Yesterday I had the opportunity Alexander Skarsgård to meet face to Encounter Calvin Klein personally. This was due to the launch of the perfume here at Soho House in Berlin. More about the fragrance itself can be found here.

I must confess that I Alexander Skarsgård only from his role in Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" knew. I'm not a big fan of the vampire myth-Dark Glitter films and series, and have therefore never seen True Blood. So I went right mind into the meet and greet. Alexander is huge, which I had not previously aware of. For the photo he had to almost sit on the floor and commented my "Sorry, I am quite short." With "No problem mate!". Otherwise the interview was very open and honest. He talked about hobbies, experiences and Vikings. Here is a short excerpt:

Q: Is this your first visit in Germany?

A: No, I have ever been to Berlin before because my father worked here for several years. Otherwise, I was in Cologne and Munich to me during the 2006 World Cup to watch two games of the Swedish national team and one more time in Munich, because I for an interview there was Oktoberfest. One day I had a day off and I was able to watch the show closely. Everything is so huge, so many people, so much so much beer and party. Totally crazy!

Q: You come around a lot, but live in Los Angeles. Initially you're Swedish. What are the biggest differences between LA and your home country?

A: I come from a part of Stockholm which was very reminiscent of Berlin. Yesterday I pulled a little bit around the houses and I was really felt at home in Södermalm. Since everything is so close, all the people you know and who you are at heart just around the corner. You call not to look around at those who have the time, but just go out and meet your friends or your family, because everybody lives around the corner. I miss that in LA, because it is so large.

Q: In the short film to Encounter Calvin Klein is about an encounter. Tell us something about it.

A: It's about a man who travels to a woman. In the car, everything is very grim. It is not known how the two go together, whether they are together or not, and how it all ends. Exactly what fascinates me so much about the story. I hate it when I read a script and help me to leave no space for my own thoughts. Everything is pre-programmed and so fake, but in the film to the viewer decides Encounter Calvin Klein with his own imagination how it goes.

After the interview was still widely celebrated. Alexander also shock and had yet to have a few beers before he left the party.

Here's Kaiser's take on the Berlin event, and other things:

Alex Skarsgard would be more likely to bang you if you smelled like sausage

These are some new photos of Alex Skarsgard in Berlin, Germany yesterday. This is how the event is described by WENN: “Alexander Skarsgard at a secret blogger launch event for the new Calvin Klein fragrance ‘Encounter’ at Soho House.” A secret blogger launch event? Sounds suspicious. Sounds like an excuse for Alex Skarsgard to bang bloggers against a bookcase. Right? And all I can think is… why wasn’t I invited to the Blogger Bang? But yes, Alex is the face of Calvin Klein “Encounter”. If your man wears it, he will magically turn into an icy Viking who will drive through a hurricane to bang you against a window. TRUTH.

In other Skars-news, Alex loves the smell of sausages. True story: when I first glanced through these quotes, I read it as “snausages” – you know, those fake sausages that you give to your dog? It’s funnier if you read it as “snausages”.

Alex on his favorite scent: “Well, I have one that’s pretty odd. I grew up in south Stockholm, and it used to be a working class neighborhood. It’s become trendy but not when I was growing up. There was this sausage factory a block away from my childhood apartment. It didn’t smell nice, like chorizo or something, it was pretty foul. Just nasty. But that smell reminds me so much of my childhood, because every morning when I was going to school I would smell that. So if I ever find myself near a sausage factory, I like it. It reminds me of my childhood.”

Alex on his least favorite scent: “I don’t like those artificial air fresheners. They just smell so fake. It’s too much. I know that it’s weird to say that you don’t like the smell of those but like the smell of sausage.”

So, basically, if you want Alex to bang you on a bookcase, you need to dab some snausages behind your ears. For real! And don’t buy those fake air fresheners. Let the smell of snausages permeate through your home, so that when Alex comes to bang you, he will feel at home.

I love Google translate. I tried it with a Finnish article at work. The result was hilarious! :roflmfao:

I'll do a translation when I have some quiet time later, if anyone wants to have one.

re the interview: "No, I was in Berlin before because my father worked here for a couple of years." sounds strange and I think that Alex might have said that Stellan had worked in Berlin a couple of years ago. I believe "Taking Sides" was shot there?

