Appalled and Disgusted at the Quality of my new Mini Chyc Cabas!!

I would not trust a local cobbler with repairing a bag for $2000+. I'm sure they can reattach it but they usually use glue that smells from a mile away and I doubt it would look as good as new. If they stuff it up, YSL won't be able to help after that. I would take the bag back and pursue YSL for a replacement and a refund on all postage costs.

Does it matter that you contacted the US online customer service? They couldn't have forwarded your inquiry to head office? That's the least they could do for customer service.

Gosh maybe Hedi Slimane's mannerisms and snobbiness has translated to customer service as well.

Agree totally. Is there a reason why you can't even find their head office contact details anywhere online?

No doubt about it. It has translated into everything. I think the new policy is that any publicity is good publicity.

I had THIS same problem with Miu Miu Paloma bag which was my holy grail bag for 2 years until I bought it. After 2 weeks the top handle just fell off, the metal rivets were not at all able to withstand the weight of the bag itself (I carried almost nothing in it at first, and it was bought as a school bag with the idea that I will carry my work stuff in it).

I had back and forth "not able, can not repair", tried repair store in Canada to put steady rivets, they did not have matching hardware colour ....

then I broke into pieces and I RETURNED IT for a full refund although I lost a lot in this transaction !!! And FORGOT that I have EVER loved that bag dearly

YSL is equally bad with customer service and SA services YUK

There is a neverending list of brands which have quality going down the drain with every new season:

1. Mulberry
2. Miu Miu
3. SLP
.
.
.
.

I now boldly go on ebay and find good old forever lasting great bags, buffalo or nappa from Miu Miu, YSL old generation, Mulberry Darwin leather bags .....nothing new for me thank you, for those sky high prices you get garbage and gently used forever lasting, still in style, bag you can find for a 1/4 of the original price ...patina on buffalo and nappa of older Miu Miu styles is what makes them beautiful, Mulberry old leathers show character with age, old YSLDowntown and Muses (even Mombasas) look better with age, nothing tearing ever

Thank you for everyone's responses

The place I brought the bag in for repairs is a leather and bag shop which was recommended to me by Cultstatus - who sells Balenciaga, Valentino, YSL, Alexander McQueen and many other brands.

So fingers crossed that it will turn out good >__<

I am just not prepared to go to anymore trouble and stress over this problem.

I am thoroughly disappointed with the service and after service of Saint Laurent. Although I have never dealt with YSL before the name change so I can't compare but the only reason I went on a crazy YSL phase this year was because of the news about the name change. I bought the "Y" clutch, this black mini cabas and the Arty ring before they all become obsolete.

I shall now turn my attention back to Chanel, Balenciaga and Dior. Booking my tickets to Paris in September soon! I can't wait!!

I swear I will never buy a SLP product from here on out!

I will post photos after I pick up my bag from repairs! Fingers crossed >__<

ooohhh... realy really bad service!!! i promised myself i won't buy a thing after the name change and i'm glad i did good to that promise (even though a duffle is still honey to my eyes).. that is just unacceptable!! i hope the cobblers will do a better job than SLP but even if it's repaired, everytime you use it, the frustrations and all anxiety will just come rushing back...

maybe that's why they took off the Y in YSL.. so you can't ask Y. (Y they won't issue refund., Y they won't issue a repair)
bad joke in light of the circumstances, i know, just wanna make u smile. :)

:roflmfao:

Or Y they don't have decent customer service if they call themselves a luxury brand?

Hope it turns out great! I´ve taken luxury bags to local cobblers and it turned out perfectly! As for chanel, I would be vary and really inspect the bag before I bought it. I´ve had some servere stitching issues with my more recent chanel bags which has put me off the brand. Doesn´t mean you´ll have the same problems but just inspect the bag carefully before taking the plunge. :smile1:

I am appalled. A luxury brand that won't do this isn't a luxury brand at all. Heck even mass market brands are better than this; sometimes they send you a brand new product.

So true my cousin got a new replacement Coach since they were not able to repair her bag!

What a complete turn off... I have put off getting mine because I have been eyeing something else. Hope it all works out in the for OP!

Thank you everyone for your responses!!

In the end the local cobbler cannot repair my bag to look like the original so I decided to get SLP to repair the bag for me.

SLP Japan gave me their DHL account number so I can courier the bag back to them on their cost!

I sent the bag back on Monday and it should arrive there today.
Fingers crossed I will have the bag back soon in its original condition!

It is just frustrating to deal with a non-english speaking country :(

Lucky my Japanese is ok enough to get by and for more complicated things, I had a good friend that is willing to help me translate. Most communication was made via emails.

Fingers crossed!! >__< Best scenario is if they just send me back a brand new bag which is what they should do! Especially since the sealant is also cracking!

Are there no options of bag repairer in Oz? I dont feel safe sending my baby all the way

I have experienced Jap SA and Japanese people overall and they are always very polite - its in their culture. I am suspecting lost in translation/language barrier.

I think this is the third design. I'm glad I bought the second design before they removed the Yves. This is just wrong when I think how well made my YSLs used to be. I will not buy anything saint Laurent

Boy, I just feel horrified on your behalf. This is simply unacceptable treatment.

I'm now worried about the YSL med chyc Y I bought. It's this exact bag:

YSL med chyc cabas amber.jpg

The bag is feels & looks solid. The edging is pliable & sealed evenly. I've never experienced ANY defects & quality problems with any of my handbags: premier or otherwise. Am I due? Yikes!

My other fear is that I found this bag at dwntwn Winners last Friday! Winners return policy has been excellent in terms of defects...if the bag were to break, I'm sure they'd be good about it BUT you never know!? It would feel more confident if I purchased at Holt Renfrew but I didn't. So the bag is most definitely discounted but still.

I don't doubt its authenticity either: all the docs are there etc. I've really inspected the bag and Winners said they do not sell fakes. Anyway, I have 30 days for full refund if I want. The YSL chyc cabas is one of my HG Wish List bags...and I like the Y stitched panels better so...unless I find/buy used...Saint Laurent does not make many choices with the Y stitched panels. Have to think about this...

This is the older Yves Saint Laurent (not Saint Laurent) Cabas Chyc which shouldn't have the same detachable handle attachment as the newer one. And Winners sells only authentic merchandise so you can be pretty sure that you have an authentic bag there.
