Just curious and to play devils advocate - how would your describe Coach? I literally laughed when I read that.. Lol. ;)

Coach's current designs are trendy and glammy with lots of hardware. And there's nothing wrong with that, but my style personally runs toward more clean lines and limited hardware. I'm not liking Coach right now. I have in the past, and might in the future, but right now it's not for me. I found Fossil to be selling surprisingly classic and timeless silhouettes. I say surprisingly because I tend to think of Fossil as a young brand. Not a fan of the keys everywhere, but I took mine off and it's all good. Love my Maddox! I'm also thinking of getting a Fossil watch.

The Coach outlet only had bags produced just for the outlets (I think they're called factory bags?). No leather and priced at $200 so that they could make you feel good about the 50% off coupon they handed out. The place was absolutely booming, though, so what do I know?

Hey guys, I just found this forum (and this thread).

I'm glad to hear your opinions on Fossil, it confirms the quality of the brand that I was attracted to. I'm having problems choosing a Fossil bag and was hopping you guys can give me a few pointers.

The finalist:
There is only one. I visited my local Fossil store and spent a long and confusing time to browse through every single(patient salesperson) purse they had. Nothing stood out until I saw this one at in the corner:

I will only have one purse (at least for now, tuition first). But I have a bunch of uncertainties in my head:

1. Do you guys think this is too flashy?

2. Can I carry around something like this every day? Does this bag feel more appropriate for a high school girl? Does it look... tacky?

3. It is worth my money? It costs the same as the other maddox bags, but it's mostly patchwork and not a lot of leather. The price is about $230-270 (canadian), about the same in USD based on the current exchange rate.

With all that uncertainty in my mind, I do have to repeat that this is the first (and only) purse that my heart actually skipped for.

A bit about myself:
I'm a college student so I feel Fossil is the brand for me. I'm a Computer Science major so any sense of style (good or bad) will stand out at school or in my work place.

I'm currently on an internship so I have a moderate source of income. The ladies from another department of my company suggested I should have at least one good quality bag so that I can walk around in style.:graucho:
I have never carried bags around other than $20 walmart school backpacks(until I started college, I just stopped carrying bags period). Personally, I never thought about having a purse. But I think their suggestion is not bad! I want to feel a bit more girly and grown up! I can comfortably purchase one purse.

Thanks for reading!!!

I think that is way too flashy for everyday. If you only buy one bag, i think it should be a little more understated, so it can go with more outfits. I can see why it stood out, but you'll get more longevity with a solid color leather bag, in my opinion. I hope that helps.

If this is a bag you love and would be confident carrying, then you should have it. But if it is your only purse and you care what other professionals think about your style, I would get something more neutral first.

I love Fossil! My favorite bag ever is a Fossil and it's truly beautiful, exquisite leather and has held up terrifically. The only reason I don't still use it regularly is because I need a bigger bag to carry all my toddler's things in. I hope everyone doesn't start loving it, though because I don't want them to raise their prices and become another Coach. Coach used to have bags that were as good quality as Fossil does now, but not so much anymore, or if it is good quality it's too expensive (at least imho.)

I LOVE fossil! I think I may like it a TINY bit more than coach, only because I'm not fancy or classy like coach bags, I am more practical and youthfully refined. Fossil has excellent quality leather, just as good sometimes better than coach (only because the thickness and substantiality of their leather) I know my leather fossil bags will last me a lifetime if I treat them right.

Even with the good assortment of bags in my personal collection, Fossil is still my favorite. I always get a thrill when I walk through the store. Their wallets are great, too. The best is going to their outlet stores for great selections.

If you love it, then you'll be able to carry it off. I have a large Fossil patchwork bag that is every bit as loud as yours, but I get lots of compliments on it and I used it as an everyday bag before I bought this new one. Don't let the bag carry you - it's all about how you carry yourself!

I have just discovered Fossil bags (even though I've loved their watches for ages!) and I LOVE them! And I'm usually a Balenciaga or a Mulberry girl - I have two Balenciaga Giant City bags and an Oak Mulberry Alexa. But there is something about the Fossil bags that I can't get outta my head and I'm gonna get myself one! I've wanted a casual, slouchy shoulder bag for a while and I was once considering a Balenciaga Day but then I noticed the Fossil Vintage Re-Issue hobo and I'm in LOVE with the Chocolate one! They do it in Ash Grey and Chestnut and all are gorgeous but either one of those would duplicate a colour I already have but I don't have any rich dark brown bags and I feel I have a gap in my collection! At £188, it's massively cheaper than a Bal Day and I actually prefer it! It's more casual than a Bal Day and also has a longer shoulder strap, which has a bonus of being adjustable as well. After seeing the bag on the Fossil website, I went to a store to see it IRL to make sure the leather is as good as it looked - and it absolutely is - so I'm now on a mission to make it mine before the end of the month!

This is my Fossil Patchwork bag, I just love this bag I bought it for myself for mother's day many years back I don't think I could ever part with it for sentimental reasons.:hbeat:

Absolutely love fossil bags and accessories! I have probably 5 bags and a couple wallets and 2 of their watches. The vintage re-issue collection is great! I remember when they were doing the Fifty Four collection... It was a bit more pricey but the bags were fab! I also love their canvas bags for everyday!

LOVE your Fossil bag here! I admire lots of Fossil bags...they really are a great brand. I miss their Fossil Fifty Four line - I guess it did not survive all the competition out there?

Love that bag! :smile1:

I recently bought a Fossil cosmetics case that was on sale at Macy's for about $15. Really well-made, great value. What is it with cosmetics cases? There are the $10 ones at the drugstore which are always hideous, half-plastic and designed to last less than a month. There are lots of cute fabric ones on Etsy but honestly they don't look like they'd last long, at least not in my purse. And everything else runs $50 to $100 and I really don't want to spend that much.