:giggles: Me too. It was that last sentence that totally threw me - was Alexander in shock so they had to give him a few beers or was he in shock 'cos there were only a few beers left? :amuse: So thank you

ETA: Bagberry, they're quick round here :smile1:

ETA2: VampFan Tku for the Celebitchy post - the 1st and last paras - the Kaiser at her best :roflmfao:

ETA3: TinyBee The accurate translation offer is very kind of you, it would be appreciated but only do it you have the time :smile1:

Yeah that made me pause too. I can't remember Stellan having worked here for years. I know he did some German movies (or at least with German actors) in the beginning of the 90s but I don't think they took years to be made. And also I think they were shot in Hamburg. I also don't think that Stellan is fluent in German so it can't be theater either.
Yes, Taking Sides was shot in Berlin, Potsdam and Dresden. It's one of my favorite movies of Stellan. I'm sobbing every time at the end even though I should know by now how it ends. Stellan is sooo good in it.

I can do the translation too. I just thought it's funnier with Google translate. :p

Sorry about the double posting, but my computer is doing things its own way today.

I'm very proud of you for not jumping him like a horny female dog. I see you got the memo about behaving properly around tall men.

Oh drinks are on you? Great! I'd take a beer normally (though no Berliner Pilsner like Alex) but on this special occasion today I think I go with Rotkäppchen. :p

You just have to love Berlin for all its construction places. I think I've never seen anything not being under construction there. :D

So true! :roflmfao:

Rotkäppchen sounds good. Cheers!

:yahoo: I am so pleased for you. I am sitting here with the biggest grin on my face :happydance:I'd have probably been the same, so yeah, you saw the Skars :p I'm still smiling like the Cheshire Cat, so you must be ecstatic :smooch:

Tku :smile1: You rock :D

ETA: Shout out to TinyBee and thanks BagBerry, those Skars pix Santress posted almost made me forget about the drinks  Cheers,Skol,Prost,Woteva we are extremely proud of you :D

I'm happy that I did go. I felt very uncomfortable yesterday because people kept staring at my bruised face, so I almost went home. I'm so glad that I didn't and stayed to see Alex. And yes, there is a very big smile on my face. :D

I was on my best behaviour and only watched him walk right past me. My friends will probably tell you that I was stuck to the chair with an enchanted look on my face. :D

No, I simply wasn't fast enough to jump up and ask him to sign the "True Blood"-DVD-box that I tend to carry around with me. *cough* And there was no way I would have asked him for a photo either because I look like someone fresh out of a pub brawl at the moment due to a kite-surfing accident last weekend. So, I simply took a very long look and felt incredibly stupid because my first thought was "He is really tall!". Let's talk about thinking the obvious...
:shame:

Excellent guess, Bag! Drinks are on me! :D

Well, I'm happy for you......seething with jealousy...jk, but happy.:D

Thank you for this. I hope you don't mind but as I had to use Google translate I thought I may as well post the article up here whilst I was faffing around :smile1:

Q: Ist dies dein erster Besuch in Deutschland?

Total krass!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet Alexander Skarsgård, the face of Encounter Calvin Klein, personally. Reason for this was the launch of the fragrance at Soho House here in Berlin.

I have to admit that I knew Alexander Skarsgård only from the video of Lady Gaga's Paparazzi. I'm not a fan of those dark vampire-myth-glitter movies and shows therefore I haven't seen True Blood. This given I went unbiased into the Meet&Greet. Alexander is huge, I wasn't really aware of this before. For the picture he almost had to sit on the ground and commented on my "Sorry, I'm quite short" with "No problem, mate!" The interview was very open and honest too. He talked about hobbies, experiences and vikings. Here a short excerpt.

Is this your first visit to Germany?

No, I've been to Berlin before because my father worked here for several years. Additionally I was in Cologne and Munich during the World Cup 2006 to watch two games of the Swedish national team, and another time in Munich for an interview during the Oktoberfest. I had a day off so I could view the spectacle. Everything's so big, so many people, so much beer and lots of party. Absolutely rad!

You get around a lot but you do live in LA. Originally you're Swedish. What's the biggest differences between LA and your home country?

I am from a neighborhood in Stockholm that reminds me a lot of Berlin. Yesterday I strolled around a bit and felt very much at home in Södermalm. There everything's so close, everyone you know and who's close to your heart is just around the corner. You don't call first to see who has time but instead you just go out and meet your friends or family because they live around the corner. That's what I miss in LA because everything's so big.

