LOL my mom didn't even get a wedding ring. My dad is such a :censor:. Even if it was a wedding band with no diamonds my mom would've still been happy.. it was the thought that counted. My dad told my mom "after 10 years.. if you stay with me, I'll buy you any ring you want"... well of course 10 years past.. she got her ring which was 20,000.. and then she divorced his butt a couple years after she found out he was cheating... it's more of a revenge ring then a wedding ring. For 10 years she had no ring, can you believe it? And my mom and dad owned a business together so it wasn't like they couldn't afford a ring in the beginning! That's why I don't talk to my dad anymore... (and many more reasons)

So it just shows that no matter how big or small.. it still means something. You could be like my mom with squat..

He is and was a jerk.

EDIT: Your rings look fabulous :)!

My replacement ring is 1.15 (assuming I keep this stone) because it was a nice stone. I am and will be happy with this size. It's just the stone itself I am still not 100% on!

My original was .86.

I only know a handful of people with a 1 c ring and about 3 people with one over it. .50 to 1 c would be the most common.

Im in 20's so that might have something to do with it.. I love my rings, would like an upgrade if we can afford it!

My engagement ring diamond is a 1.07 ct Asscher, which I love and would never trade in for anything. It's the ring my hubby proposed with and has a lot of beautiful memories associated with it. (Also, it's the perfect size for my fingers - I wear a size 5.25) I know how much time he put in to find and pay for it. He is wonderful!!

I think a 1 ct ring is great! i have bigger stone, pretty big I think, and I get embarrassed by it. I am a fairly modest person. I live in an area where people have a fair amount of money but most of the women I know don't wear big rings at all. I find myself hiding it or not wearing it. I would prefer a smaller stone. If you want it to look bigger you can add a halo to it, but I think a single 1 ct stone is perfection.

My only caveat is go with a good stone don't skimp on quality for quantity.

My wedding rings consist of a 3-stone past, present, & future. It is 1.75 cts with a diamond band that is 1.5 cts both set in yellow gold.

I love my rings and would trade them for nothing!!!

Here's some food for thought.

Even though I'm probably not going to get married any time soon (still have to go through law school and get my career on track), I have thought about if or when I get married, how big do I want my ring to be? The reason why I think about it is because I have the tiniest hands. No I'm not exaggerating, I think in my entire life I've only met one girl who's hands were only a hairsbreadth smaller than mine.

I think my hands could probably handle at most 1.5 carats before the diamond will engulf my tiny finger. Do any of you small handed ladies ever think about this or is it a concern to you? Maybe I just think too much, but just the other week I went to Nordstrom to try on the 11mm Moonlight Moonstone ring by David Yurman and the thing COVERED the width of my ENTIRE FINGER. LOL. *sigh* I wish I had normal sized hands...

My engagement ring is only .78ctw total, it's a past, present, future style, so the actual centre stone is probably only about .30ctw. My wedding band only has .50ctw of diamonds in it, and my anniversary band has 1.00 in it, for a grand total of 2.25ctw for all three of my wedding rings. Nowhere near as big as a lot of the ones on here, but they're still absolutely beautiful.

^^
Yes. My ring finger is a 4.5. It's not so much the width of my finger that's the issue though. I have short fingers, so the area where I can wear a ring is smaller than the average woman's hands. What's your ring size swanky?

^^
Oh my gosh your fingers are so skinny!!! I think I've seen pictures of your hands though, and they didn't look short at all if I recall correctly.

Here is a picture of my fingers, as you can see, I barely have any space on my ring finger.

You ladies with tiny hands and fingers seem lucky to me. I have a large hand and I wear an 8.5 ring. The only good thing is that my fingers are long. Still, I feel like I have man hands ajd am embarrased when someone wants to try on one of my (huge) rings.
