etoupebirkin - Congrats on having a chance to grab things before the price increase. I may just have to take the plunge tomorrow.

Even my SA told me that she is sick to her stomach about the 10% increase.
Yes, I feel for the SAs, as this will affect the store quotas.
As much as I love my SA, I'm going to hold off on the Double Sens and boots I want, as I'm pretty sure I'll at least find those at FSH. If everything goes up by 10%, then the DS will be 2600 euros, vs 4100 USD. Just too hard to justify a DS for over 4k USD.

Well, I've been trying to stay optimistic but I trust EB's information. I think a Kelly is out of the question now at least here in the US. With 6% sales tax and a 10% increase I couldn't stomach it. I work so hard to earn that amount of increase. I'm really bummed and feel like H doesn't want my business. Wow, snowed in and majorly disappointed. What an evening!

We have 9.5% sales tax here, so that feels like an extra 20% when all is said and done. :( Thing is, if I don't get it this year and wait until next year, won't it be even worse then?

Don't feel disappointed, MrsOwen. :hugs: With the strong US $, may be a trip to FSH one day to find your dream K will make up for the price increase. I found that for the price I'd have paid here (and we have 13% tax), I can get an H bag from FSH and pretty much pay for the trip as well.

I think ours is similar, the tax (ETA ours is 8.75%, so not quite as high, in my mental math I usually round up to 10%). I know that my DH has *something* planned for my 40th in 2016, I imagine there will be another increase before then. Poor DH...really wants to do something special for me, I hope it works out!

ETA We are planning to be in France in 2016 as well, but trying our luck there is no guarantee, of course. And I am very picky...

Been sitting around waiting for a phone call because my SA also confirmed the increase in Wednesday. Wonder if they'll hold off on the price increase on account of the snowstorm on the east coast? I imagine stores will not be open tomorrow.

Is your SA holding something for you? If so, hopefully will extend the old price if you go in on Wednesday (or when it reopens). If not, it would still be nice to hold off on the price increase for one more day!

Sort of! I'm second in line for something and I'm not sure if the other customer bought it... And I couldn't get through by phone today so I'm not sure what the situation is :(

/sorry this has gotten off topic/

To stay relevant - my SA did say MM rodeo charms are going to be over $500. I can't remember the exact amount because I'm not personally interested in that size.

The only problem is going to FSH doesn't guarantee one a B & K unless the shopping is only a side trip.

Now I have more reason to push through with our plans to visit Europe in April 😀supposedly just Italy but maybe I can convince DH to take a side trip to Paris 😉 But even if it's only Italy, I'll be happy- To stock up on the gorgeous SS'15 CSGM/scarves and other accessories

Still in shock over the price increase, I have decided to definitely wait for FSH to buy a B/K.

Have my own reasoning for this unjustified stiff H price increase, it's pure economics 101.

If you look back at previous price increase threads, the reaction is pretty much the same. People say Hermes prices are now too high and they will stop buying. Some do. Most don't. While there are likely economic reasons (higher costs for labour, materials, shipping, currency issues, etc.) I think that Hermes raise prices simply because they can, and because regardless of the initial sticker shock, people continue to buy, year after year.

Hermes is likely not concerned about customers for whom a 10 per cent increase prices them out of buying. Not saying this to be unkind, but they are a carriage trade company and see their customers as those who don't, for the most part, worry about price. I am sure their sales will continue to be robust this year regardless of the increase or those customers who now feel it is too expensive across the board.

Guess that I felt the same way last year initially and regardless I bought 3 Bs in 2014. Just saying, that the 10% is a shocker to hear and might look in to alternative ways to buy, mistikat. I am going to wait and see what actually happens.
