Am I nuts?Do you save your bags because you're afraid to carry them everyday?

I'll be 39 in April. I use every bag I own. Life is way too short!!! In fact, if I don't usually wear a bag right away and it sits in the closet w/the tags on, it's a sign that I didn't love it that much in the first place, so I return it.

I used to save some bags for some special occasions or some events, but the older I get and the simpler my life gets, I just think what the heck! I buy these bag coz I love them so I'm gonna use them. And I'm going to use them all. :) It's a new practice I adopt this year. Slowly but by bit, I'm breaking in my precious bags and I'm loving them and every moment. :)

I do baby my bags in that I am very careful with whichever one I carry. I just don't beat up my bags. However, if I find that I am "afraid" to wear a bag or I simply covet but don't use the bag, it has to go. Just let go of my ultimate Antigona (grey nubuck croce embossed...yes, the one in my avatar). I was so paranoid the few times I wore her and then simply brought her out to look and touch and put her back in storage... thought, nope, gotta let her go. It hurt to say good-bye but these bags are made to be worn, not just sit in a dustbag.

Yes, I rotate my bags very frequently because I want to be able to use them for a long time, I save certain bags for especial occasions as well, so no, I don't think that's nuts~

You know PT- it's funny this but I carried by box plume today in Oxford street. As you can imagine, we barely survived the experience and I thought to myself. "Oh I should not have brought this out, I should carry le pliage or something " then I thought of you and this thread and decided what is the point, of being afraid to use our bags. I already do that with my green Kelly, it was so expensive and irreplaceable, that basically that bag has the highest cost per wear ever- it's ridiculous!:D

+1

ditto this. i use them right away, and if i haven't cut the tags within the first week i usually know it has to go back. if i'm debating a bag in any way it's not one to keep. i believe in using your stuff, and the older i get the more i realize you need to use everything you love... life is too short

I bought my first Chanel bag a month ago, and I really thought that I would baby it and not really use it. I almost sent it back, but I've been using it everyday. It brings me joy, and I worked hard to get it even though I had to go the secondhand route to be able to afford it.
I recently purged all of the bags that I don't use or don't fit where I'm at in my life right now to make room for things that I truly love and enjoy. Life is too short to have things that you love and don't use.

Good thread. I have an LV Poppincourt or something like that given to me as a gift. It's been in the dustbag and box for many years. I don't like it and don't use so I will probably give it away to someone or sell it somewhere. I have started using my bags and will rotate them.

I'm glad to have found this thread! Thanks to eggtartapproved for the heads up! I bought a Bal Velo over the summer and she's been sitting in her dust bag ever since. I need to take her out and enjoy her. I also bought an LV recently and had no problem taking that out. I guess because it's canvas and seems less delicate than the Bal.

I try not to buy bags that are overly delicate because I know I won't carry them, I don't want to have to baby a bag. I'll probably never get a calf hair or nubuck or anything like that for that reason. I tend to carry less expensive bags that it won't matter if they get wet or knocked around a bit. But my poor Bal is so neglected, I should make a point of using her.

Seeing this thread is really making me think twice. Last week I wore one of my LV's and put a black jewelry box directly in my bag, giving the shopping bag back to the sales girl. I was trying to surprise the person I was shopping with at christmas . Well after a day of shopping I get home and there were black marks in quite a few spots in the bag. I totally freaked. I was terrified that when I washed it with a damp cloth it would leave water marks. Luckily it all came out and looks brand new again after a few hours of very gentle careful cleaning. I was not going to wear the bag again for a very long time. I realize now that is crazy and I need to get over the fear. My daughter was hoping the stains would stay so I would allow her to use the bag. How do you become less obsessed with keeping them perfect?

Lucky you! I'm currently looking to buy a Chanel myself [emoji12]. May have to go the same route too...

I've got loads of bags and I make a conscious effort to alternate them every week so i get to use them all.
I don't baby them though; maybe cos I have so many lol.
I've got some friends who freak out if they have to even put their bags on a bare surface! It is amusing 🙄
