Fyi... I just got back from the outlet and they raised the price on everything at least 20 to $30. The small bennetts are now 179 and the large 199.
Oh, and she confirmed the large Bennet is crossgrain, not smooth like the accessories, not my cuppa tea. Also the advertising sign showed the red Snoopy outlined and colored white, she said they got lots of complaints about that. Key fobs sold out.
well, at least they are consistent about NOT saying it's calf leather
sheesh
I'm hoping that there are a lot of totes left and they go into a good clearance price.....then I'm gonna buy one, preferrably a red one and I'm gonna paint Snoopy white to look like the red tote on the FOS ad.
*I do not care that I may be 'mutilating' a Coach bag, so what.*
When I asked about the Bennetts yesterday, I was told CROSSGRAIN leather. When I pointed out the care card saying to use fabric cleaner, they said it was a mistake. However one of the managers came back to me 5 minutes later and apologized. She said the initial sheet they were given said CROSSGRAIN leather and then Coach sent out a correction sheet saying coated canvas. I can't blame the SAs because it doesn't look like the usual coated canvas. I really appreciated that the manager took the time to double check. We all had a good laugh about it.
The only consistent thing with this line is the inconsistencies.![]()
I'm tempted to do that with mine but am holding off for the inevitable return/rebuy when it gets close to $100 (I really think it will). I also wonder how well it would look on that material. The image is a mockup: a printed artwork Snoopy placed on a bag, not a legit bag. If it were real, wouldn't we all be seeing the grains/lines in the canvas? He's awfully smooth.

I've already been thinking about that. About ways to smooth the surface of Snoopy out. I'm quite the MacGyver when it comes to stuff like that. I don't know where I get it from, but I have 'invented' all sorts of stuff because of stupid school projects.![]()
Cross-calf-canvas.
Done
Good idea! What do you intend to use to paint it?
Same. Art classes will definitely develop *that* habit, lol! I was thinking maybe apply a layer of paint, then wipe gently so it just settles in the grooves, repeat a few times until it builds up. Leather paint should flex nicely.
Did you already pay for it?
apparently the snoopy items are hot sellers or so i've been told. They must be. This aint gonna help sales. Lololololol

You could use leather cement. It is a lot like Alene's glue. I've used fabric paint, acrylic craft paint, acrylic artist paint, RIT dye and Leather Refinisher on leather bags. I think I would use fabric paint, sometimes called fabric puff paint. It is flexible and I think you could get a smooth finish without having to prepare the surface beforehand. You could put a coat of acrylic varnish over the top to preserve it.Like stardustgirl said, leather paint or a paint that is made to be used on cloth. I don't know what it's called, but it should be flexible too. That's one thing neither of my kids ever had to do for a project, paint leather or cloth.
For filling in the grooves, I was thinking about glues. Not super glue type glues, but glues that would adhere to whateverthehell that bag is made of and are flexible after they dry. But just a build up of paint would probably be better since the grooves aren't that deep. I'll research the the hell out of the subject before I decide on anything....and that's IF I even end up with a bag.
