Hi Coach lovers! I was hoping you could help me and this seemed like the right thread to post because even if you don't have any advice for me, at least you can enjoy the picture in the correct thread. I have this bag from long ago, it was a press piece from the pink poppy line in 2004. I just came across it in my attic and thought it would be perfect for my daughter who is 11. I generally don't want to let her carry expensive bags, she's just a kid. But this one is so cute and it's pink, her favorite color.

My question for all of you as the coach "experts" is, would this be a mistake? Is this a desirable Coach piece that a kid shouldn't play with or use? Or was it a flash in the pan with no current value?
I appreciate all of your knowledge :flowers:

Oh, this bag is so cute!! I don't remember ever seeing it! My first instinct isn't to give an expensive bag (current value aside) to a child, but some children are better with valuables than some grownups are! If she likes it, why not let her carry it on special ocassions :)

I think that it might have more value because it is unique. There are two similar bags listed on Ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brown-Suede...132?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item1e69ad16d4
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Limited-Edi...321?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item2c61b70101
Most Coach bags have some kind of value - I think this has more value than a lot of others.

I've mentioned this before (someone's gonna tell the needle to skip the groove if I keep repeating it), but my holy grail is a Bleecker 9306. I've never had a bag so comfortable--the strap is amazing. I also like that there is little hardware on it. There's a red one on Ebay now, but I'm holding out for a dark brown or black. New Coach be damned!!
YES! I know this is an old post but I have to second the glories of the Bleecker 9306. I recently acquired a pre-loved one in black: 19 years old, minimal wear, and it really fulfills all my tote needs so far. It is sooooo roomy and I also love that it has hardly any hardware, just the zipper/pull tabs really. Only minus is that it is so amazing, my other favorite bags won't get used as much :D

Lol I am sipping coffee and next to me are a few rehabs in progress. And one is a black Bleeker 9306, lol. Though mine has lots of wear (recent online purchase) and want to touch it up. Preach it my friend. I bought a navy Bleecker basket tote 9302 around 2006, like new , from a consignment shop and it sealed my love for what is now, vintage Coach. I love the contrast stitching of the 930x family. Even ran into a woman on an elevator at work with a 9306.
Just so you know, we chat about bags in the the vicinity of 20 years or older too at the Vintage thread in the Club House subforum too.

Yes def need to hang out on that thread. In addition to my tote I have 20 year old brown Patricia's Legacy and my gateway drug was an almost-vintage age Janice's Legacy. I received one of the newer coated canvas bags at Christmas (an outlet model) and while I think the Tea Rose bags are cute I simply cannot get excited by modern Coach. I passed by a boutique the other week and didn't even go in. Just looked through the glass and thought meh! The older bags may not be showy but they have substance!

Believe it or not , a few of the more current pieces have grown on me, but not at the prices. I got a deal on a an Ace from 2016 recently. There are a few Rogues in yellow/ flax I keep an eye out for on eBay. I thought the leather sequined Rogue and color block Double Swagger were amazing, but even at half price at the holidays, I’m not in the place mentally to spend that much. And I’m not sure which size would work best for me. And my preference in general for bags and totes is to recycle/upcycle.
See ya round!

Exactly!!!! Almost all my bags are old Dooneys and Coaches I have got thrifting and online. I love leather but I am trying to be more environmentally conscious and animal-friendly and get such things secondhand. Plus I love the thrill of the hunt and learning about the bags so I can avoid buying fakes (so far, so good knock wood!). The colorblock swaggers are cute but I doubt I would carry such a bag much. My more structured bags, while I love them, don't see the outside of the dust bag too often. I tend to like more floppy shapes like hobos and buckets.

I was obsessed with the 2006 Legacy line. I had a white Mandy shoulder bag, which was my holy grail bag for the longest time. I eventually sold it. I wanted a black Lily but could never find one that wasn’t ridiculously overpriced.

