Hello everyone,

My name is Valerie and I wonder if you could help me please.

Below is a link to pictures of a Hermes Birkin bag which I have recently come into possession of.

My eye caught this lovely bag in a local charity shop which I purchased as I thought it looked so lovely. I didn't realise that it might be a genuine Hermes handbag. When I was home I was quite surprised when I started to look on the internet at the prices of original Hermes Birkin bags, and even Hermes Birkin replica bags for that matter!

I am trying to authenticate the bag and have looked on various websites to do this. The bag is 35cm, black with gold hardware. It came with one key but there was no lock with it. The orange Hermes tag was still on the bag and had plastic cellophane on the handles which makes me think that it is relatively new. Although, I know that Hermes original bags don't come with orange tags etc, I would like to know if there is value in this bag.

Also, the lining of the bag is quite unusual and I haven't seen it in other bags. It is black with a lovely soft suede material with Hermes and the picture logo stamped/embossed all over it. The leather of the bag itself seems quite hard/stiff and not soft at all.

Please kindly help to authenticate this Hermes Constance 23 with thank. My question is buyer state that the bag is [P] Stamp but inside the bag has only one layer. However, as I used to see all constance bag for currently year O and P Stamp, all of them is only 2 layers inside. I gonna get the bag on Wednesday, Please kindly help with many thank. Do Hermes change style of Constance bag of this year to be like vintage bag? Please kindly advice.

Please pay attention to getting the details of your post correct in future, the sellers name is tdkkt3. We track bags according to the seller.

There are insufficient pictures shown here. For Constance a side view of the bag and picture showing lining leather texture and clear close up of the engraving are needed. Frankly at this kind of price point a blind stamp picture should also be shown.

If you get proper pictures please include a full reference again when you post.

This wasn't even a very good fake, by the way. And there are many reputable resellers if you search. Please take some time to research your seller. At these dollar values, you don't want to make an expensive mistake and on a site like CraigsList, or Kijiji, where is your buyer's protection?

I agree with you. There is no buyer protection when it comes to these kinds of kijiji or craigslist purchases. Thats why im very thankful that you lovely ladies have his authentication thread. I always believed in taking a look at the product in person before buying however my lack of knowledge on hermes items is of concern. If only getting a birkin would be as easy as walking into the H store.

There are plenty of authentic bags out there being offered by reputable sellers if you can't or won't get a bag at an Hermes store.

If you are serious about buying a resale bag, can I suggest that you take the time to educate yourself who the reputable sellers are and why? It is dangerous to meet an online seller with the kind of cash that was being asked for in the Kijiji listing, hoping that you will be able to tell in person if the bag is legit.
