Here is an interesting interview from Lars Von Trier after the persona non grata from Cannes.

http://www.indiewire.com/article/2011/05/20/interview_lars_von_trier_i_will_never_do_a_press_conference_again
The interviewer also does an interesting narration/recap of Melancholia.

Do we know if Alex's character dies in Melancholia? Here they say Kirsten's character is mentally unstable and Alex's character departs early in the movie.

BTW: read Zachary's comments at the bottom of the article.

I think Lars is a humanist? No?

Not sure about the gifs but videos aren't too hard. Just click the YouTube icon in the upper right corner of your post screen and insert the letter/numbers that follow the v= in the YouTube url between the [ YOUTUBE] and [ /YOUTUBE] brackets.

I'm a tax-paying American and small business owner in the great state of Louisiana. I also happen to be a vampire.

Now the past year there's been a lot of inflammatory talk from politicians warning their constituents not to trust vampires. The truth is vampires are as different from each other as humans are and we ask only to be treated as such.

Thanks for all the vids Santress -

TBster I don't think he dies but the two parts of the movie have some time gap between them from something I read and I think Dunst's character's depression may have killed the marriage by then...

^ thank you!

i found this on tumblr this morning
from http://www.expressen.se/noje/film/1...ard?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

some one translated parts of it
“Melancholia” starts off with Kirsten Dunst sitting with fellow actor Alexander Skarsgård in a white limousine, newlywed and “happy,” on their way to their wedding party.
- “It was actually the very first scene we shot. We had just met and it was an intense feeling, being newlyweds, husband and wife. But it was very easy to kiss Alexander,” Kirsten Dunst says, laughing.

- “I love Alexander. He is cute, funny, a really good actor and amusing, yes … amusing. And good-looking. A little TOO good-looking for Lars von Trier,” says the American.

- “There is a scene in the movie where we are getting undressed, and when Alexander took off the clothes on his upper body Lars screamed: ‘No, no, no, stop, stop, you are TOO hot!’ So Alexander had to take off his trousers instead and keep the socks on
, hahaha.”

Here is the full article from Expressen. I google translated the article so it's not perfect but I think we can understand it.

Kirsten Dunst: I love Skarsgård

CANNES. Just as she wants to talk about Lars von Trier's Nazi-scandal, as well is she talking about how it was to "marry" with Alexander Skarsgard.
- I love Alex so much. A REALLY good looking man, "says Kirsten Dunst.
The Swede was even ON neat.

The 29-year-old American did not have time to sit, until the issues of Lars von Trier's outrageous assortment of Film Festival, hails.
At first, she nods kindly.
- I know very well Lars. One should not talk that way and he was very remorseful afterwards.
- It was awful foolish, but there was no one who walked away from the press conference. It was a show ...
An exceptional role
But as "persona non grata" are mentioned for the fourth time, Dunst enough.
- Is this all we are talking about! I have made a major role and have worked so hard, she screams.
- Can we just stop. It is not fair to me as an actor!
And she actually just right in.
Spider Man's girlfriend makes a totally incomparable role as depressed Justine in Lars von Trier's "Melancholia," a character based on the director's own depression.
Liberating experience
- It was hard and painful, exhausting, but Lars gave me the chance to be very vulnerable and we had talked a lot about the experiences he had been through.
- It is the most demanding role I've done and the most liberating experience I ever had.
- Lars knows better than any director how to work with actors, "says Kirsten Dunst.
"Melancholia" begins with Kirsten Dunst sitting with his opponent Alexander Skarsgard in a white ilmousin, newlyweds and "happy", on their way to their wedding party.
- It was actually the very first scene we shot. We had just met and it was an intense feeling, we were first married, husband and wife.
- But it was very easy to kiss Alexander, Kirsten Dunst says, laughing.
- I love Alexander. He is cute, funny, a really good actor and funny, yes ... amusing.
And so he was nice, a little TOO nice for Lars von Trier, says the American.
Alexander without pants
- There is a scene in the movie where we are going to strip us, and when Alexander took off his upper body screamed Lars: "No, no, no, stop, stop, you are THE hot!"
- So Alexander had to take off his trousers in place and keep the socks on, hahaha.
What was it like recording in Trollhattan?
- It was nice and intimate. All who were there were far from their homes and families so it was like a little camp.
- Kiefer (Sutherland) cooked tacos one night, just such a thing, "said Kirsten.
