Hi TE!

You know I was wondering last week why we didn't have a thread like this but then I got distracted and forgot, lol!

My question is I am going on vacation to NYC this week with my girlfriends to celebrate a birthday. I understand the va-ca can't be all about me so as one of my choices for activities I chose Bergdorf-Goodman since they have Tano but lots of other brands as well. I figure I could give my friends a lot of variety while I fondle Tano bags. My question is are BG's bags standard Tano's or are they slightly varied like Anthropologie? TIA! :flowers:

BGs bags are pretty much standard. They used to request no little tano tag outside and no graffiti label inside, but Tano did away with both of those things last season anyway.

BG ordered some bags in ripple (crinkle patent version of crunch), which Tano cancelled for its own production but still made some for BG.

Call ahead to find out what they have... ask for Zoe in the 5F department. (5th floor- young designers- thats where Tano is, not on the main level with all the high priced bags.)

If you really want to see a BIG selection of Tano bags (all standard) check out BAG in soho. Its practically a Tano store! Its in a great shopping area- lots of cool boutiques and cafes for you and your friend to enjoy.
Have fun!

Hi TE,

Thanks for answering all these questions for us.

I read in another thread that the original boogie may not come back this spring. Have you heard any updates and do you know when we might know for sure about the fate of the boogie? Thanks!

^^At the moment, the boogie is NOT in the Spring lineup. I hope that it, as well as some other Tano favorites, will be added to the Spring collection at Tano's next trade show. As soon as I know anything more, Ill be sure to post it as a new thread here in the Tano SF.

From my understanding, rising costs in leather, labor, hardware, and transportation and weakening currency exchanges are driving up the prices on old Tano standards like the boogie. So if Tano does offer it again next season, the price will be higher than it is now.

Hi TE, I just called BG and asked for Zoe. The SA never heard of Zoe, could it be Zuley? Anyway, she didn't know anything about Ripple Patent either. hmmmmm

interesting comment from TE regarding the rising cost of production of the Boogie...there is another thread posted by imabagaddict commenting on the thinness of the trim on her new truffle Boogie....maybe they are starting to produce lesser quality bags to save money? I certainly hope not - that thick Boogie trim is what really makes the bag!

zoouly... yes, it could be- sorry, I thought it was Zoe.

Anyway, she is (was?) a FT associate in the accessories section on the 5th floor, so she knows a bit about the Tano bags... they may not know the name "ripple" but maybe if you ask if they have any Tano bags in crinkle patent they could give you the names/numbers of what they have.

WM, no offense, but lets keep this thread to my questions and answers only... no chat, ok? Thanks!

(And BTW I totally disagree with your comment. Tano has been IMPROVING the quality of their bags every season for the past 6 years!)

Hi TE, thanks for giving us all a thread to ask you questions!!

Are velvet leather bags mostly coming in Fall 2 release? I'm really looking forward to seeing what Sapphire is going to look like!

TE...thanks again for this thread...

I have a jettsetter from a few seasons ago. Would you say the velvet leather is similiar to the type of leather used on the jettsetter? Thanks

No, its not at all similar. The jet setter was made of TAG leather which was smoother in grain and squishier in feel than velvet. The tag leather was also more monochromatic in color.
