ladies the bag was stunning! It wasn’t the color or the hw that I wanted but it was a stunning bag! It took me 1 hr to decide to PASS on itthe leather is very prone to scratches and delicate I wanted more of a Epsom or something more resilient. I was almost crying apologizing to my SA. I feel horrible and sick to my stomach she was very understanding and didn’t pressure at all it hope I didn’t ruin the relationship. I intend on going back at the end of this week to make a few small purchases. Do you think that’s a good idea or should I wait a while? I am so upset this is pic of the bag I passed on...GO AHEAD TELL ME I AM AN IDIOT!

Do you think you are the first & only client to refuse a bag that doesn't make your heart sing??
Your SA understands this & really one thing has nothing to do with another as you are still an H client
in terms of making future purchases & your SA likely will keep an eye out for the bag of your dreams
If you want to make additional purchases no reason to wait...

These bags are way too expensive just to be sitting in ones closet. If the bag didn’t make your heart sing, it is not the one. Well done for passing on. I am sure something better is waiting for you out there!

Wait, wait and wait! It does not ruin your relationship to pass. Good things will come your way. If she made you an offer, another will come. Be patient.

You really need to take a step back. Stop over analyzing the Hermes game. You got an offer, so you’re already off to a great start. People turn down bags all the time and continue to receive offers. I typically turn down 2-3 bags a year before something piques my interest. No need to go in and buy things just because you feel guilty, unless you want to be known as that client that SA’s can treat as a cash cow.

I’m sure it was a stunning bag but this obviously wasn’t right for you. It wasn’t the right color, hardware or leather. Sounds like a no brainer to walk away from it. You wouldn’t be happy with this bag in a months time.

You did the right thing. Sometimes you get frustrated with waiting , think that you've been waiting for so long and the right bag has not yet come ! and once they offer you one that is not the one you want . You try to convince yourself to settle for it . Don't ! and never settle .

When you are offered a bag not in your list , first take a look at it . If your hart drops and you can already see yourself wearing it , imagining it sitting happily in your closet and using it in rotation , then get it . But if you feel unsure , don't buy it. You will end up regretting that and rehoming the bag .

What to do in this situation is to compliment the bag and the leather and color and state that it will look nice on someone but that someone is not you . And that you are going to pass with a heavy heart because you know this bag is someone's HG or dream bag ! and that you hope yours will come in sooner that later with the help of your SA .

Going again never hurts , even to observe and try on things . Never feel the need to please your SA by purchasing more stuff. Having nice conversation helps more than cash . For instance , I purchase small items throw the year , drop constantly and chat or have coffee . I always make my SA know that I am interested in new items and view then when they arrive . If I find something I like I buy it, if not I simply state that it nice but not for me . On the other hand , my sister buys more stuff than me ( expansive stuff ) once every 3 months or so . the drops by the store once in a while and purchase smaller items. We have the same SA , and my sister always complains that he never offers her anything  and I always snatch better bags . He said that early bird gets the worm  and that I am always asking for stuff and get lucky :amuse: and she never asks . So it is more about the relationship than the money .

If you need something , go and buy that , and speak with your SA about your list(colors/size/leather) and hopefully you will get offered a bag before the end of 2019. Never fell intimidated and be clear about your planes .

I declined many bags , and got offered more :flowers:. With hermes it never hurts to ask once in a while. I alway get myself in trouble by asking for a bag and getting an amazing offer that I can't refuse

You did the right thing! You can’t settle, not for these prices and your SA will definitely make you another offer for the leather/hardware combo and size you want. Be strong, wait until the new year then go in to see her. Buy only what you love.

I totally agree with this. There’s this unnecessary fear that’s planted in a lot of newbies. My first two Birkins weren’t colors on my wishlist, and like OP, I was terrified to say no. Actually, I think I was just too impatient to wait. Fortunately, both bags are colors that have really worked for me and I still have them both. Now, many Birkins and kellys later, I’ve turned down many many bags without hesitation before saying yes to a bag I like. I do still go for colors not on my wishlist, but they are colors I like. With the last handful of Birkins and Kelly’s I’ve bought, I probably turned down anywhere from 5-7 offers before each purchase. My SA usually comes back within a few weeks with something I like. No biggie.

Now I need to see the pic of the bag you passed on! Your pic didn’t upload. Please show us!

Don’t feel bad. The right one will come sooner than you think.