The Julianne and Sabrina bags were also amazing! I had both.

Since then, the quality has just not been the same. Is it just me or has Coach’s quality gone down but their prices have gone way up? I can’t justify it anymore, even with PCE.

No it’s not just you. I got into Coach about 4-5 years ago when the nomad was released. Both the nomad and ace satchels were fully lined in glovetanned leather, amazing quality for $500 retail. Compare that to the quilted Parkers also priced at $500 that are nowhere near the quality of the nomads. So even with PCE you are still paying $300+ for a non-1941 bag that isn’t leather lined.

I, like A LOT of other's here, LOVE the '06 & '07 legacy lines. I also love the bleecker bags from that time period. I really liked the older hamptons line. I really miss my Hampton's carryall
It's really funny because, I remember the day I bought this carryall. I was at Von Maur and it was going to be the first time I'd ever purchased anything Coach brand new from the store ( all my other Coach items had come from consignment or ebay ). I looked around that store forever and I remember seeing the Bleecker Duffle's hanging on the sale rack and I did NOT like them at all. I didn't like the big round bottom of them, something about the shape of them, didn't sit right with me at the time. I ended up buying this Carryall and after over a year or so, started really liking those darn bleecker duffles. I ended up buying my Medium Bleecker duffle from a seller on ebay and it has quickly become one of my all time favorite Coach bags.
It's amazing how I went from not liking Anything about that bag to it being one of my favs!

Signature bag is the Hamtons carryall that I bought that day. I recently sold that bag and highly regret it.
I also attached a pic of my Bleecker duffle.
So pretty! I love the Tattersall linings! A Tattersall-lined bag is on my pre-loved wishlist but it is very hard to find one that has been kept clean. Just lovely!

I just wanted to give a little shout out to an older Coach I recently shopped from my closet. It is nothing fancy: basically an MFF made for discount retailers like TJ Maxx, which is where I bought it about... Erm, 10 years ago? All I can say is it has been a loyal friend and held up! The only wear on it really is some slight bottom corner lightening (which I just conditioned). The bag does have feet but the slouchy corners still rub against things. I believe it was called the Pebbled Penelope Satchel... anyway I love it! And I always thought the deep fuschia lining was cool. I won't carry it for ages, I forget about it, then I rediscover it and remember how well it has served me and carry it again. That's the best, those old staples in our closets we keep coming back to. And I really like the softer more matte pebbled leathers Coach has done over the years. Another favorite line of mine are the older Chelsea Pebbled Hobos --early to mid 2000s I think?

I have the same hippy as you in black and in white - I love the leather and the look but have not carried it lately - I also have lots of Legacy sitting in my closed - Leighs in 4 colors, other styles that I forget the names of
in camel and black and on and on - now I have to dig them out.

In honor of 1NutMeg's new Hippie, I'll post a photo of my own. I can't get enough of Legacy leather, particularly black Legacy leather.

A few more photos of my hippie. This one is a pilot bag.

Other than Zoe, the Coach style that just fits me best is the 65th Anniversary Legacy Ali. I love the leather. I love the size. I love the strap. I love the medallion. I love the giant turnlock. I love the style. I saw photos of the white on Hayden Pantierre (probably misspelled her name), and I knew I needed one. Well, after I got one, it turns out, I really needed THREE.

More photos of her are here.

Oh, and here is a sneak peak of my Hamptons Leather Buckle Hobo. This is such a simple bag, but it's so pretty.

There are more photos of this bag here.

There are some other older styles in my collection along with some great key fobs like the Penelope Calla Lily and the Conversation Hearts. You can see everything here.

Yes! I agree. The older bags may not be showy but they have substance. That's what I was thinking last week, after I bought another (almost) vintage bag. I do like a lot of the more modern ones (including the really fancy ones), but there's just something about the vintage ones, even if they are really plain.

One thing I really like is the piping, especially on the straps and handles. It's so much better than edge-coating.
