Has anyone used the Apple Garde Rain & Stain Repellent on the Parker Hippies? Will it be ok?... the leather is sort of different on this bag and I'm afraid to try it.

cz beat me to it, but yes! She advised me that she used it on her parker shoulder bag so I used it on my cinnamon hippie (has the same "shimmer" as her pink one) and it's great! Water just rolls right off and it still looks brand new. Except for the wrinkles it had when it was new (and people were worried about) those are all gone and the leather is soft and smooth :D

so which apple stuff can I use on my berry sabrina? Plus I want to use it on my teal one too and espresso. so which ones can I use on them. Thank u thank u
Do not use Cleaner - as others seem to have mentioned.

I love the apple care moisturizer and use it on all my leather! Usually, I use apple guarde (rain and stain repellent) then apple care. With my Sabrina, the 1st thing I did was apple care to enhance the color. Then I did the rain and stain, and condition again afterward because the repellent can be a little drying - not much, but the conditioner livens up the color more.
I use those products on berry, but same goes with the other colors in the Madison line.

I purchase my Ali Hippie a few weeks ago and it is amazing. But it was super dirty so today, I made a little time and cleanded it. I cleaned first Apple Cleaner all over and then I used the Apple Conditioner. Man this bag looks amazing.

Does the conditioner actually clean as well or if a bag is dingy, should you try to clean it first, then condition it?

My White ergo large hobo is getting dingy-ish and I was thinking of just using warm soapy water and then try the apple conditioner (that I am yet to buy). Also, any recommendation on what kind of soap to use (e.g. Dove bodywash, dishwashing detergent, shampoo, etc.)?

Also, my legacy Leighs are looking "ashy", I assume the apple conditioner would be the ideal fix for that right?

I need to hunt this stuff down at burlington!

I gotta tell ya--I am amazed at this stuff. I used it for the first time this weekend. I used it on my very first Coach--a black, leather bucket bag that I carried like every day for YEARS. There were scratches on it, and the corner seams were grayish (as you mentioned). The bag practically looks new now. It is seriously amazing. I also used it on a Coach laptop bag as old as my bucket bag. This one was more than grayish--the corners were more like white and worn through. The Apple didin't make it perfect, but pretty friggin' close. At the recommendation of the other tpfer's I used the Rain repellent on a Hippie that has that really soft, sparkly leather, and it worked just fine.

Go for it! You won't be sorry. I got mine at Burlington Coat Factory. Had to hunt through the store to find it, so look hard. :)

Great- thanks! Do you try to wash yours first with soapy water or did you go straight to it with the conditioner?

cause i need re-assurance(even tho i read this entire thread) cause im very nervous bout gettin apple conditioner..
even tho it says on the care card that they recommend the coach moisturizer, should i return it? (cause silly me got it already and then read this thread about the silicone being bad lol )
and if i do return it... i plan on gettin the conditioner and the apple rain and stain guarde. but should i also get the cleaner as well?
oh yeah. my bag is a parchment zoe and i googled for the longest time as to what kind of leather is that(the care card dont help much and says its a specialty leather ) ... i was wondering if anyone new?
thanks in advance!

Help girls! After reading this thread I'm totally freaking out now! My mom got a Coach moisturizer from the store, and she told me to put it on all the bags. I normally hang out on the Botkier/RM forums, so I didn't read all these posts about coach moisturizer not being good for the bags due to the silicone etc. Anyway, AFTER I used it on ALL my bags (including a very expensive MJ that is supposed to be my graduation present), I thought I should do a board search on the Coach forums and found this thread!

Anyway, I'm really worried now because I read that in the long run the coach moisturizer will harm my bags. What can I do in the meantime to help them, other than not using the moisturizer anymore?

Also, I had some problems with color bleeding while I was using the Coach moisturizer on my bags. The color on most of my bags came off when I was using the moisturizer, not a lot but I'm paranoid (and not to mention that I'm a student so to me my bags are not cheap!)...Now I'm wondering, does this mean the color on my bags is going to keep bleeding? I've used the bags before I used the moisturizer on them, and never have had any bleeding problems. I'm now worried I might've used something on my bags that will make them bleed!

Any advice or comments will be welcome and very helpful to me! I'm freaking out right now, because every single one of my bags is now officially coated in silicone! Sorry for the freaking-out-now post, but I hope you will understand my feelings!

I don't have any suggestions, but to help you freak out less, some brands actually recommend silicone moisturizers. I was reading about leather care in the Bottega Veneta thread, and they suggest a silicone spray to protect some bags. So don't worry too much.

Thanks for the reassurance, I've told myself that conditioning my bags ONCE with silicone won't ruin them forever (I hope!), so things will still be OK - I just won't use it again.

However I'm still worried about the color bleeding, I'm worried about this since fully half the bags I conditioned with the coach moisturizer bled onto the cloth, although it was only a little. Is this normal regardless of whichever moisturizer I use, or is this particular to coach and abnormal when moisturizing a bag? Also does this mean that the color is very likely to run off my bag when I use it in future?

Many thanks!! As you can see I have many questions and don't know the answers to any of them! Thank goodness for the wonderful ladies on TPF :)
