Anybody digging Lanvin lately? Or other super expensive high-end brands that are not "IT" right now?

Who do you think is the next up and coming (or resurrected) super luxury handbag designer?

I have the mini sugar in suede and love it! Got it at 70% off at Boxing day.

I want a medium one as well and now that Lanvin has come out with a calfskin version I think I might buy one. I wouldn't dare to wear a lambskin bag.

I'm totally obsessed with suede at the moment, so I might go for a suede bag.

My god, I just found this. I think I might pass out!

Thank you! I can understand your feelings about the GG logo. I hate almost all logo bags, but really dig Gucci's 1973 logo and this one, which an SA told me was Gucci's original belt buckle. I also love the antique gold on this.

I have two Loewe bags, a yellow Flamenco and a bright red Barcelona, and I love them. The leather is amazing, and I love the vibrant colors. I suppose I pretend I'm a vivacious Barcelona-dweller when I wear them . Here is a picture of my Flamenco --

BTW, I LOVE your Jiji! It is unusual and very beautiful--a great color/hardware combo. Congrats on your purchase!

I am excited to look at Loewe next week. I have been looking for a beautiful mint green bag in great leather, and I know Loewe has this color. Thank you for modeling your beautiful flamenco!!

Those are all absolutely great. I love the colors they are using this season. OK I am adding one more......READY?????504783766_1_BagFront.jpg

Not sure I would include Fendi on the list. IMO, they have stayed pretty popular. Their Peek-A-Boo bags are very popular as well as their entire monster line. They also have relatively popular bags such as the 2jours, By the Way, etc. I think the brand that has had a major resurgence in popularity is Gucci. It started with the Soho Disco bag and they have an it bag recently with the Dionysus.
I think Fendi just hasn't been up to where they were in the days of Sex and the City - remember the fake Fendi debacle at the playboy mansion episode?? I think what could also be included in the list is Prada/MiuMiu. Definitely having more of a moment than they have had in the last 5+ years :)

I love these new Lanvin bags! I like their main logo but I wonder if they have any others [from the past/the archives] they could use. I would love to see them expand what they print on the bag as the logo, it would make me want the bags even more LOL.

Lanvin is a great under the radar premium brand. I like the brand's logo. I love that Sofitel hotels use Lanvin toiletries (they smell fabulous).
Lanvin makes a small bag that would be perfect for someone who wants an alternative to the Gucci disco bag (not that there's anything wrong with the Disco): http://store.lanvin.com/ch/shoulder-bag_cod45290786th.html I also like these slip-on aubergine sneakers: http://store.lanvin.com/ch/sneakers_cod11057827ts.html I recently bought a similar pair from Prada, but if I'd known about the Lanvin ones, I might have picked them instead. In the "one that got away" category, I'm still kicking myself for not buying this version of the Sugar Bag -- it would be perfect for elegant evenings:

As for other under the radar brands, I would say Fontana Milano 1915. But that seems to be their choice. They sell a limited selection on Barney's; otherwise you have to hit their store in Milan to see the full range. Maybe Delvaux. And Loro Piana, but they've put themselves above most buyers with their ultra-high prices. I love their Lune bag; it used to be available in regular leather for about $2200. Now it's sold only in crocodile for $32,000 :amazed: Still gorgeous but wayyyy out of my price league! https://www.loropiana.com/en/eshop/pag16-lune-crocodile/p-FAF0047

My first Lanvin indeed arrived today with a few things , and #2 arriving tomorrow along with 2 Chanel exchanges. I think that should complete the collection I've been trying to put together for 6 months or so. I do have a couple of things on preorder, I am having some fun diversifying, and looking forward to checking out what is in Europe next week - Loewe and D&G and maybe some other "under the radar" bags. BUT to the initial point, I am surprised more ppl are not talking about and gravitating toward Lanvin. This is what came today, the black version arrives tomorrow.

Congrats on this one Tracey! I love the color! I like that the accents are in certain places. I did not think you'd go for a studded bag  About Lanvin -- I'm also surprised I did not see much here on tpf about it when I first joined. Regardless, I'm a fan and love the brand

Wow! I love this bag! And it would have been perfect on trend for this fall and winter with all the florals and tapestry. Gypsy chic!!

I am headed to Europe actually RIGHT NOW! And I am excited to see what all is over there. I've seen a few of the Lanvin's in the past few weeks that have beautiful berry shades and suedes...If I find a purple/ plum bag (not a mini) it's coming home with me!

I visited the D&G boutique last week in Vegas, and there are a TON of options not seen in stores or their online boutique. It gave me an entirely new appreciation for their bags. They are thoughtful and artistic and HAPPY!! I don't dig the AMcQ bags, a little too "forced" skull things and all. Reminds me of that, gosh, who was that designer that was all skulls? OH!! Ed Hardy.

So glad to read this! I will be in Milan next month and a stop at D&G is definitely on my list. I love the colors and print on this bag: http://store.dolcegabbana.com/ch/dolce-gabbana/borse-a-spalla-e-tracolla_cod55013795ca.html but would like to see if the same print is available on any of their other bags.

I have been eyeballing Lanvin for a while now. But as others have said, resale on these bags isn't great so I've been hesitant to buy. It's the same with Nina Ricci, Cartier and Bvlgari. I love some of their bags but pass due to resale. :hrmm:

I may take the plunge and buy a bag from one of these brands that is pre loved and already taken the depreciation hit but I dunno. I can buy like new, pre loved Chanel, Dior or LV and have a bag I love and that will also hold its value at the (discounted) price I paid.

Never say never though. Some of these bags are adorable enough to stay on my radar. And I've really been liking the idea of getting something beautifully made but undercover so I don't look like every other bag addict.

I personally love Lanvin bags. The leather is beautiful, and I enjoy all the little feminine touches-the chains, ribbons, etc. They do not have a good resale value, but that has not stopped me from buying them. I recently purchased the camera bag in red and it is a great little pop of color. I have a few others, which are older, but still use them on occasion.
