Are backpack purses back in style?

Why don't you get an inexpensive trendy look one to wear and see how you feel? I've been seeing this trend come back for a bit now, but I also think it's all in what you feel comfortable with. Some are really confident and would feel awesome bringing this trend back, while others may feel it's taking them back to their school days way too much. Me personally, I'm not sure. Maybe if it was LV or Chanel lol.

I was doing the school drop off today and another mom had the Louis Vuitton Bosphore backpack. I rushed home to find it online, and it's $2,000! My husband will refuse to spend the money on something he sees as a trend. I'm thinking that an LV backpack purse would be stylish even if backpack purses aren't in style, but I don't know.

My mom always told me that it would be easy to steal from a purse backpack, but my Coach backpack had a drawstring and a flap with a latch. It was pretty hard to get your hand in there when it was closed, and I could definitely feel someone tugging on it if someone tried to open it.

But I don't know if backpacks have staying power. :shrugs:

Maybe you can look for a pre-owned LV Monogram Montsouris Backpack. I see a lot of them out there on consignment sites. I like it better than the Bosphore. I used to have the GM and it was great. Now I'm sorry I sold it ages ago.

I have to say, I like the new MK Lisbeth leather backpack bag. It's on the website and in the boutiques. I didn't take a close look but I'm curious if its got the built-in wallet on the back.

That's great advice! I think I will probably do that. The Bosphore seemed a bit small.

Seeing your thread reminded it I bought a backpack last year. I pulled it out to go walking for hours and wanting to be hands free.

Thanks ! I bought it at the village tannery in NYC last year. What I love is it is all leather even the inside slip pocket and the inside zip pocket. It has a zip pocket against your back too. It has a drawstring and real buckle closures. So yesterday when I walked in crowds of people I knew my stuff was secure.

Sighhhh…. I cringed when I saw the Chanel backpack hit a few seasons ago. Being of an age that lived through grunge, the 90s and fashion backpacks that ended up the size of a wallet on strings, I begged the lord to please not make me want another backpack. But, alas, they are back (pack)! I am still working hard to refrain from this trend. I really hope my strength endures.

I will say they are adorable on younger women, throwing to a casual, student look. I also think they will only gain in popularity over the next several seasons.

But one will not reenter my closet if I have anything to say about it… :push:

No interests in backpacks. I'd look like the Hunchback of Notre Dame. :nogood:

Back in the day, we carried book bags (think gym bags) to school. Backpacks didn't come into "vogue" until about 10 years after I graduated.

Hahahahaha! I graduated high school in 1998 & remember the teeny tiny backpacks. Worst trend ever...

Although I will say I admired a nylon Prada backpack recently (normal backpack size) on a woman who told me that it was her ultimate Mom bag since it fits everything & wipes clean at the end of the day. That, I can see. Although I don't think you could wear it anywhere that isn't casual. Even the fanciest backpack in the universe looks wrong in upscale situations.

So true everyone! I graduated high school in 1999 and remember very well wearing giant overalls, baby doll tees, yellow work boots, a backpack with a dark lip and a scrunchie on my wrist. Aaahhhhhh, those were the days. I have had money to spend on an Lv backpack for ages but have been hesitating because it's a BACKPACK! I found some vintage gold bamboo etageres and spent my money on that instead! :)
