Hey all, replying to this! Im not on the site as much as most people so I’m just now replying!

I want to start by saying this wasn’t meant to offend any of you VCA lovers! I simply wanted to start a discussion and hear opinions because everyone seems to love it and I just don’t like it! I should’ve said strongly dislike, but to me strongly dislike and hate are the same lol.

I also probably should’ve made it more clear that I don’t “hate” the whole brand I just strongly dislike the alhambra design!!

Also, I’m not a necklace or earrings person, I only wear bracelets, rings, and watches so that probably makes me a bit biased!

OOPS

I just realized I titled it anyone else hate VCA, I meant to say the Alhambra design.

VCA has some stunning pieces (other then alhambra lol) but the brand isnt my personal style but to each it’s own!

"Hate" is such a strong word for discussing a brand. I understand if you don't like their design or philosophy, but why would you "hate" VCA so much? There are a lot of companies that don't match my taste of jewelries, but I just ignore them and focus on the ones I love.
I don’t mind the brand as a whole! I meant the clover design

I'm sure you're not the only one who dislikes Van Cleef and that is ok! Not everything is for everyone. I adore both brands so I'm an equal opportunity wearer  . Regardless, is it just the Alhambra you dislike? Have you explored some of the other collections? I note Cartier is a bit more gender neutral and universal in their styles (less "frilly" so to speak) but VCA has much to offer beyond the Alhambra: Perlee, Frivole, Floras, Faunas, Pure Alhambra, Fleurette, Zodiacs, high jewelry, etc. Maybe the Alhambra (real and fake) is oversaturated in your part of the world/city/town or your area on social media and it is understandable to feel it is too common (if that's a contributing factor for your dislike). Anyway, if you haven't but you're open to it, take a peek around the website or a boutique and perhaps something might catch your fancy. If not that's ok
Do you just dislike the clover design or VCA in general? Imo VCA gives off a more feminine vibe than other brands. Their creations are more whimsical and elegant. Not everyone’s cup of tea but they have other designs other than the clover/Alhambra line that maybe you can check out?
The clover design! I totally meant to make that more clear and say that in the title but for some reason I said VCA on accident!

While I don’t think you are the only one who absolutely hates VCA, I think you might be the very few who feels that strongly enough to opine that on a forum that discusses its creation.
I totally get it! I meant to say anyone else hate the alhmabra pieces but for some reason I said VCA in the title! They have some other really stunning pieces!

I think the best way for you to understand one’s love for VCA is to start reading the VCA threads and do some self-research. There are many reasons why people love or do not love a piece. You will find a lot of helpful discussion in those threads. Much of the discussion is around the Alhambra line as it is VCA’s iconic collection.

This thread, due to your title and tone of your initial post, has started down a different path. You can see from the responses, these are not the answers you were seeking.

You are new to this forum, so it’s like saying…

“Hi, I’m your new neighbor. I hate your car; anyone else hate your car?”

I suggest you read the threads titled VCA Discussion, Show Your New Purchases, and Action thread.

You will see pieces discussed, pros & cons, modshots, and you will learn more about the brand and collections.

Perhaps you will fall in love with a 5 motif bracelet in a beautiful stone. To me, Alhambra is about the beautiful color of the stones and the detailed milgrain beadwork.

Good luck to you!

i think she might just be sick of seeing them everywhere. i agree, buy what you love because it means something to you. you add the value by wearing it :amuse:
TBH, I don't really see any Vintage Alhambra pieces as much as I see the Love Bracelet in the U.S. I see VCA more in Asia than here. I know at least a dozen women who own the Love Bracelet so I feel like VCA has not really saturated the American market as much as Cartier.

I wonder whether one of us may go over to the Cartier forum and say how we hate Cartier!!!

Battle of the brands…
Cartier’s better!!! (Less filling!)
No, VCA is better!!! (Tastes great!)

Meanwhile, both our wallets are empty, and Richemont laughs all the way to the bank.
Never. I love them both.

I love my MOP pieces because they have special meaning to me. I bought the Vintage MOP necklace when I finished my MBA. Since the clover is a sign of good luck, I thought it was appropriate for the occasion. I then purchased the matching earrings and bracelet because I like the idea of a matching set. :) So for me it was as much about the symbolism, if not more, than the design.

VCA is not just Alhambra. Just like Cartier is not just LOVE or Juste en Clou.

Though I do suggest trying on Alhambra because it’s just so easy to wear and look polished. I’ve seen people rock Alhambra even if they have an edgy style.

Here’s my most recent VCA purchase. It’s every bit as fabulous as it looks.

It’s just a cool, bold idea rockstar cuff. Kinda H. Stern-ish but way more refined and with high quality precious stones.

Like has already been said, everyone has their own style. The first time I came across the Alhambra collection I actually gasped because it was love at first sight. I loved the understated clover inspiration and the "perlee" design around it. I never see VCA out in the wild so it still seems very unique to me.

I personally am not a fan of frivole or guilloche although I can see why people like them. They just don't "speak to me" like Alhambra does. It's not something we can necessarily pinpoint why we like or don't like something, say goes for home decor style, clothing style, and jewelry style. I like chic and understated, not flashy, not too blingy, not chunky, but that is just me, and why I like the quiet/calm non-blingy versions of Alhambra.

I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that the Alhambra collection does nothing for them and that's fine. To each their own!
