Anyone else feel somewhat embarrassed about LV?

Hehe the car caught my eye. I drive a 1990 Toyota Corolla and still running like a champ!! I never once thought people might think my LV is fake with me driving such a car. Anyways dont let what people think get you down.
Thats awesome!! I was wondering how many years I can get out of my car. 21 years is impressive!! That's good to know I can spend my $$ on LV instead. ;)

I drive '02 Toyota 4runner. It has been a great car. I love it, and would buy another Toyota in a heartbeat. I mentioned it to explain that I'm really down to earth and very non pretentious. Having said that, I do love nice classic handbags.

I've heard about how I'm trying to be something I'm not, or how nice it must be to afford such things. Questions about saving money etc., I know it's really none of their business, but I still feel awkward and uncomfortable with these comments.

I love what others have said about being aware of who they will be around or where they go when they carry LV. Guess I'll need to do a little more thinking and planning in advance. (still seems crazy to have to do that) I would love to say screw you and mind your own business, but that's not me either. The people I get the these comments and looks from are mostly my side of the family. ( My MIL & SIL both carry LV- ha.)

I would think the only reason you would need a "better car" is because yours is breaking down, not because you need a "better" brand. I don't get this obsession with oh no I'm driving a Toyota...who cares, a nice car that runs is great regardless of models. Too many BMW leases out there with posers driving them anyway.

Get and wear what you like, if you saved up to buy your bag and love it, then enjoy.

Well, I bought my first LV in Singapore... I got the Delightful and I find it really nice.. MY husband wasn't pleased tho I paid for it with my personal savings & not using our family savings since I have my own small business where I fund my luxuries... Now I regret selling the bag and settled for a pre-owned neverfull.........

Ahh...I feel exactly as you do. I'm also in school and what's even worse is that my graduate school cohort is ALL MALE (except for me) so you can even imagine the comments...I bought a Burberry flip case for my iphone and they were commenting on how it looks like a Star Trek communicator...I don't even know what that is?! lol

HAHAHAHA Now that is something to give them a hard time about!!

Burberry iphone case, huh? :graucho: haha I may have to look into one of those!

Just had another comment today from a coworker. We were discussing my husbands hobby of photography. She asked me what my hobby was..... "collecting LV bags??". She said she could have a entire new wardrobe for the price of one of those bags. How is that supposed to make me feel?? Thank God for TPF. You ladies just "get it".

I don't have an LV yet but I am planning to buy one soon. I would wear it with pride if I have one though and not care about what other people think. If people want to look they can go right ahead cause I'll be happily carrying it around :D. Don't let anyone put you down and it can be intimidating since it is an expensive brand but just don't let it affect you. :smile1:

If you feel bad then don't buy at all. If you buy, don't feel bad.

My husband and I don't live large but we can certain afford more than what we have. I don't care what people assume. I know people who live paycheck to paycheck and drive expensive cars and wear designer cloth. I know people who carry LV but have a credit card debt. When I tell them my "spendable savings/play money" (which is not retirement or investment or college fund for kids) their jaws are on the floor. They even asked why don't I get a new car and my answer has been, I like handbags not cars.

No I don't feel awkward.
If I were literally living from pay cheque to pay cheque and starving I'm sure I would feel guilty about carrying expensive bags.
But I don't and you aren't so you shouldn't feel bad.

Owning 1 or 2 LV is more economical in the long run because they last forever. My mum even has LV that is older than me.
You can't say that about any other purses.

I am a recent graduate therefore most of my friends do not own LV bags.
However I adore them. I have only 1 bag and 1 wallet.
I only carry my LV on certain occasion or depending which group of friends I am hanging out with.
I just dont want certain friends of mine to think that I am trying to show off.
BUt I am really not, LV is something that I love, and therefore to avoid misconception I carry it with me when I am going on a date or when I feel like its an appropriate time.

A couple years ago, when I did not own any LV, a friend of mine told me that her Ex bf's sister in law has a closet full of LVs.
When I heard that I envy her, but from the tone of my friend, she thinks that shes wasting money on Luxury bags.
I disagree because I think everyone has their own preference on what they would like to collect. but i just kept my thought to myself.

Dont feel bad. People always judge just because they cant have what you have!
So you should just play it off with your coworker next time and just laughed and say Yes. As long as you are using your own money it doesn't matter what other people say.

Love what you said in the end. I actually ended up buying mono gallieria pm last month because a coworker told me to buy it now before I get a new or newer used car. I took her advice because she said after I buy the car all my money would be going towards paying it off.
