Speaking of oldies but goodies, I had to bust out my Chelsea laced hobo tonight since fall is a comin' and the weather is strating to chill a little. I jazzed her UP with one of those brass chains that has the horse & carriage, round lozenge and hangtag on it from a few fall's ago's Hamptons collection.

I can't believe I didn't realize that this thread existed until it got bumped. Thanks for doing that!

I had never bought a Coach bag until 1998 when I got my beloved black station bag (which I still have and use). Fun fact: Costco in VA that same year had a Kirkland branded knockoff version of the station bag that is nearly identical (but a real Coachie will know it's not Coach). Yes, I bought it in British Tan and I do carry it now and again.

I remember drooling over the Gramercy and Madison lines when they premiered, but could not afford them, as they were priced a good $200 or more OVER the average Coach bag price at that time. But thanks to the Saks outlet and eBay, I was able to get the black Gramercy "kelly" bag, a black Gramercy zip satchel and a brown Madison "kelly" bag. Those were such beautifully constructed bags, made in Italy of textured Italian leather and the Gramercy bags were lined with sueded pigskin. *sigh*

I'm also a major collector of anniversary Legacy (i.e. pre-Garcia) bags, some of which were FP and others from the outlets. I bought the whiskey Ali right out of the Tysons Galleria window display on the day it was released. I walked into the Fair Oaks VA Coach one afternoon just to kill time and walked out with the black double pocket shoulder bag 15 minutes later (I still love to grope the leather on that one).

I snagged the whiskey Gigi at an unbelievably low price when someone had returned it to the Hagerstown outlet even though they were still going for fp in the boutiques. When I got it home, I noticed that the turnlocks were spinning, which is probably why it got returned, but the SAs obviously didn't notice that since it was not final sale (which meant I was able to send it to Coach and get it fixed for free. Woot!). In the next few years, I was able to snag the black Bridgit (original thick fabulous Legacy leather) at the Leesburg outlet and the holy grail purple Leigh on eBay. The last one I bought was the white hippie Ali a few years ago when they had a pile of them for no known reason in Leesburg.

Do I need all these bags? Hell, no. Am I sorry I bought them all? Again, hell no. You are my people and it is good to be among you. :)

You said it all, my friend! You said it all!

True that!!!!!:D

I recently tried to get more organized w/ my collection and bought a bunch of fabric (NOT PLASTIC!!) storage boxes to store my purses that I didn't have the Coach Boxes for (ie. outlet finds). So as I was moving purses to the new storage boxes from shopping bags, I came across all my neglected Legacy bags (Leighs, two-pocket shoulder bags, Mandy, Gigis).....I don't know why I stopped carrying them, they are really timeless.

I think I just get stuck in a rut and use about 4 bags in rotation (using different colors to go w/ my work clothes) for a period without looking to use lesser used bags. Part of that was due to the fact that my bags were spread out in three different closets, so it made it difficult to find what I was looking for. Hopefully now that I have everything more organized in boxes (marked for easy identificatin), I'll get to give these older beauties a chance to show off!

Putting my bags in storage boxes is something I should definitely do. I also have mine in shopping bags and they are taking up so much space. Great tip:D

Hi Coach lovers! I was hoping you could help me and this seemed like the right thread to post because even if you don't have any advice for me, at least you can enjoy the picture in the correct thread. I have this bag from long ago, it was a press piece from the pink poppy line in 2004. I just came across it in my attic and thought it would be perfect for my daughter who is 11. I generally don't want to let her carry expensive bags, she's just a kid. But this one is so cute and it's pink, her favorite color.

My question for all of you as the coach "experts" is, would this be a mistake? Is this a desirable Coach piece that a kid shouldn't play with or use? Or was it a flash in the pan with no current value?
I appreciate all of your knowledge :flowers:

I only have one coach bag and its the one in my display pic. I really really really really want a station bag though but not sure they are large enough. I want one that is about twice the size of the bag I currently have (I think it was called a convertible clutch in the authenticate thread)...and I'm not familiar with a lot of coach names so I just search ebay every now and then and try to win some of the old bags for cheap LOL!

I'm guessing the station bag isn't as big as you are wanting, it seems that most of the older classic bags were more medium sized, and not the gargantuan size bags that they are selling these days. But you just can't beat the quality or the feel of the older, classic bags with the thick, luxurious leather...they just don't make them like they used to!

When I first got into Coach it was the early 90's when the bags were made of the thick leather with no linings in them and sometimes I think they have lost sight of that a little because that's how they started out, the idea came from a well loved baseball glove. I have a few accessories left but no bags. My mom still has and uses everyday my first ever backpack, its the medium one and its black. That thing is like a Timex and believe me she is not easy on bags at all. The three accessories that I have and use everyday is a black wallet, all leather, a coin purse that is also black, all leather and a small backpack which can be also used as a coin purse/purse charm also black and all leather. I will have to take pictures of these items and post them. When I think of Coach I think of that thick leather and it takes me back. Love those bags.

yeah I don't want huge huge but the bag I have I can fit my phone in it (blackberry sized) and then there isn't much left over room lol so I am trying to find something that I can put at least my phone and a wallet in. I only like the older style bags the new ones don't really appeal to me except for the floral sophia but its too far out of my price range to even consider...so I shall stick with older bags and ebay :)

My sentiments exactly!

I, too, got into Coach in the mid-90's when the bags were still made of unlined full grain leather and the designs were understated, timeless and devoid of flashy trims and logos. That, to me, is the quintessential Coach look.

My first Coach was a black court bag (9870) but the range I really love is the Legacy range, namely, Patricia's Legacy, Legacy Zip, Janice's Legacy Bag and Rambler's Legacy. I even had a friend buy me the Patricia Legacy bag when she visited her sister in the US as the Coach store in Singapore did not have stock of the black one.

By the way, does anyone remember the TV series, "Murder She Wrote"? I used to get a buzz whenever I saw Angela Lansbury's character, Jesssica Fletcher, carrying her classic Coach bags.

Thanks to all those who've contributed to this thread. It's so nice to be brought back in time. ;)

PS: Here's my favorite, well-used Coach accessory - a coin purse/keychain:

I don't want to start a new thread LOL since I a shy reveal-er and don't often post in Coach so I'm bumping this cool old thread...I'm recently on a Coach binge and I finally scored my Coach HG Legacy Mandy in Black...I'm normally in the Hayden Harnett SF but I honestly have more Coach bags than HH and more HH clothing now...anyway. Enough about me, Here's Mandy (with an HH scarf)!

She is in excellent condition but missing the legacy medallion, (she just has a black hangtag) but I'll stalk ebay til I get one. :)

Love this bag! I dream of getting it one of these days. It looks great on you, too!

I am new to tPf, and living in Australia and mainly collecting Coach from Ebay, most of mine are older styles. I am amazed that 5 or 6 year old Coach bags can look like new. The quality is great
