Anyone going to NYC sample sale?

is there a long wait to get into the private sale.
is there a safe place for your pocketbook since you can only bring in a wallet and cell phone.

I'll be going today around 2PM. I'll have a LV Speedy with me in line if anyone wants to say hello.

For lunch in the area, Cafeteria on 7th Avenue between 17th and 18th is good, trendy and (NY) affordable. Try the mac & cheese.

Annie, you check your bag and it is definitely safe. People bring all manner of lovely bags - I always joke around that I'd rather shop from the bag check than the sale itself. :)

Best,

Ryan

The line was crazy! A lot of lovely tpfers were in line with me. I barely got out of there alive. There are tons of people, its hot and there is an enormous line for the cash registers but it was well worth it. I got some great items!!

Was there around 5:00. Cash registers were all down so there was about a 1 hour wait to pay. Lots of Garden Parties and RTW. However, given the wait I bailed and went upstairs to the J. Mendel sample sale.

I went today with jp824 and I saw kelly23 as well--"Hi girls!!"

I traveled quite far and the lines were incredibly long, but I think it was totally worth it!!

If you are looking for somthing specific, you might not have any luck, but there were a lot of really great deals.

I saw several people who were lucky enough to get bright Tohu Bohu shawls, but I never was able to even find a single cashmere shawl. It really is just all about timing--not that you have to be first, you just have to be in the right place at the right time.

There were sooooooooo many scarves!! I'm not sure I will ever buy another scarf at retail price.

I say go---it is great, but be prepared for really long lines and you'll be set!

(Wear your most comfy shoes!)

Minnie! It was so great to see you today -- it's been too long

I only got a couple of little things but the cashmere was really a sight to behold. Unfortunately I didn't get there fast enough. The line was the only real issue, but hopefully they'll fix whatever was wrong with the registers asap.

OMG, my feet are STILL numb from standing ALL FREAKIN DAY LONG!!!! :death:Good to see Abbyroad, Olive519 and meet Rose!

There were a ridiculous amount of garden parties so if that is what you want, definitely go. I didn't mind the wait outside, but the wait INSIDE at the register was truly RIDICULOUS. The ENTIRE HERMES computer system went down, so the cashier was literally using her personal cell phone to get approval for the credit card. Customers were getting antsy and there were a few "heated" conversations!:cursing: They even started to hand out seltzer in plastic cups! Not sure I will ever go again, but I did score some cashmere shawls thanks to a very kind lady! I guess that's enough to make me come back??? Note that RTW and shoes were the same price at the individual boutique sales. Yes, a lot of scarves and ties. The selection of leather accessories was poor and most in below average condition. I finally got out of there after waiting in line to pay for almost 2 hrs. Yup, you heard me, 2 hrs.

I would love to get a cashmere scarf!! Guess I'm going then. Were they mixed in with the silk scarves or in a different bin?

Was there a lot more stuff than at the individual store sales?

The cashmere shawls were few and far between. I just got lucky that someone who didn't buy hers, gave it to me. Seriously, do not go just for the shawls. Once I had mine in my hand, I quickly put it into my bag. People were hunting them down.

Please tell which ones you scored. Living through you vicariously....

I am still woozy. My head was spinning from standing in line for the cash register. It was hot cramped and slow! Definitely do not go only for the cashmere shawls, there were very few! I got extremely lucky because I was standing there when they brought out 4 from the back.
