How much did they charge you for leather repair?I am happily awaiting the return of my classic Mono Speedy 30 from LV, as I sent her off to have all her vachetta replaced. It was my first designer bag/LV and she’s still my fave almost 20 years later. The Speedy is my fave bag ever and ai have quite a few. My lates LV purchase was the denim neo speedy
Did you get it back early by chance? I have a 35 to replace leather on, wondering what the true cost will be?!I definitely still use my classic Speedy 40. I love it! In fact, I just sent it in to LV to have the full vachetta replaced and I'm finding that I really miss it. Supposed to be ready mid March. I can't wait.
Keep me posted! I am in the same scenario of deciding what to do....I also own a classic Speedy 35, it was my first LV and a Xmas present, way back when I was in college. Over time, the brass tabs have tarnished and oxidized onto the vachetta chaps, sadly. Last summer, I took the bag into my local LV boutique for a repair estimate. It was around $600 USD or so to have the brass tabs replaced, along with the vachetta chaps, handles and piping. Essentially all of the vachetta leather would need to be replaced if I wanted a uniform coloring of it. At the time, I opted not to have the repair done as otherwise, the monogram canvas and interior are in most excellent condition. Plus, the repair cost would have exceeded half the cost of a new Speedy 35, at the time. Given the new LV price increase for the Speedy, I’m probably now going to opt to get the bag repaired if the new repair estimate doesn’t exceed $700 USD, accounting for inflation.
I think the Samir would make a great (and stylish) range bag!As much as I like handheld bags, the strap would be nice to have as an option. That said, I love vachetta on LV. Years ago I bought the Babylon due to more vachetta. That was also a workhorse bag. One must be prepared to face rainy days that fall on vachetta, when I was younger I was mortified at the water spots. Now? Meh. Maybe because all the vachetta on my LVs is aged anyway and the spots don't show as much, I intend to use my LV bags in all weather conditions. In general I baby my things, but not to a prissy butt extent. In a way, kind of like cookware. My cookware is great, heavy copper, etc, I must have spent tens of thousands on my cookware collection, and I use it hard but not abusively. Of course they got the nicks and scratches, but that's why they exist--to take hard use and get passed down to another generation. LV bags are kind of like that, IMO. They can take a lot. Vachetta and all. I have an old LV Deauville and a Saumur. They've seen better days so it was fun to repurpose them into handgun bags that I take to the range. I know it's a silly and maybe eccentric thing to do, but since LV actually made a hunting bag for actual hunting, I think of repurposing those bags for another use isn't a bad idea.
I just got a call a few nights ago letting me know that it's ready. I won't be able to pick it up until next weekend. I can't wait though. I'm so excited. I've missed it. The SA told me it's going to cost $960.Did you get it back early by chance? I have a 35 to replace leather on, wondering what the true cost will be?!

I just picked it up this weekend and it cost me $660, not the initial quote of $960. So nice to save the $300, so I was really happy about that. And it looks like a brand new bag. OMG it's gorgeous! They even replaced the inside pocket with a brand new one since my old one was ripped and didn't have a zipper (it's from 1998). Definitely worth the money to replace the vachetta.Did you get it back early by chance? I have a 35 to replace leather on, wondering what the true cost will be?!
