Agreed. She doesn't seem to have the necessary focus. Everytime I come to this thread, the "worrying frown" appears. Never good news. She seems fragile and headstrong. Not a good comination at the moment.

Off meds again. . . we know how this has ended up the previous times

Amanda Bynes is OUT of her manic state ... acting completely "normal" and her family thinks it's nothing short of "mind blowing."

Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... Amanda is off all meds, including Adderall, which caused her to get a DUI.

When you speak with Amanda there is no way you would know she's been diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolarity. She is completely lucid.

We're told things have stabilized so much, her parents have given her limited access again to bank accounts. She spends her time reading, doing yoga, meditation and pilates ... all stress reducers which doctors say are important for these mental disorders.

We're also told Amanda's recent trip to USC -- where she'd like to enroll as a psych major -- was all planned by her.

Here's the rub. Doctors have told Amanda's family, people with such mental illnesses sometimes rebound and they can be ok for months, only to relapse again.

The family believes during these stable periods, the best thing is to give Amanda enough freedom to enjoy it.

Amanda Bynes was seen touring the University of Southern California last week after expressing her desire to study psychology
The actress is said to have taken a VIP tour of the campus last week after reportedly being kicked out of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in October.
USC students reportedly told TMZ that Amanda, 28, said she planned to study psychology at USC after she was seen circling the California campus in a golf cart, singing along to Katy Perry's roar.
The She's The Man actress later confirmed the tour with a tweet that read: 'I took a USC campus tour yesterday it was sick! I plan on transferring from FIDM.'
And it didn't disappoint as the blonde later said gushed, 'The campus is sick!' having expressed her desire to seek out a new school in October when she tweeted: 'I'm transferring to NYU or Columbia from FIDM to study psychology, so you'll see me in New York if you live here but I HATE stalkers!'

Amanda expressed her wishes to transfer from FIDM to study psychology in October

Amanda is currently recovering from her latest stint in psychiatric care during October and November and despite reports that she was kicked out of her last school that month for weed use, Amanda's history hopefully will not hinder her chances of getting onto the course.
The website was told by the admissions department: 'The school does not hold mental illness against any applicant. If they're qualified and able to engage in studies, that's all that matters.'
The earliest she could be admitted next Fall after TMZ claimed that Amanda was kicked out of FIDM for drug use and misconduct.

They considered source Rachel Loritz, a student at the school, who said: 'Amanda often ditched classes but even when she showed up, she was clearly high, and not good at hiding it she almost always wore sunglasses and laughed out loud at inappropriate times.'
After her recent misuse of Twitter, Amanda and her strange behaviour returned to the social media site in December with a bizarre declaration that she was Britney Spears.

On Tuesday, the embattled 28-year-old took avoided one of her long rants and instead, simply wrote: 'I'm Britney Spears.'

On Tuesday Amanda Bynes, pictured December 6, compared herself to Britney Spears, seen here August

It is not clear from the tweet whether Amanda is aspiring to be like the Toxic singer - who is currently back on top - or whether she is accepting, like Britney, she too is having her struggles.
Now looking great and performing in a multimillion dollar show, the 33-year-old has come a long way since her infamous mental breakdown in 2007 that saw her shave her head, hospitalised and be placed under the conservatorship of her parents.

Amanda has of course suffered her own breakdown over the last year, with her parents taking over as conservators and having her placed in involuntary metal health care before they stepped back after the Easy A actress accused her father of sexually molesting her.

During their respective meltdowns, crisis manager Sam Lufti has also played a role in their lives.
Sam was Britney's manager at the time of her mental health issues and accused by the star's parents of drugging her and taking control of her finances.

Long road: Now looking great and performing in a multimillion dollar show, the 33-year-old has come a long way since her infamous mental breakdown in 2007 (pictured) that saw her shave her head, hospitalised and be placed under the conservatorship of her parents

Amanda's parents Rick and Lynne meanwhile, reportedly reached out to Sam who then helped orchestrated getting the star back into California and under a involuntary psychiatric hold.

Amanda's latest Twitter post is one of just a handful the very active social media user has posted.
On December 6, she returned to Twitter after not been seen in public or tweeting in almost a month.
In the photo, the troubled 28-year-old exposed her flat stomach and pierced belly wearing a colour block crop top ensemble while out shopping and included the note: 'I'm loving Boutique Jules!'
Then, on December 9, the star wrote on Twitter a rather introspective quote: 'If you aren't my friend at my worst then you aren't my friend at my best.'
A day later she continued: 'When ur madly in luv with somebody u'll do whatever they want [sic].'
Prior to that, the star had kept silent for after a troubling audiotape - in which she claimed to have dreamt of murdering her parents - was released last month.
Although she later took to Twitter to clarify that she was only joking, those messages have been taken down.
'By the way - I was obviously joking about hurting my family - I straight up don't believe in harming a soul,' she initially tweeted hours after the report was posted on November 15.
'I said what I said in jest & if you don't understand that then know I'm in therapy to talk about my dad issues and that will solve my concerns with ppl invading my private life,' she added.

The recorded rant surfaced as Amanda's parents moved to Texas to be closer to another daughter and their grandchildren.
Back on October 10, the Easy A star's erratic behaviour prompted her to be involuntarily committed for a second time.
But just weeks she was released from a psychiatric treatment facility in Pasadena, California and began engaging again in odd antics including falling asleep in the middle of a crowded mall.
The next scheduled conservatorship meeting for the former child star has been set for February 2015.

I wonder who is feeding these stories to the press. Why is it so important to make the public think she is "off her meds" when most people know that it is counterintuitive to treating her illness?

Her pupils in that selfie suggest she has something on board.

I'm not sure why no one has been given custodianship over her. This isn't a condition she can ever not be medicated for and the drugs she will be on cannot just be stopped, they have to be weaned off. The problem is when she is stable she will have mental capacity and so has to be given legal control of her life. The best thing for her is to help her understand why she needs to be on meds and the only reason she feels stable is because she's on meds.
