Cool Bunny, I'll give it a shot. I'll test it on the bottom of the bag. I'm getting brave with the Apple now. I just Appled two of my bags this week (my first time using Apple products) and now it's not so scary anymore. Haha!

Hi Everyone,
I typically just lurk and admire everyone's beautiful bags! But had a question.. I have tried searching for it and just can't seem to find my answer. I just purchased the Madison Hippie in black leather (and I love her!!) and anyway the sales gal told me that I couldn't use anything on the leather. Do you ladies think I could Apple Condition her?? Or even use the spray?? I just want to make sure this bag is protected. If I used this on her, would it ruin the shine??? TIA!

I never use anything on a new bag... They have a coating and will keep well..

Now when the leather gets dry or dirty I will Apple Condition it but alway run a test somewhere on the bag that does not show...

Look at the care card if it states wipe clean that is what I do.. Some leather does not do well with treatments..

I've used Apple on everything, including Madison leather, with no ill results. Always spot check first. Now this is for conditioner, NOT cleaner. I generally do not use leather "cleaners" regardless of brand because they tend to be harsh. I use the conditioner and rain and spray stain guard.

Actually the Apple conditioner has some cleaning benefits as well.

From thier site:

Leather Care
A wax-free leather conditioner specially
formulated to gently clean, condition,
and preserve finished, exotic, naked,
and simulated leathers.

• Will not darken finished leather.
• Safe to use on light colored leather.
• Recommended for use on all exotic
skins and leathers.
• Follow up with Garde Rain & Stain
Repellent for added protection.

I'm with CA on this one. I follow what's on the card. I have over 60 bags & haven't had a problem yet.

I've Appled (conditioner and spray) every Coach bag I have, including my walnut and bone Haileys which are also the Madison leather. They look great, no problems at all. ITA you should always spot-test first.

Thank you all for the great advice. I am going to test spot it first.. I just wanted to be sure that I wouldn't ruin my bag by doing this. Thanks again, you ladies are wonderful!

Okay, anyone know what to do to treat a gold Hailey? On my regular leather bags I always use Apple conditioner and spray, and if it were regular metallic like the Peyton I'd just use the spray, but the metallic seems to be sealed into the leather - the bag is completely smooth. I'm afraid to wear her without some kind of protectant, just not sure whether to go with spray only or conditioner and spray.

TIA!
