Anybody digging Lanvin lately? Or other super expensive high-end brands that are not "IT" right now?

Who do you think is the next up and coming (or resurrected) super luxury handbag designer?

Tods bags are beautifully made, the Joy tote is one I've had my eye on for a little while. I had a Lanvin bag briefly, but whilst the leather was nice the hardware was really jangly and I couldn't live with it, I felt self conscious wearing the bag! I hope it's improved.

I will let you know. My friend was in Vegas this weekend, and tried on a metallic jiji, it's BEAUTIFUL. She said it's perfection. So, here's to hoping whatever was the issue has been improved. I had to send back 2 beautiful Prada Cahier bags because they squeaked!

I love Lanvin bags! I was not satisfied after the first one. I have 3 of the quilted happy medium - blue, taupe, and grey. The leather is soooo soft. Although, it has a structured shape, it is generally on the softer side. I love them and did not really even care to think if it was an "it" bag or not. I'm thinking of adding the smaller quilted ones not sure yet which one but I'm taking my time

I think the quilted ones are so beautiful and in some great colors!! The Happy bags or Sugar bags? Apparently they received rave reviews and are incredibly functional. I hope Lanvin has their moment again!

Yes I prefer not purchasing "it" bags. I have a lanvin bag and love it.
Recently I purchased a Fendi "by the way" bag. I have not been interested in Fendi bags for years and years, and I stumbled upon them recently. I was so pleasantly surprised by what I felt and saw. Great quality bags, and they wear really well. My bag seems to resist scuffing a lot more than other bags, and just feel like good quality.

I try to resist, but it is hard. I think somewhere in my mind, I always think, well, if I MUST have another bag, I can easily sell a Chanel or LV and afford it! Without the "it" in the IT BAG, unfortunately resale doesn't equate to that at all. I hate that this enters my mind, but it does. I have found myself going for bags that have higher resale, but that I like less than others, like the above brands. It SEEMS to make sense, but then it also doesn't at all. So I get stuck, conflicted :)

Tod's craftmanship and materials are amazing. The detail, the thick silk lining, the simplicity. Dolce & Gabbana has some really amazing designs out right now and the bags are workhorses.

I adore Ferragamo as well. Their designs are wonderful and have something for everyone.

Also, the most shocking one for me might be Kimora Lee Simmons' line. I bought a card case to dip my toes and was really impressed with quality. Perfect stitching, soft leather that's taken a beating in my bags and is no worse the wear, lovely design, made in Italy.
Ferragamo I think it also resurging! I went out to dinner with a couple last week, and the lady was carrying a small F bag with a beautiful, large, horseshoe clasp and it was a WOW. I definitely think they are stepping up their game. I should have included this in the poll!! Great designer!!

I like these, I saw them on Tod's site a few weeks ago. I'm just not quite sure about the Double T hardware on them. Other than that, I like them very much and I'd like to see them irl as well.
I would also like to see them. The double T could either be awesome or very NOT awesome. It looks like heavy hardware, which I like....

I do agree with what you are saying here. I think if you like to resell your bags, purchasing bags with a higher resale is not a bad idea at all!. I have to say that I am having trouble reselling some of these higher resale bags for the price I want. I find that the resale market currently is saturated with LV and Chanel, and therefore I have been getting only 50% of what I paid, even in pristine condition. So I guess I just got a little bitter with the entire thing and now purchase what I will enjoy. I stick to neutral colors so that I am not as tired. I love color so I express that in my clothing.

I think you're right, that the market is so saturated with preloved. And vintage. And "new without tags". The offers are getting lower and lower, and the commercial reseller is making big profits.....for NOW. I am not sure that will last. I do think the marketplace will turn and demand will change, and only the Chanel classics (flaps and boys) will survive. There are just so many, and the quality is not the same with the seasonals. I have sent a few back and sold a few because the quality was not up to snuff. BUT with the super expensive ones, over 5k? I LOVE these bags, and actually cannot think about parting with them. They are perfectly crafted and absolute perfection. I supposed I've just answered my own question haven't I? I am ALWAYS pleased when I buy the super expensive Chanels (so perfect and timeless and awesome) that I would not want to sell them. Hence, don't buy less than what I love, and I won't need to sell! Ha!

Chanel is boring though right now. They are not innovating. LV, ummmm, pretty much NO. Gucci? I appreciate the effort, but, ummmmm...NO. Not for me. I think I am having a little consumer-demand-driven-market rebellion, and looking for a little fresh infusion. I have learned so much, that sometimes I wish I could just "start over" and go for EXACTLY what I like, not what the "it" people told me I should like!

Since I already have the Happy medium, I'm eyeing the mini sugar quilted. Looks very functional. I think it may be the same as the second pic you posted. The sugar mini looks like a good size compared to the Happy mini. I also like the mini sugar in snakeskin. I missed out on the one I liked.

If you're after resale, there is more demand for the more popular bags. Lanvin not so much. I still buy the brand because I love the bags, never for resale. Good luck with the hunt for your next bag :)

Resale value depends on the brand but not only.
The model, the colour and....the size are important too.
A large bag ( contrary to medium ) will have a lower resale value, even in luxury brands.
Absolutely right, colour matters a lot, classic black bags are always saleable - beige less so. There's also a move away from large bags at the mo and a fashion for dinky little ones - no use to me, I can't see the point  But I'm cheerfully unfashionable anyway :-)

Another designer you should check out is the Spanish luxury company, Loewe. Fabulous quality and their presence in America is rapidly growing. I saw these bags when I was in Paris a while bag and they were all stunning!
