Am I the only one who doesn’t use my Kelly 28 Sellier?

Thanks OP — I’ve been thinking the same thing as of late, but with my K32 sellier. I much much much prefer retourne, but it took me owning a sellier to realize this. Mine is a Vache Natural — one of my favorite leathers — which is why I haven’t parted with it yet. Still scratching my head here. Lol

Yes! IKWYM! I, like SpicyTuna13, had a VN K32, and just couldn't do it.. Sad, because it was sooo beautiful, and I adore the natural leathers. Ended up selling it, but I really don't regret doing so. Honestly, I had a really hard time using her. Banged into everything every time, and felt so bad about that.
Now, I DO have a K25 sellier in Chevre, and I carry her all the time. She's almost my everyday, and I haven't had the same issue. So maybe smaller sellier works better for me!

I have the exact same bag, K28 Sellier, Noir in Epsom. I use it at least once a month, and have taken it on several trips. It works for me as a bag to go into NYC with, or for date nights and ladies nights out. I have a Jane Finds strap extender and wear it cross body as well. I'm 5'1", and love mine, but if it's not for you, it's not for you.

Thanks for the post. I’m enjoying reading the responses. I also got this bag just last year and I also find it very formal to use. Same reasons for getting it ..it’s a classic and gorgeous looking. I would never sell it as it’s a heritage bag. However I’m not a black bag person normally and my bleu Frida Birkin in Swift gives me more joy. I also travel a lot and I find it’s too precious to use out of the country. I am hoping to get a K25 retourne which would be more carefree I think.

I had a 32 Kelly Retourne and used it a lot for traveling. Sold it because the color wasn't really right for me and I really wanted the sellier. Now that I have the Sellier, which I'd never sell, I'd like to add another retourne in a black or grey this time.

I feel very similar and use mine for nice restaurant meals. I am eying more casual h crossbody bags for travel nowadays.

I have a K28 Sellier in RG and I love it. I guess it depends on your preferences and lifetsyle. Personally I like my bags structured and looking solid hence the Sellier. Of course, given a chance (and extra money), I would love to add a Retourne K28 into my collection for casual days. At the end, I guess you should love and enjoy your bags :)

I have 1 K28 sellier but prefer the retourne. I find sellier too boxy and rigid. My lifestyle is casual and this is too formal for me. For that reason I wouldn’t buy any more sellier bags going forward. Same with the Birkin too. I have a B25 Sellier and don’t reach for it as much as I would like to

I have a K28 sellier in gris asphalt. i absolutely love it. It is a little rigid but I got it in togo so I think that might be a touch easier to get into. But I dress it up for dinners and dress it down during the day. I have a shorter strap so it sits just above my hip. I like it better that way a bit more secure. I sometimes swap the strap for my Evelyn blue strap to dress it down a bit. I find it so versatile.
I have now done a wish for a K25. My preference would be a sellier but I’m not keen on the box or Epsom leathers so I guess I’m waiting for a retourne.

I have to say that I adore kelly sellier bags in 28 and 25, but don’t use them much bc these days I carry a card case, hand sanitizer and a phone. I don’t need the weight or bulk of a kelly. I’m also an outlier opinion bc I prefer to carry Kelly bags by hand, not cross body.* These past few years, I’ve reverted to a picotin.

I did buy a 28 BB retourne K that I loaned indefinitely to a friend. I don’t really miss it bc I use my Black barenia 30B in its place. Both have brushed hw and burnished patina/weatherized by @docride. I can just chuck stuff like umbrella and iPad into the B30. The barenia can withstand a bit more rough weather. i actually use it in the rain, and it is also less scratch prone than the box K. I wipe the water off, and it remains velvety and gorgeous lol. Basically, I think of Birkin 30s as the perfect retourne bag.

I do prefer the B25 sellier to the B25 kelly. IMO it’s just cuter. But, I’m not the most practical person.

* ETA: IMO a larger kelly 32 is much less unwieldy when you carry it by hand and it makes you look thinner
i most likely will not rehome the K28 retourne permanently bc I certainly don’t want to wake up one day and decide to try another K28 retourne
