True Blood finale: awesome or what the bloody hell just happened? (spoilers)
The finale for True Bloods fifth season aired last night. Instead of doing a full recap of this show, Ill just give you some highlights that someone more motivated and organized than I am compiled. This show is somehow ridiculous, awesome and campy all at the same time and theres no way Im not tuning in next season to see what happened with crazy Bill, the evil Phoenix rising from the pool of ancient blood. A lot of vampires bit it in the finale, and enough remained to prove dangerous, particularly Bill. Bill is the new Russell Edgington, since we had the pleasure of seeing Edgingtons face melt. Other awesome deaths included Rosalyn dying after Sam shifted inside her (brilliant!) and Salome getting staked by Bill after he slipped some silver in her drink. I want to know why some vampires faces transform for a few seconds when they die and others just explode immediately. It seems to correspond with how central a character they are to the show.
Anyway here are some highlights from last night. Well have to wait until next year to see what happens, but you know Sookie isnt going to die. Must all roads lead to fing Sookie? Im with you, Pam.
Goodbye Awesome: R.I.P. Russell Edgington (Denis OHare). He was the absolute coolest. Psychotic and power hungry, Russell obviously had to die, but we will miss his perfect speeches and (sometimes) irresistible Southern charm. After some fairy light rays and quick action, Eric finally got his centuries-old vengeance. Eric saves Sookie (Anna Paquin) yet again.
Father of Fairies: It was only last week that Andy (Chris Bauer) slept with Maurella (Kristina Anapau) and found out that he was going to be a father. In one of the more hilarious ridiculous scenes, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis), Arlene (Carrie Preston) and Holly (Lauren Bowles) are all on hand to witness the miracle of life and Maurellas interesting reaction to birthing and post-labor. Surprise! Andy has four babies and its the fathers job to raise them. Peace out!
Bill Is the New Lilith: Bills arc throughout this season has been his path to religious fanaticism. Hes slowly and methodically weeded out the competition for top dog in this nuthouse. His final action was poisoning Salome (Valentina Cervi). And if you thought Bills crazy death explosion was shocking, so was his ascent out of the blood pool.
Americas Next Top Model premieres with crazy coeds.
Shift and Rescue Operation: Adorable puppy Emma needs some rescuing. While Sam (Sam Trammell) tries to appeal to Bills non-psycho side, Luna (Janina Gavankar) skinwalks into Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian). Good plan, no? No! Steve Newlin is in a bit of hot water for killing some frat boys and has to go on TV to talk himself out of trouble. Meaning Luna does. But remember this shifting into humans is bad for shifters. Season six consequences, yall.
Rightful Place: Theres a new sheriff in town. Alcide (Joe Manganiello) finally takes his place as pack leader. Hes hot and good at making speecheshell definitely do well in his new position. Presuming he doesnt go power hungry like Bill.
Rewind Moment: After some longing looks and a little banter, Tara (Rutina Wesley) and Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) finally make out. And there was a very brief Pam and Eric reunion. Presuming everyone survives to next season, we need more of our favorite Maker-Progeny. Pam and Eric have been separated far too long this season, it makes us hurt deep in our hearts.

I agree that the makeout session between Tara and Pam was awesome, as was Jessicas reaction: I knew it! I paid no attention to the werewolf subplot, and the fairy birth scene was just mildly amusing, not hilarious. I did like how the peanut gallery at Merlottes kind of voiced our thoughts on how ludicrous yet entertaining some of this season was, particularly when they were watching TV and witnessed Steve Newlin shift back into Luna. Lafayette said I did not see that shift coming, or was it sh*t?
Also, what the hell was going on with Jason seeing visions of his dead parents and suddenly turning against all vampires? I mean he came through when it counted, and he didnt kill the good guys, but I feel like his character is constantly getting the shaft. Hes smarter and more aware than anyone seems to give him credit for, particularly the writers. Jason already went through all this when he rejected the Fellowship of The Sun.
Next season, I see more of a lasting romantic relationship between Sookie and Eric, and I see Bill getting deprogrammed somehow and coming to his senses. I could be wrong, he could bite it or go into hiding like Russell, only emerging at the end of the season when they need another villain. Ive read most of the books but Ill be damned if I can remember the plot, which isnt a guide to the series at all anyway.
If you didnt get enough True Blood, HBO has a bonus scene available on their website. I wont give away any details, but I will say that I enjoyed it and am looking forward to next season.

Sooo, what did u guys think of the season finale?

Will miss Russ though, he was hysterical. Pam and Tara; loved it (I was like ''bout time bi.tches (in best Lala-voice)')
Was a bit disappointed in Russ' death scene, he survives everyting and then suddenly is killed that easily? (Everyone says Eric staked him, but as far as I understood he died because of the faeries). Hope Newlin comes back.
Didn't really care for the were storyline (hides behind couch). Arlene and the gang commenting on the birth was funny as hell. I love Andy, hope they make the babydaddy storyline work next season. No idea what they are gonna do with Jessica/Lala/Arlene now. Their storylines seem kinda finished.
The shifter-storyline was nicely put together with the vamp storyline, Sam can't catch a break so Luna will probably die and he will raise Emma with her grandma.
As for Warlow; I don't even know what to think of that anymore..
Think Jason will be a problem upcoming season (see the bonus scene and what he was thinking). Nora will be a problem too, she is no longer the most important girl anymore for Eric (Pam/Sookie are). And she is a bit obsessed with Sookie. I smell a 'Eric kills her to protect Sookie'-storyline coming up.
As for Bilith.. I think he will survive till the end of next season, He will be the ultimate enemy. I am curious to see what his powers will be (since the original Lilith wasn't real and right now Eric and Sookie can see him, assuming that means Bilith is the real deal).
I gotta feeling Sookie will be the one who eventually kills him, I hope Eric doesn't do anything silly and dies trying to save her. Then Bill and Eric will be dead and Sookie (who can't be alone
) will end up with Alcide. Or Bill becomes normal again eventually, but I doubt it. He left Sookie because he wanted power (and became King), so it seems wanting power/control is part of his character.
As for 'vamps being in danger'; Luna told everyone on tv that vamps are not so nice.. (Oh really.. after all the new babyvamps tearing people a new one? Didn't notice that) Wonder how that turns out.
I do hate that Christopher Meloni didn't show up again in some sort of way. They didn't do much with his character, but was billed as a new/spectacular char this season. Ah well.
So far my opinion and predictions
Btw, I am still shocked about the time that has passed during the storylines. I keep forgetting 1 season is like a couple of weeks (or less) on TB. Except the one where Sookie disappeared for almost a year.
When the fae talked to Andy knocking her up, I suddenly realized it wasn't years..It was weeks. Crazy. I keep assuming it's like years, but no, it's weeks

Not only did Stephen do a great job this season, I thought he looked better in S5 than in previous seasons. As I mentioned earlier, I think AB redeemed himself a little in my eyes this season with his handling of Eric. AB and the director of this episode mention that Eric staked Russell.
