As some of you might remember from an earlier reveal, I was thrilled to find a gathered blush sophia at my outlet that was more pink in tone than peach--and in great condition. (I believe it was a store display as the price tag is attached to the inside zipper pocket?)

But as some of you may also remember, I was a tad -- just a tad -- disappointed that my bag had a wrinkle or what looked like a gather that wasn't sewn in all the way--so it puckered on the bottom right in one small area. While I 'm thinking the average Joe Schmoe wouldn't notice, you know how we Coachies are....I really wanted to find a fix for that pucker!

Here's the before pics of my beauty....Coming right up are a few pics of the "After" bag and what I did to fix her up (on a Saturday night, nonetheless....In my defense, the weather last night was CRUMMY....Mid 50s and rainy, so we stayed in.) I'm just posting thumbnail pics, instead of uploading to Photobucket, so just click on the thumbnails for larger pics....

Here's the after pics, though, after I gave my gathered beauty her wrinkle treatment!

Voila! No pucker and no visible gather that is "pooching out" anymore!

Oh, wow, what a difference! I never would have even noticed if you hadn't pointed it out, but I certainly understand how you felt about it.

Can't wait to see your fix.

For anyone who has a gathered leather bag, who might find this pucker problem happening to them, all's I did was completely empty out the bag and place the part of the bag with the pucker on my ironing board. I then used a white cotton undershirt, and put that on top of the leather. I proceeded to use an IRON on a setting of "4" -- on my iron, the "4" setting is for "Wool and Wool Blends." I tried gently applying the iron the first couple of times to the leather, and had some luck. I was also sweating like crazy as I worried the heat would harm the dye on the leather...but not at all! So I gave it a few more applications with the iron (the white cotton t shirt ALWAYS on top of the leather--I never applied the iron right on the leather!!!)...keeping the iron on the shirt/bag for about 6-8 seconds. Each time I removed the iron, and as the shirt cooled enough for me to do this next step, I pressed down on the puckered area with a lot of pressure using my thumb....Eventually, I noticed that I really did not need to try any more applications as I felt that this was "just enough" to eliminate the issue without pressing my luck and trying any more heat or pressure.

Anyways, I was sooo excited with the results. I actually took the "after" pics that I posted here, only this morning, as I really wanted to see if the "treatment" I used would hold. It did! So now I have my beautiful PINK-TONED bag in that TDF gathered leather I love so much, in tip-top shape--at outlet pricing!

So excited, and just had to share with the die-hard Coachies here on tpf who could relate to someone doing this on a rainy, cool June Sat. night?!

I tried to get a few close-ups, too, of the area that was puckered ... This is "After" the t-shirt/iron treatment ..... Hope these are clear enough?

And here is a close up of what it looked like as I was treating it...this was "before" I decided to use a tad longer heat with the iron and applying pressure with my thumb when the shirt cooled enough for me to touch it....

That's wonderful! I was wondering how Coach did the pleats, and if they were actually pressed in. I have a gray gathered and some of the gathers on the bottom are a little loose, so I may try this when they start to bother me enough. I'm glad it worked out so well for you! Thanks for sharing.

BTW, I love your blush gathered Sophia, and now I'm kicking myself for not getting one at the outlet when they were available. Not that I ever saw one there, but I could have tried to hunt one down somewhere.

That was a smart fix! BEAUTIFUL bag btw:okay:

Oh, I can't wait to hear about this fix!

Congrats on the gorgeous new bag-- can't believe you found that beauty at the outlet!

Thanks! I was very excited to get her at the outlet, indeed, again esp because she wasn't the real "peachy" toned one I got during PCE in December....I like this one far more than the one I returned at FP!

I'm very interested to hear how you did this. I just received a midnight gathered carryall and there are several gathers that are undone.

Sure, just keep reading and G/L with your bag! Did you reveal her? I'll have to see!!!

great job!!

Wow, Congrats! Looks great!! :D

Thanks, ladies!!!
