I'm hoping at least someone out there does one of these things with new bags:

Use your new bag before you leave the store

Watch TV with your bag

Sleep with the bag on your bed

Invent reasons to take your new bag out

Stare aimlessly at the bag

Name your bags ( I don't do this because I can never remember names)

Warn people not to touch/use/come too close to your new bag, especially children which is kind of mean but if you spend a lot of money on it you need to be careful just like DH is with whatever new technology he just bought.

LOL..

I gotta say, I'm only guilty of not letting kids and pets around my bags.
Don't trust children with their dirty little hands, and my dogs stay far and away from my bags.
In fact, they're all in their dust bags, tucked away in my dresser.

I am guilty of two on the list. I don't let anyone close to any of my precious, and I name them (Which my husband always jokes asking what is this one called) lol

You are not crazy, just passionate :D

Guilty! :roflmfao:

I always sleep with my bag beside the bed, if not in bed with me. The BF has a problem with the bag joining us in bed so it's strictly for when he's somewhere else and I need a friend. :p

Sometimes I just sit there, looking at my bags and whenever I'm feeling down, I go and open my bag closet for instant comfort. I can sometimes watch a whole movie cradling a bag, doesn't even have to be new. Right now we're watching an epic finnish comedy with my new-to-me Mulberry Euston who just got a little bit of love in the form of saddle soap. He (it's def a he) looks brand new now! I'm so happy

Almost all of the other points also apply, one way or another.

To be passionate about your hobby is not wrong. I just ran into a woman who shared my passion; she carried a pretty Furla Metropolis and I asked her about the durability and practicality, the next thing I knew 5 minutes of enthusiastic bag talk had happened! So good to know you're not alone, right? :smile1:

Most of things sound familiar to me too

I also sometimes:

have a 'display bag of the day/week/month in my living room or hall' (not the one I'm using, oh no, something too precious to use everyday or from my 'archive')

take old bags to see their 'family' when I know I'm visiting the 'family' store

I do take new bag out for "Christening" journey. Always feels special.
And have coat rack, near bed, where I hang bags to admire. Rotate as mood strikes.

Also stand in closet, staring @ labeled dustbags. All the bags sleeping--
Peaceful, smelling of leather & cloves (to deter moths from wool stuff :D).

And ask aloud, "I wonder what bag to take?" Then grill for details about upcoming excursion.
Also will comment, "My bag is hungry. Needs cheesecake," when out with others who've forgotten to feed me.

Possibly, op, you are the more sane one. ;)

Every. Single. One (except the naming). Curated displays in the bedroom.

Bag stays close wherever I go:

on or near the couch for TV
on my lap in restaurants
on my lap during daily train commute: cuddling, petting, and staring at bag, snuggled in my lap, for 1.5 hrs each way - 3 hrs a day to love on my bags. Safer for drivers this way -- (because when driving, I'd steal glances at bag in passenger seat!)
On my lap in dentist's chair during entire process of numbing, drilling, and filling a tooth: squeezing my security bag as the novocaine needle goes in!

So - are you weird or sick? Not around here, you're not. You're among friends here: you'd be weird or sick if you WEREN't doing these things!

Showed this thread to hubby. He said you do all of these! When I take a few bags out he says-going to play with your purses again? Well, I am too old to play with dollies, am I?

Haha......nothing sick or weird sounding to me in this question. I haven't named them, but I do bring it in the bedroom when I go to bed. For safekeeping:). Shudder to even think about putting it on the floor or within reach of darling but grubby little hands and paws. And when I fly, I use my Vera bags because they can and do go right into the washing machine when I return home. I would never ever put one of my other bags on an airplane floor. Shoot, if I could fit, I'd sit on the stupid floor myself before I put one of my bags down there LOL!
