I got mine yesterday and the tags do not say what type of leather it is...and my quick review (I took pictures but haven't uploaded them yet)...it looks exactly like the pictures, the leather is thick and soft and pebbled (mine is very even). The bag looks like it woouldn't hold a lot, but it does - but you'd need to pack it for it to have a duffel shape - it kind of collapses because of the weight of the studs on the bottoms. It's heavy but not unbearably so with all my stuff in it, and with summer wear, I can fit it over my shoulder (barely) but wouldn't be able to with a sweater or coat.

Nadine at Mick Margo told me the studs were hollow so maybe it won't be too heavy.
ahhh it was back on the barney's site so I ordered one..... I hope I hate it and have to return it.
So I just ordered on on barneys.com, website says "in stock." What are they odds that I actually get it?
^^^I absolutely hate barneys.com I've placed about 6 orders in the last few months and they have all been cancelled. And then I call to see if they can look for the item I want and they are not helpful at all. I really recommend to call an actual store and/or work with a good SA!
The leather is not jet black, it's a smoky black...here are a few terrible pictures from my cell phone at work. In its natural state, it slumps, but from the side, you can see the round duffel shape. The brass studs do not feel hollow - they feel pretty solid!

how much fits in the bag? can you easily put a book in there? can you put it over your shoulder with stuff in it?
You can fit a book no problem. I have my wallet (checkbook sized), agenda, 2 makeup bags, small notepad, gum, keys, phone, itouch, etc. and it's empty looking!
It barely fits on my shoulder, and sits right in my armpit, so if it's loaded up which makes it more like a duffel bag and rounded as opposed to flat, I don't think that would be too comfortable...because your arm would be resting over a big round bag, if you can envision it.

i called barneys in chicago on monday, and received it on wednesday (yesterday). so call barneys chicago and they may have some! i live near chicago and i feel like chicago tends not to sell out as quickly on much sought after bags as new york or los angeles.
the bag really is lovely. i was debating whether or not to buy it, and i finally did. altho i wish i had done it earlier, so i could have ordered from mick margo and used the 10 percent off code. haha
the bag is small when it comes to width, but it is very deep, so it would fit a regular book and quite a few other things as well. what it lacks in width, it makes up in depth. also the leather stretches out. i currently am breaking mine in.. haven't worn it yet, but i have it stuffed with three sweatshirts (THREE!!) to try and get the leather to even out.
i think i remember reading on the tag that it is 100 percent lambskin. i could check later but i don't feel like taking out those sweatshirts lol.
the bag doesn't really fit on my shoulder. you'd have to be super slender to be able to do that comfortably. otherwise it looks just fine on your arm.
oh and the bag looks smaller when there is less in it. the more stuff there is in it, the bigger it looks, because it fills out the leather and the duffel shape.

mine is sort of like this too. except i've stuffed it, and i expect that with wear the leather will become really nice. i suppose that's the fun of owning this bag!
