Same here. We really shouldn't be looking at an increase in the US, given the strength of the dollar.
I'll be in Paris for a month this summer, so I guess I'll start each day by heading to FSH.
The price increases are being spread out over several weeks, I believe only handbags go up on the 28th, but perhaps SLGs are on the same day. Shoes are first week of February, scarves are second week of February. Other dates have been confirmed elsewhere on the thread. My SA at the Hermes store confirmed 10% increase on everything on Jan. 28.
This forced me to make a couple of purchases the last minute !
Sounds like a fabulous summer! Are you trying to make us all jealous, Madame Monceau?hehe
We plan to head to London in Sept to catch the QM2 back to the states. Maybe I can persuade DH to take a Paris day trip? hmm...
Although I have a feeling H products may be cheaper in England than the US as well. At least after you get the VAT back and considering we pay sales tax on top of the list price.
This sounds more reasonable. My SA told me bag will increase by 5% she THINKS....
Well, it will be quite a bit cheaper now!
Someone posted on this thread that the new price on a Kelly 32 is €6500 in Paris, so at today's exchange rate, that's $7350 USD pre VAT refund. Factor in the 10% VAT refund and it's a near even exchange rate, so around $6600 USD for a new Kelly in Europe, crazy!
Totally worth the day trip to Paris, and more. Either way, a trip on the QM2 sounds amazing!
The sad thing is the last time I spent a month in Paris, I had no interest in Hermes. My SO wanted to pick up a few ties one day, so I blame him for my H addiction!
This sounds more reasonable.
I'm going to Europe but to Spain and Portugal this summer and from what I understand, no B's and K's there unless you are a local
Too bad I can't persuade the family to do a detour to Paris.......It's almost worth it to take a plane to Europe.
Sorry back to topic.....
Even with no Ks or Bs available, both countries are lovely. In fact, Portugal is one of my favorite countries that I've visited. The H boutique in Lisboa is in an extremely charming area with old-school trolleys clanking by. You will have a great trip!
I didn't buy any H when I was there last year but I did pick up a small LV coin pouch that I'd been eyeing and, with the then exchange rate and the VAT refund, it was about $30 cheaper than in the US. Obviously on larger items the savings would be a lot more.
So a 10% increase on bags in the US has been confirmed?![]()
Was at the store today. Confirmed the 10%. They are already re-ticketing things. I did, however, manage to snag something nice before the increase.
etoupebirkin - Congrats on having a chance to grab things before the price increase. I may just have to take the plunge tomorrow.
Even my SA told me that she is sick to her stomach about the 10% increase.
