Are Coach leather bags respected?

I love the leather on (most) Coach bags, and yummy leather is what I love about a nice bag --- so that is a major reason I like Coach. I like the affordability too -- it's a nice bag and feels like a splurge but doesn't cost the same as a month's rent on a nice apartment. :D

Congrats on your Riley, that is a beautiful color and a really good price!

My first contemporary designer bag was a coach poppy dark brown with the C's, very durable and I never got a spot on it. I bought it when I was 15 and I stopped using it about two years ago so about two months ago I decided to sell it, sad to let it go but we need to move on, on its place I got also, a dark brown, but named as midnight oak phoebe and I totally love it, I already got over the letters and now as an adult I wanted to incorporate leather in my wardrobe. So, long story short, if you love the bag just go for it, and like others said, maybe nobody will even know what brand it is, but the luxury of the leather will stand out by its own! I only own three bags mk, coach and a DB and I dont care about the brand but the quality, price and brand has nothing to do with quality FYI :D

Where I live, it seems like everybody loves Coach. It's considered a well respected brand.

Unless you are in an environment where premier designer bags are the norm, I would be proud to carry a leather Coach bag. The bonus is you would probably not look like you were showing off.

I've been carrying this vintage cutie for the past week or so and I love it! The only way you can tell its Coach is the little hang tag, but I prefer to fly below the radar, myself. I have seen a few people eyeing it trying to figure out what brand it is. My mom thought it was brand new and expensive!

I have fancy bags and also Coach bags. I used Coach when i was very young, went away for years and am back in a big way. I totally respect their leather bags. The look great and are great quality.

The are making some very elegant designs and i am proud to carry them. No worries.

You'd have to be a total fool to sneer at the soft, buttery leather on their Madison line. Absolutely beautiful leather bags that I proudly share the same closet space with my higher end bags.

I'm one of those rare few that actually loves the signature pattern :blushing: I would guess it's because the first "nice" bag I ever got was a signature brown crossbody that was a gift from my dad for reaching my weight loss goal (I was obese as a teenager and lost over 100 lbs) and I just felt so proud and in love with that bag that I couldn't get enough. Not necessarily just the jacquard either, I love the sateen, rhinestone, scribble, and patent versions as well.

I was actually pretty sad when I discovered that coach was moving away from their "C" patterns onto leather. At the time I thought that plain old leather sounded boring, but just last week my brothers gifted me my first leather coach for my birthday, and I gotta say it's not boring at all :graucho:

Although to be honest, if you're looking for a "status symbol", Coach probably isn't going to cut it. Their bags are beautiful and quality, but everyone and their teenage daughter (at least where I live) owns one or two or three. There's nothing wrong with that of course, but most people won't be super impressed that you own a coach, unless it's one of the exotic or ultra rare limited edition ones. Just buy what you love, if you carry it with pride then you'll look a lot more confident than any bag can make you look.:smile1:

When I said "status symbol", I didn't mean that I thought Coach bags were, I was justifying my moment of caring what other people think :p

Yeah, I do have some signature bags that I find pretty ugly now but can't bear to part with because of the sentimental value. Still not used to the transition to leather but I love the high quality of the pieces! My Riley is surprisingly higher quality than similar bags I own from Kate Spade and Rebecca Minkoff! (And thus begins a new love affair)

Congrats on your new purchase! :smile1:
I think it's a great pick, but all that really matters is how you feel about it. If you're worried that people won't know it's a Coach bag, you can always add a siggy scarf or keychain.

The Mini Riley is such a cute bag and blocking with different textured leather in the same color is really classy and unique. Congratulations.
