A new Coach Line called Snoopy?

I like the patches but it's so pricey. Does anyone know if they will be available in US?

Not sure... I've emailed my SA and will see what she knows.

Sounds REALLY expensive. I have to admit part of me was hoping for a proper new run lol.

Me too. And agreed on the price. I'm also wondering if any of us Peanuts collectors unknowingly sold patches to Coach, lol! I looked over the bags and thought "There's the Butternut Bread patch, there are some of the vintage Determined patches, there's Camp Snoopy, Oh gee that rainbow one isn't THAT old".

Saw some of the collection on the colette website, and feel it's dreadfully overpriced. $1K for a regular leather bag with vintage Peanuts patches slapped on there?

Very very overpriced. I'm not that familiar with the older Coach bags' values but from hearing others discuss them I know 4 digits is crazy. The patches have value but add nothing near that much to the bag. I think the Butternut one may be worth the most (due to age and scarcity) but I don't think even it would go for more than $15 - $20. Some of the patches look fairly new, not particularly "vintage".

I'll give them props for still playing with Peanuts, but I'd love to see a proper line in some Spring colors. And priced so I could actually buy one.

The ad copy says
"To mark the celebration of their upcoming 75th anniversary year, Coach, the famous American brand announces the exclusive launch of Coach Vintage at colette. The project sees the American design house revisiting its archives, sourcing rare and highly sought after original Coach vintage bags from the 1970’s and 1980’s. These bags have been collected from across the United States, authenticated and lovingly restored by Coach artisans and playfully customized with vintage Snoopy fabric patches. Each piece is unique.
To these bags are added, in limited edition, varsity jackets in wool and lambskin also customized with vintage Snoopy patches."

So basically they hit thrift stores across the US, did a rehab not unlike our handy Rehab and Rescue members, put some vintage Peanuts patches on them, and said "hmmmm $1000 ought to do it". And no two are alike? If I score an old Coach bag at a Goodwill, I'm good to go. I have a *lot* of vintage Peanuts patches (I recognized a number of them while looking at the bags on Colette).

I will give them a thumbs up for creativity. If Vevers is still pursuing that American Icon theme, he's got it here for sure, and with the genuine articles, not repros. That said, I wonder what distinguishes these from a DIY bag? Surely the creed must say something about it.
Actually they hit ebay mostly. There is a discussion about it in the vintage thread. The style of bag I sold isn't there so I wonder what they are going to do with it. In some odd way, it seems like it would be exciting to get my bag back, but not if I have to pay $1000 for it. These bags appear to have the original creeds. Maybe they will have added another label? There should be something to distinguish them as being produced by Coach for the anniversary collection. Otherwise, smart buyers will just do this themselves.

some vintage owners are already doing exactly that, for roughly 1/10th the cost. take a vintage duffle ($100) and add some patches ($10 each), if you can bear to desecrate it, and voila, a peanuts extravaganza!!!

I just popped into the vintage thread, wondering if there would be chatter about this. If Coach doesn't add a distinctive mark to these, it will be very strange. Isn't the whole point of being a brand, branding your wares so that people know they're yours? Sure, it's a Coach bag no matter what but that 4 digit price tag for the addition of maybe $25 worth of patches makes it a whole 'nother thing.

If these bags were on eBay or Etsy, people would point and laugh at the workmanship. I think the vintage owner DIYers are probably going to do it better.
