You should definitely go for it. I just got my Speedy 40 back from having all of the vachetta replaced (plus inside pocket) and it looks like a brand new bag. They initially quoted me $960, but when I picked it up, it was $660. I feel that's totally worth it because it looks amazing. It only took a little over 2 months, even though they told me 3 months. So everything was a great process and I am really happy overall.I also own a classic Speedy 35, it was my first LV and a Xmas present, way back when I was in college. Over time, the brass tabs have tarnished and oxidized onto the vachetta chaps, sadly. Last summer, I took the bag into my local LV boutique for a repair estimate. It was around $600 USD or so to have the brass tabs replaced, along with the vachetta chaps, handles and piping. Essentially all of the vachetta leather would need to be replaced if I wanted a uniform coloring of it. At the time, I opted not to have the repair done as otherwise, the monogram canvas and interior are in most excellent condition. Plus, the repair cost would have exceeded half the cost of a new Speedy 35, at the time. Given the new LV price increase for the Speedy, I’m probably now going to opt to get the bag repaired if the new repair estimate doesn’t exceed $700 USD, accounting for inflation.
Wait, we’re you referring to me looking chic with my speedy 35 as I tote around my iPad? I thought someone was staring at me the other day. Just kidding! Playin! But I do love my 35! It is the ideal size for me because the opening is easy access for iPads, documents, and light sweaters without it being all jam packed too tightly. Yet, not quite too large to be considered luggage. So I say go get yourself a 35 you won’t regret it!I just ordered a Speedy 25 in monogram. Not the B25 - too much vachetta for me. Not crazy about the 30 but recently saw a woman on a plane with a 35 in monogram. I was watching her and she was carrying a scarf and gloves and ipad, etc. She had a cool, casual/chic vibe about her with that bag. I couldn't stop staring at it. Would definitely consider a 35 in the future.
Thank you for letting me know and I’m glad to hear that your Speedy 40 was repaired so quickly. I’ve yet to take my bag in for the new repair estimate but you’ve inspired me to do that this weekend. Enjoy your “new” Speedy 40!You should definitely go for it. I just got my Speedy 40 back from having all of the vachetta replaced (plus inside pocket) and it looks like a brand new bag. I finally dropped off my Speedy 35 for repair and was quoted $660 for the repair estimate, plus my CA said that it could take up to 24 weeks for me to get the bag back.![]()
Definitely. We both had our 40's repaired and they look amazing! Worth every penny. I love having my Speedy back and I've been enjoying using it again. It will be so worth the wait! Also usually they are pretty quick and over estimate the price.![]()
A bag organizer will take the saggy away, I have both 25 30, 25 wasn’t popular until a year ago, 30 can fit iPad, 25 can’t , they don’t look very different on meView attachment 5400528
The classic was my first ever preloved luxury purchase and I used it a ton. But now, the sagging and size really bother me for some reason! I think if it were smaller, maybe the 25, it would be a better fit. I love top handle bags because they’re easier to hold and handle, they don’t interfere or mess up my clothes or hair like a crossbody or shoulder bag can. And I love that it has history!
