NEW UPDATE

Today is Day 7 of the open dispute, and I received a new message from Ebay! They wrote:

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the issue with your item. We
are providing you with a pre-paid label to return the item directly to
the seller.

The label should be used within the next week. Click on the link below
to print the label from home. A tracking number and detailed
instructions for drop off and pick-up of your item are also included
with the label. For your convenience, this label allows you to use UPS
or USPS (United States Postal Service) to ship your package.

So I'm going to now take lots of pics and then I'll ship it out. I was thinking of doing it by UPS with signature confirmation, tracking, full insurance. Whaddya think? :smile1:

I also called Ebay today to follow up and ask about how this is all going to work. They said that I should send the item back to the seller. Then call Ebay once the item arrives to the seller (I will know via the tracking number). Then Ebay will give the seller 3 days to give me a FULL refund. If she doesn't after 3 days, then Ebay will provide me with a FULL refund,"on behalf of the seller"! And they will charge the seller that refund amount. (I suppose it will show on her monthly Ebay bill??? )

I know that I did not get my money back yet, but I'm so excited!

As always, I will keep everyone posted!

You're welcome!

Since my claim was through PayPal I never had them mail me a pre-paid label, though it would have been nice. I think if they have mailed you the label to use you should be able to use it for goodness sake. Maybe it's worth a call to see if you actually need to add servies on. You can add servies with USPS, such as insurance, we do it with pre-paid labels all the time.

Linda

It's good to know the post office will allow you to add on additional services like insurance, Linda!!! UPS said they could not do it when I tried to use one of Ebay's pre-printed labels.

When I had to return a package to a seller Ebay emailed me a "pre-paid" label. However, it did not include tracking and signature confirmation. When I took it to UPS they told me I could NOT add on those things and if I wanted them they would have to print an entirely new label.......meaning that I would end up paying the entire cost of return shipping. Since I wanted to win my case I paid for the whole thing.

So, be sure when you ship that you specifically ask the carrier if the label you got covers tracking and signature confirmation. Take nothing for granted.

I've been off the forums for a few days but came back to check on this and am SO happy to see that you'll be getting your $$ back! Agree with merrydish that you definitely need to check on adding on those services. I'm 99% sure that USPS will allow you to add them on, but you'll need to take it to the counter and talk to them. If you get sig. confirmation and insurance and tracking and they scan it in right then and there, you should be good to go.

NEW UPDATE

I sent the bag back to the seller earlier this week, and choose to use UPS. I wanted to add on signature confirmation and insurance like some of your suggested, but the UPS guy said that I would not be able to add those services to the pre-paid ebay UPS label. So I sucked it up and paid $50 for a new UPS label, which included their packaging, a new tracking number, signature confirmation, and full insurance. (It is $50 out of pocket for the return, but I was happy to pay it to just get the situation remedied as quick as possible).

The package was successfully delivered to the seller yesterday. Ebay had asked me to contact them when the package was received. So today, I called ebay and told them the new tracking number and that the package was delivered. The customer rep took down the tracking number and said he would need a few minutes to verify everything with his manager. I waited for about 5-10 minutes on the phone (which seemed like an eternity at the time.... and finally when he returned he said, " The delivery is verified. Everything is okay. So now Ebay will now give you a FULL REFUND and it will be posted to your paypal account later today. This is our final decision and I will proceed to close the case."

That was music to my ears!!! :wlae:

I just checked paypal and the full refund is now credited back to my account!
So I have one more important thing to say...
THANK YOU SO MUCH, tpfers!!!! :ty: I am very grateful for all of you who shared along the way your advice, wisdom, encouragement, and similar experiences. You have been so generous with your support during this emotional ebay rollercoaster and I feel very fortunate. :hugs:

GOOD FOR YOU TUX!!

Question.. did you happen to say anything at all to the Ebay rep about having to buy a new shipping label due to the fact that the shipping label provided by ebay did not sufficiently cover your butt for the return??
Really concerns me that they are handing out labels that won't provide accurate coverage/proof on the return.

Ellie,

Yes, when I called ebay to tell them the new tracking number and that the package was delivered. I gave a brief explanation that I bought a new shipping label because I wasn't able to add on features such as signature delivery, and it was important to me to have proof that the package was signed for and not dropped off at someone's front door step. The ebay rep just took it all in, and made sure he had the story correct, then he said he had to convey the details to his manager and he'd get back to me. So I guess the ebay customer rep manager decided that it was okay.

OK... I had hoped they might respond to the fact that their shipping label was lacking some key features to being able to prove your return. But, obviously he ignored that or did not get it.

I do hope they will refund your shipping costs?:smile1:

Thanks the-chus, LindaP and abbiesmommy!

mmmsc, I think the $50 shipping cost is the the lost that I have to bear. They closed the case already. (Although, I did save and make a pdf of the UPS tracking slip and the UPS receipt showing that it was $50.) But honestly, given the situation and all the turmoil, I am just happy that the $800 was fully refund. :p
