Congrats, I don't find it cumbersome at all. It's a great school and/or work bag. But I would say that it will get slightly heavy if you have a few heavy textbooks in it.

Cool! All I usually bring, anyway, are a notebook and small textbook. I'm sure it'll be fine.

Congrats! I love mine and use her more than any other bag. It can get heavy if you take more than one heavy textbook but since you will have a small text and notebook you will be fine. She's my workhorse bag!!
