I want to add that I personally like the build your own diamonds but they are more expensive ..... if you are looking for a good deal for a nice sparkle in your ear, I would think you still cannot go wrong with the bluenile preset one's ;)
JMO of course :D

Funny how the links stop working.... but yeah, if you go to the blue nile site, you can play with the settings till you find something acceptable to you. I still think that the SI1 or SI2 clarity is fine for earrings, esp in the smaller carat weights.

I have a pair of the pre-set .25ctw in 18k wg in the 4 prong and they don't droop (too light) and have enough sparkle that I wear in my secondary holes. I also used the "build your own" to get my mom a pair of .92ctw wg, in the 3 prong basket setting & they don't droop either, and they're ideal cut SI clarity I color. You can find pics of the them in the reference section.

yeah that is weird :shrugs:

OK I was going to say you would definitely be a better person to ask having actually purchased from bluenile :p
I am strictly going by the information I have researched on pricescope and my own preferences of course :smile1:

you are super helpfull, thanks! Junkenpo, your moms earrings are so nice!

I am looking at a few options now. My bank offers a saving program, your get point for the amount in your savings account and you can shop in their special store. They offer 18k yellow gold 4 prong studs with a total weight of .18ct vs (not stated if it's 1 or 2) and H color. Also there is nothing mentioned about the cut but this is a very reputate dealer. The original price is €500 according to them and with the points €300. They are upgradable within 2 years and you only need to go 25% bigger but upgrading isn't really importaint since they will be super expensive with this company

The Bluenile pre-made diamond studs in .25ctw, .33 ctw or .50ctw. Prices are 250, 320, 540 euro's excluding 19% vat so i don't know if this is a good deal. Junkenpo, how does the quality compare of your studs and your moms?

Build your own studs, this will be around 750 euro's excluding 19% vat. Ideal cut, atleast I color and SI1

I just got two pairs of small studs for my daughters -- 0.25ctw each pair set in 14k WG 3-prong martini. Very cute and sparkling. One of my daughters is still very little -- so I wear her pair now :sweatdrop: and put my own pair away (1.30ctw). It's ideal cut/G/H/SI. For small earlobe like what I have, it looks pretty nice.

I got it from www.briangavindiamond.com -- you need to call since it's not avail online.
You can tell them it's Jane who got two pairs of 0.25ctw studs referring you.
You can also check out whiteflash.com where you will find pre-set studs which is with stones from its Expert Selection. You can call and ask for Traci -- she is my SA.

Thanks for the compliments to mom's earrings! Mom's are much better quality & since they are bigger with a better cut, definitately more noticable and sparkly on the ear.

I think for the smaller ctw (under .50ctw), the pre-made is a good bargain. I took some pics of my little studs and posted them in the reference section (link below). Diamonds are so hard to photograph well! lol... the first batch of pics I was trying to see if I could show clarity/color.. and the 2nd batch of pics I actually CLEANED the diamonds & found more sunlight... and what a difference a little cleaning made! I forget that sometimes.

I also threw in a sloppy pic of my ear, just to give a size reference. They are not big earrings at all, but I like them for my 2nd holes.

Pics are post 51 & 52 in the reference section.

eta: some people don't really like the screwbacks, but it's peace of mind for me becuase I don't worry at all about losing them, and even wear them to sleep! lol

Thanks junkenpo, the size isn't even super small, you could wear them solo. The picture you took with the light reflecting on the table i really pretty.

buy the way, i can order from whiteflash and i like the quality i'm just not sure if it is worth the hastle with the extra customs fees

For size reference here are my Tiffany's studs (0.62 ct, I / VS2) I find them perfect size for everyday and they sparkle nicely too.

Oh I'm sorry! I thought you said they would not ship overseas :shame:

I think martini's sit flush on your ear better if I am not mistaken.
I have two sets of the 4 prong currently but plan on getting another pair and will probably get a martini setting. I will also then reset the ones I have.

i like the martini setting too! my studs are fairly small, and i think the 3-prong setting makes them look bigger. i also like how they sit closer to the ear, because i wear them daily.

I have been reading some stuff on pricescope that scares me. They say that if you do ideal cuts it can still be badly cut? i don't understand all these dept and crown things. Bluenile doesn't give info on a crown i think,is it enough if i look for ideal cuts, excellent polish and symetry.

i am also considering the pre- set studs but the 'good' cut scares me