The short film for Encounter Calvin Klein is about an encounter. Tell us something about it.

It's about a man who's on his way to a woman. In a car, everything's dark. You don't know in which way they belong together, if they belong together or not and how it ends. That's what fascinated me about the story. I hate it when I read a script and there's no space left for own thoughts. Everything's bound to occur and artificial but with this film for Encounter Calvin Klein the viewer decides with his imagination what happens next.

Interview about Season 5 with SFX UK:

Alex-entertainment-focus.jpg

True Blood: Alexander Skarsgard Interview

Everybody loves Eric in True Blood which is why Sarah May tracked down the actor who plays him, Alexander Skarsgard, to talk about season five.

True Blood season five is airing in the UK on FX on Monday nights at 10 pm.

This is the season of the Eric-Bill bromance. How does Eric feel about that?

“It’s weird. Eric doesn’t care about many people or vampires. He has a handful – Godric, Pam, Nora his sister, and Sookie – that he’s very loyal to, but not many, so it’s a discovery for Eric that he cares about Bill. He never hated Bill, he just thought: ‘Pah! Naïve young little vampire who believes in humanity still…’ So it’s weird for him when he’s suddenly protecting and saving Bill. He’ll say, ‘I’m not leaving without you.’ The discovery of, ‘I actually like this guy,’ it’s definitely a new feeling for Eric.”

How much fun is the bromance to do?

“It’s been a little too much fun. Stephen Moyer and I are good friends, so after four years of us fighting over Sookie and butting heads, it’s been fun playing something different, playing that Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid banter, but we were both so excited, it got kind of silly. We had to remind ourselves, “Oh f**k, we’ve got to remember that the stakes are pretty high.”

Might Eric and Sookie get back together this season? Because Eric seems to get over her quite quickly when we meet his sister…

“Well, the relationship with Nora is quite different. And with Sookie, he’s not over her, it’s more about that he punishes himself because he opened up and let her in. Last season even after the spell was gone, he said, ‘I still want you,’ and she said no! So he’s like, ‘You f**king idiot, this is what happens when you open up, this is the reason you have this wall around yourself emotionally, because when you let a human in, you get hurt!’ So even though there is still obviously a connection he’s very much… No.”

Is work still fun after five years?

“Yeah, I was worried, in the beginning, because on a movie, you read the whole thing, so you can plan it. On this show I didn’t know how season five would end until a few days before we started shooting because we didn’t have the scripts yet, so that’s weird and scary, but creatively that’s good, to be a little intimidated. I didn’t know, ‘Am I going to be challenged after four, five, six years?’ But it’s never been repetitive. Alan and the writers keep it interesting. Last year I got to work on a completely different side of the character with the amnesia, and this year I have the bromance, so five years in, I’m still excited.”

What do you like about Eric?

“Eric? I love him. He’s been around for a thousand years so he doesn’t really give a f**k. He’s seen it all, done it all. Initially what attracted me to him was that they introduced him as a villain, and I loved that because I knew that there was more to him than evil. I think we’ve all got both forces within us, and I loved that you had to back up and go, ‘Wait a minute! I wanted him to be a villain but now I sympathise with what he’s doing.’”

Where does your inspiration come from to play a vampire?

“For inspiration I went back and watched Max Schreck and Bella Legosi and Nosferatu and all those classic old vampire movies. It was also about finding the humanity within the character. Inspiration can come from anything: your younger brother does something or you watch animals on television and that inspires you, where you’re like, ‘That’s pretty cool, I’m going to steal that.’”

@tinybee hey cool you saw him.we were not that lucky but had 3 bril sunny days in Berlin.I like Berlin
even though Bagberry is right it seems that everything is under construction.

 At least you enjoyed yourselves in sunny Berlin :smile1:

TinyBee - you did us proud. And you could have gone for the sympathy effort with the bruise. If we had any Italians on the board, we could go two for two...BC, did you say you were there?

You squirrels never miss a trick - always going for the sympathy vote ;)
Re Italy - there is an excellent Italian website, similar to SkarsgardNews, that I used to trawl about a year or so ago but I can't find it now as I have to go out, (I know real life huh, what's that about), but I'm sure we'll be fine as most of it will be repeats and what we don't understand we'll just revert to type and fill in the gaps :amuse:

ETA: Santress Tku for the SFX article :smile1: and the 'handsome' photo :p
