I'm thinking of getting a pierotucci bag for a friend as a present (she just landed on her first job!) she's been lusting after birkin/kelly for as long as I can remember but can't afford the real deal and totally against fakes

If she is totally against fakes, she may not appreciate a 'extremely inspired' bag either. I know I wouldn't.
Well, if she likes the style and doesn't try to pass it off as the real thing I don't think it should matter. There's lots of 'extremely inspired' bags around anyway....I've seen lots of people buy stuff just because they think it looks nice and not have a clue about what it was 'extremely inspired' by.
Seriously though...I've always wondered if modelling a peirotucci would look like one was modelling a H bag and if 'true' H lovers would ever be able to recognize the difference...

Different strokes for different folks. It is possible to be anti fakes and pro inspired designs.
crazyshopper123, perhaps you could innocently direct your friend to the website to gauge her reaction? If she likes the bags and isn't freaked out by the fact that they're inspired designs, you've got your answer! Good luck either way.
I just don't find Pierotucci to be copying. The fact is, they make a brilliant bag with excellent leather and craftsmanship. Italy is handbag heaven. "It's not fake anything...it's a real Pierotucci." Enjoy! And don't sweat the small stuff.
