I sent mine back and then realised I did actually like it (this often happens when I return something I'm unsure about - once it goes I then realise if I do or don't want it back). Then I got an email from net a porter telling me if I spend $700+ I get a $200 gift voucher so I ordered it again.
The fact it's matt doesn't bother me. Looking at my other bags and shoes etc none of them have the shiny look that's been posted apart from a couple of bags that are meant to be. I was more concerned by the quality which is unknown at this stage. But the leather on mine was thick and lovely so I decided it was for me .
On the bag I had there was a minor mark on it which I'm sure can be cleaned but they offered me a discount because if it and they've said they will still honour that once I receive it back if I decide to keep it and I will still be able to get the credit voucher even with the discount so I'm pretty happy given the discount and voucher means the bag only cost me approx USD $440 in the end (this is for a large calf bucket).

i think you're taking the word "shiny" too literally
if you've seen it in real life you'd notice the mellow, rich leather shine, NOT a patent shine but more like a "glow". Anyway, to each her own!
lol, thanks Frankiextah. It's harder to seed the difference since the colors are not the same, but hope you guys get an idea of the different leather qualities!
Has anyone had any luck with the smell fading? Mine never had a smell (or maybe my nose just isn't as sensitive), but I'm curious if it continued to linger for people, or went away.
It is much less strong on my bag after conditioning and carrying for a week. It still has a smell but not a bad smell now. My colleague even commented that it "smells nice".
I have had my bag since mid July. A Peony Crossbody. The smell on arrival was very strong but has faded significantly and I only notice it now if I put it very close to me. I wrote to Colette and they just replied. They say no other complaints have been received but I have the choice of replacing or refund.
I'm not buying it either!
I'm 99% sure that's what they've told other members on this forum as well. Who are they kidding? I mean, I don't find the smell strong of offensive, but to pretend it's not there is insulting.
