I'm SO freaking glad that there was no such thing as social media and cell phone cameras back in the early 80's when I was clubbing every night. :drinks: :stars:
Honestly, I feel bad for people under 40 nowadays - their whole life laid bare for all to see, and yet they're the ones putting it out there, willingly, :whut:. DH, who has worked in computing all his working life, has always said that you should only be happy putting anything on the internet/email or any online communication that you'd be happy to submit to a local newspaper, otherwise just keep your counsel. Once information is out there, you've lost control of it. It's a very sad state of affairs nowadays that young people can't make a mistake without it being potentially blasted all over the internet. It's not right.

True, but they should take a step back and think, as your DH has said. A lot of things aren't mistakes, though, that's the sad situation. Social Media has made narcissists and attention-seekers out of probably a couple of generations. They have no sense of decorum of even common sense. It is very sad indeed yet, as you say, they are willingly and deliberately putting their behaviour on the internet. And there's always someone else, too, with a mobile to capture it and put it online anyway. No self-respect or dignity left.

Absolutely. Even before social media we had reality television, which showed that you don’t have to have a particular talent or ability to become a celebrity. Fame became attainable for anyone and attention feeds the narcissists.

update everyone

We’ll see if she goes through with it and that summer gig actually happens. Although I’m sure the ticket holders would’ve preferred going to Las Vegas in February when it was in the 60s as opposed to going in July when it’ll be around 107°.

Ever since her LA concert with Oprah I see her in such a different light. I can’t even get into her current album. I was fortunate to see her twice in concert. Way before she sold out arenas and had celebrity studded “intimate concerts.”
To me she went from being a singer - an excellent one - to being a singer and what? glamorous superstar? maybe she should take a look at Barbra Streisand and how she has behaved over the years. Yes, she did do some movies but she didn't alter her face significantly and didn't put her personal life out there. Of course she wasn't young in the age of the Internet.

She is a diva or prima donna, in the very worst sense of those words. Her ego is inflated far beyond her ability.

I was in Vegas in the summer one year for 24 hours years and it was so hot, OMG. I was glad when we got back to CA state.

I totally agree here (except I’ve never seen her in concert!) I was also not impeessed with her Graham Norton appearance. She seems to REALLY enjoy being a star right now. I don’t fault her for that - I’m sure some aspects of celebrity are fun. But she’s gotten very wrapped up in herself and it’s going to cost her some fans. The good news for her is some other stars have made those mistakes and bounced back (Jennifer Lawrence comes to mind). she can come back from this if she chooses to and listens to good Pr advice.

I'm so happy people are thinking along the same lines as me.

I've watched some of her more recent interviews and thought that if she didn't have such a fabulous voice, I wouldn't like her at all. Her personality is such a turn off.

Totally agree. I thought the same thing about her Graham Norton appearance. Her ego seems to have gone through the roof since she's moved to L.A., had her Hollywood make-over and started hanging out with celebs.
I found insulting that they had her sitting in the 'important' chair next to Graham and Helen Mirren sitting in the next chair! Uhmm Helen is queen bee, she should have been sitting in the top chair! :blah:
Adele seemed so full of herself on the GN show, constantly twirling that oversized diamond ring around on her finger and talking so damn loud. She was very overpowering and I didn't get the vibe that the other guests were enjoying her company much.
About that ring- I reckon it was either gifted or loaned to her for publicity and if not she bought it herself, but I reckon she was wearing it solely for attention, especially after all the rumor's of troubles in her relationship- as a childish and petty F*ck Y*u to people talking about her. @LibbyRuth Did you get the impression at the beginning of the GN appearance when they first started chatting and Graham oddly brought up the topic of the diamond ring she was wearing/ was she engaged/ what's the story etc. that it was very much scripted? Both him randomly asking the question and her odd answer to it? I got the instant impression that Graham was probably told by her 'people' to ask that question because it just seemed kind of out of character for him to ask that. It was like some point was trying to be made rather than a natural flow of questions & conversation.

Also, she needs to lay off the plastic surgery and very heavy makeup because it's aging her and making her really harsh looking.

Yes, I did get the feeling that Graham was either asked to mention the ring, or naturally did because her wearing it a few nights before had created such buzz. She undoubtedly wanted questions about it - and also wanted the opportunity to play coy with the answers. I also thought that Graham was ready to knock her in the head when he was talking to George Ezra and said something about artists not bothering with the details and she had to jump in and say she always knows the details. There's an art on that show if a singer is on the panel in the way that person handles things once the musical guest comes to join the panel. Normally they do a great job of complimenting the performance and letting the segment be about the musical guest. Adele totally failed at that - and I loved Graham's brush back to her telling her she didn't know when she'd be performing in Vegas.
