Asscher cut diamonds anyone?

I was told the most important C in a diamond is the Cut - if it is cut the right way it actually makes a small stone look bigger and sparklier. My ering is an assher and even though it is not big DH made sure it has all the right Cs. I don't know if it looks smaller than another diamond of a different style, personally I'd like my ring to look clear and sparkly, rather than large but dull/white. It has gotten so much compliment in the past few years because of how unique and classy the diamond is. I have it set on an X prong so light can come through from the bottom. I'd say go for it, and pay special attention to the cut and how you set it.

My mom has an asscher cut diamond set in a pretty awesome way- with two triangular points reflecting the pyramid bottom of the cut... the only bad thing about asscher is sacrificing carat for size. the thing to look for is one with less carat and a larger face (dimension).

Ditto.

I was choosing between a 1.60 and a 1.85 and the 1.6 definitely looked bigger because it had a larger face. I chose the 1.6 of course. (E/VVS1)

A tip from my Dad. If going for carat weight...say you want a 2.0ct, go for one that is 1.96 because there won't be much of a difference in how it looks but the price difference will be enormous. A 1.99 will be in a different price category from a 2.0ct.

e.g. Solitaire D/VVS1
1.00-1.49ct category is $8,800 per carat = total for the 1.49ct is $13,112
1.50-1.99ct category is $10,700 per carat = total for the 1.5ct is $16,050
