Hi,
I've seen you comment in a few threads about DP bags.... I am currently trying to decide between the Gator (just the gator not the gator Gang) in the pretty Bulle Leather and the Mr Siamese!! Are you able to offer any opinion on either bag or just the over all quality of the brand???? I was looking at a Coach, Demiller and Kate Spade bag in similar sizes/styles to these two... but I keep coming back to the DP purely on the look of the softness of the look of the leather in the pictures!!
I normally stay away from black bags - they just aren't my thing - but the gator is making me rethink this as it only comes in black!

I believe my dear friend @southernbelle43 owned a Mr Siamese at some point and can speak of its virtues :smile:. Currently, I have 2 DP bags - Mr. Gator Gang and Mr mini armadillo (no longer available) and I love them both. The quality is superb - leather is incredible (I’m a huge leather snob), craftsmanship is great and their hardware is true hefty brass. If there were some things I’d change about their bag it would be lining - for some reason they insist on having it be black fabric and I wish shoulder straps on some models were longer for crossbody and/or didn’t feature chains (I hate chains). But overall, IMO, deadly ponies is a much higher quality and a more unique brand compared to the ones you’ve mentioned (all great brands by the way, no shade :smile:

I agree with her about the quality and the leather. DP became famous because of their deer nappa leather which is awesome In the last year or so, they are making bags in other leathers. But the deer nappa is what set them apart from others to me. Mr. Siamese is a great bag. It holds a lot and carries very easily. I don’t have it now only because I suddenly started wanting more structured bags for whatever strange reason. I also agree about the dreaded black lining. It stays clean, lol, but it makes it a little harder to see inside. I still have Mr. Verne and love it. You cannot go wrong with DP!!!! Additionally their customer service cannot be beat.

I will await photos!! PS, one can NEVER have too many black bags, lol..Also the bulle lamb leather is quite unique. I have a bag in that leather from another brand and I love it.

Mr Gator is here and wow does it smell amazing!!! The quality of the leather is brilliant - so soft and thick... it’ll last forever and I just love the bulle detail!!

I also decided to get the armadillo wristlet as I often need to be hands free and even though they are different textures/styles/designs they seem to compliment each other very well!!

I think I’m a black bag convert but I know it definitely won’t be my last DP purchase!!

The Opelle bag arrived. It is a great workhorse bag, medium plus size. Strap drop is about 9 inches. It has a cross body strap that I will probably never use.

The leather feels like a cross between Massaccesi's Verona and Pebbled. It looks and feels like it is really durable.

It is a fairly lightweight, very soft bag that is really comfortable to carry. Every single edge is rolled, no edge paint anywhere! That makes such a difference in how professional a bag looks. The workmanship is perfect as far as I can tell.

I love the hardware which is solid brass with a matte finish. There are no logos outside.

The opening is spacious which is a must have, deal breaker for me. The inside has a zipped pocket and two slip pockets. The pocket in the front is perfect for a phone. I have a large phone (iPhone XR) and it fits well down inside that pocket. You cannot tell there is anything in there.

All and all I am pleased. It came with a 10% discount coupon, a nice personal note from the owner and a simple white dust bag, nothing special. It is a stylish, non-nonsense bag that works great for everyday use. The large size would be perfect for a work bag.

You've had this one for awhile now, any comments on how you like it, how it's wearing, etc? I'm considering an Opelle bag, I think you mentioned that you thought DP had better leather, do you still feel that way?

No doubt DP’s leather FAR exceeds this. Howover, this bag for the price has held up beautifully and is a great work horse bag.
