Asians and Colors

I'm Taiwanese too (Hey Panda!), and I love black, white/ivory, grey, navy blues, and reds.

Red really compliments Asian skintones and provides that splash of color. Purple hues work well too. I've been buying a ton of purple sweaters (and I love purple eyeliners).

I kind of said this in the orange thread, but it just depends because Asians can have all types of skin tones. Like anyone else, you just have to find the shades of whatever color that suit you. There is a shade of every basic color that works well for me, meanwhile I don't look good in magenta, lavender, or light blue. I have a just slightly goldish yellow top that works well for me, and I know a Vietnamese girl who wears every shade of yellow and looks great.

My point is, try lots of different things on and don't cut any entire color family from your closet because you are afraid of it! There are infinitely many colors you can find to wear.

Best colors for dark little me are green, cream, warm medium grey, brown and anything brownish including taupe and dusty pinks, deeper/green blue, white, deeper red. Some really bad colors for me are mint, cool light grey, magenta, sky blue, lipstick red. Basically warm is good, cool is bad, but some Asians are the opposite.

Khaki is okay..tan is not okay...I have a khaki trench coat and it doesn't wash me out..but I am really pale so that may be why. For a medium asian skin tone, khaki may not be a good choice.

I forgot to mention, lilac/lavender looks fabulous on asian skin tones, particularly lighter skintones!

I used to have the same issues when I was in high school, so my color choices back then were pretty limted...pretty much white, blue, black grey. But when I was in college I started to try out more colors and viola!! Now I wear almost every color!! Except orange, I have a hard time with it. I can do orange-red but not straight orange. Also I have to say some colors don't look good on me when I'm pale (like winter time), so I'll avoid those certain colors when my skin is lighter. I think Asian in general can wear pretty much any colors, because most of us have the olive skin tone. I think as long as the colors don't make you look very pale or blends in with your skin tone, then it's okay. If you're just starting out to try different colors, trust me, it takes time to get used to it. But once you get into groove, you'll love colors! Hope all these helps

I'm Asian (Chinese) and there are so many different skintones among us. For example, I'm pretty pale, but my friend is naturally very tan, and my boyfriend is tan as well. I don't choose colors based on my race in particular, but more based upon my skintone (although my summer tan does differ from my vampire white winter skin lol). I would say that there isn't a "good" or "bad" color for "asians" in particular, I think you should choose colors based on the your unique color of your skin. Sometimes when I'm considering a specific color, I ask my friends who are similar in skintone to me for their advice/opinion on the color, and they aren't necessarily Asian.

i am on the pale side...my face has a light pink undertone...so i can't wear anything pink, look very washed out.
i like dark color...black, blue/navy, like red, purple accessories....i avoid brown..since all asians have this yellow undertone. i do find some darker asians look amazing with bright color even yellow.

I think it also depends on the skin tone... Are you more towards lighter or darker? I have light and pinkish skin, so I like to wear black and darker color and tend to stay away from yellowish colors. My husband likes when I wear white and have my hair down but I think it makes me look more yellowish. I have seen south-east Asian ladies wearing bright pink and it looks so fresh on them! On me i just look... Ugly lol. So I think it also depends on your skin tone kwim? (but i think to Asians green is v hard to wear in general)

One color that I particularly love on Asian girls is ivory/cream. Looks great with the contrasting dark hair, porcelain light skin, andddd always looks timeless and classy.
