Would you consider something that is a little bit less than the 4ct EC? I recall the SA saying that they have a 3.63ct, E VVS2 for about 180k? I'm not sure about the dimensions of the diamond, but perhaps you can have them do a search for something just slightly below a 4ct so you can lower the cost a bit. BTW, I did that with mine because we were looking at a 2.73ct on paper and when I went into the salon, I ended up choosing a 2.5ct because it face up larger than the 2.73.

Also don't forget to negotiate. My DF said he negotiated a pretty good price with the SA. :p Oh, and he had the tax taken off (it's almost 10%) because he had it delivered to a friend's house in a state that does not have a HW salon. Hope that helps!

Thank you Marialc, I'll definitely take your suggestion in regards to shipping and negotiation. As for the ct weight, I really was considering something just slightly below 3ct for the round as the price jumps significantly from 3ct and over and even more over 4ct or more. So yes, if I could find a 2.7 or 2.9 that is a good cut, I'm sure the price will be significantly less than a 3ct and over. Same goes with the EC. But as for the EC or round..its such a tough decision to make. Both are superbly beautiful. I'm so torn which one would be a better investment. I wish to own both now, but that's not reality. But with the price increase...we're talking possible 10% increase per year? It's quite scary to wait and wait and then having to spend ALOT more later on. Some decisions need to be made! I still also would like get croc Birkin!! LOL! We don't have any children yet, so that's why I plan to knock out these items before the kids come and there will be no more luxury items for wifey anymore! Wish to grow $$$ tree in the backyard!

In my opinion nothing compares to a stellar Emerald cut. There is just something about them: Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie O had a twin stone EC diamond and EC emerald..................

No problem. I agree with Hermesacholic and I think an EC is such a classic. I just love the simplicity of the cut. Then again, I'm a bit biased since I have an EC myself. :p

Please forgive me if you have mentioned this before, but what type of cut do you have currently? If you already have a round brilliant then I definitely would go with an EC. If you decided to look for something around 2.7 - 2.9, don't hesitate to ask the SA for a search. They should have a few in inventory because when I was searching for mine, they showed me a few for comparison.

Please keep us updated and let us know what you end up purchasing. ;)
