoping to get some advice at the same time.
