Love your thought process and the serendipity of finding the gold GP too! I think I commented on your beautiful GP in another thread. from the way you describe your wardrobe, the gold GP will act as a fabulous fresh pop of color against your neutral cool palette for clothing  (I tend to think of gold color this way too) So excited for you!

tailoring Changes make all the difference
Thanks! I can't wait to finally have it back again!

This season I added a small silk scarf, a brown leather tote bag (only had one in black so far), and a white & blue cotton crochet sweater, all second-hand. The scarf and bag are Hermès, and I really took my time with researching this time. I have one black crossbody bag (a wardrobe staple), which is really old and slowly comes apart. I want to find a good quality replacement, so this is the next thing on my list.
I also only have one black crossbody bag. It’s from APC. But could have been another brand. I like small structured bags!!

This is a really great concept! I think this is something I'd like to try. I've had some lockdown weight gain so I've had to get some new basics, so this is a good idea for going forward!

What I'm finding challenging is defining my style. I like a preppy J Crew kind of look and I love the Anine Bing look. Can I merge the two? Do I save AB t shirts and sweats to a gym/lounge time and dress J Crew to day time stuff? I don't know! Any ideas, ladies?

It seems like you already found your style :) J Crew is classic preppy but anine bing will just add a bit of an edge to the look.
It’s overall quite minimalist let’s say you take classic straight leg jeans, with a preppy polo shirt and put on a boyfriend oversize blazer and perls earrings. I see it 100%.

I like that! Thank you so much! Preppy with and edge. Edgy with prep...Edgy classic?...leather leggings with Anine Bing sweatshirt with loafers and pearls!
So I went through my whole (hanging closet) and tried everything on and got rid of things (they will go to ThredUp) that didn't feel good and put away things (my "after 10 pounds") that I still want to keep. So right now everything hanging feels 100%. I'm going to sort through my shoes and accessories and t shirts next. I'll keep you updated! Sharing this here is really motivating.

Now I went through my t shirts. Since I have more room in the closet, I hung up the AB t shirts and my patterned Current Elliot t shirts. I've come to appreciate that for whatever reason, I really prefer dark colored tops. And I love nice t shirts! I have lots of beautiful silk shirts but I don't tend to wear them-- too dressed up. But I like the idea of the edgier/casual stuff to dress them down. Maybe the long sweaters I have. I'm just going to wash them in the gentle cycle and hang to dry.
And as I packed away some of the "in 10 lbs" clothes, I said to myself that I'm lovingly gifting my future self with a cool curated wardrobe for her great accomplishment of losing the extra weight. That made me feel good and motivated rather than guilty and annoyed with myself for gaining weight.
I realized that I don't have dark jeans in a size that fits me, but I have dressy black/casual black/ faux leather black leggings, (plus plenty of workout leggings) so I'm going to challenge myself with that.
The colors I gravitate to are black, browns (cognac and that greige brown of Gucci Supreme), burgundy and denim. I own pops of cream, yellow and pink, and emerald green (mostly in my dresses and a few shoes and purses). Interestingly, the scarves I own are mostly in in the basics colors.
Is this too many colors? I feel like the other colors tend to be too somber for some of the social activities that I have. Anyway, since I'm making the rules and they make me happy to see hanging so nicely in my closet, they get to stay!
There is something about the 5PFW that is freeing for me. It seems less restrictive than no buy/30 items.
I've realized that I have basics and pops, but I need to work on a styling basic uniform adding the shoes.
The shoes are on my cull list next...

Yes, exactly, you are making the rules and the colors need to be right for you! You often read that for a capsule /minimalist wardrobe you need white t-shirts, black pants, a black leather jacket and so on. Turns out I nearly never enjoy wearing black or white (I have one white and one black summer dress each, and then some funeral clothes, hoping I don't really need them), and donated / sold all other black and white clothing and I never regretted it. For me pastel pink is more of a neutral than white
Tomorrow I'm going to take some time and switch over my wardrobe from summer to fall (I have not much space and need to put off-season clothes into storage), summer is definitely over by now.

Actually Justine Leconte just posted a video on her YouTube channel about that subject...how to not have a boring 5 pieces French wardrobe :) I always like her insights.
Because to be honest mine has turned all black and white.
And for summer it was neutrals of cream and brownish :P

I hear you.
Funnily enough I had a pale pink silk oversized collar shirt that I loved and ended up wearing to death for years....the SA had told me I’d make good use of that one and she was right.

My color palette is a lot like yours actually.

My neutrals are historically black and various shades of grey. I recently added millennial pink to the neutrals. I for colors I have pink (dark fuchsia and occasionally hot pink). And burgundy, which I think of as a neutral.

This year I decided to replace my cobalt blue with yellow, mostly mustard, but I am also open to chartreuse. And I have been trying to make camel a thing in my wardrobe for a while, so I am dipping my toes in. And I like warm olive/taupe. This is feeling like my new neutral.

P.S. seems like you need a silk t-shirt! :P

I bet our closets do look similar! I do have some olive and camel which are neutrals for me. I'll take using burgundy as a neutral! I think millenial pink is a neutral, in the vein of camel...it's kind of a nude color.

Silk t shirts...the closest I have to that are some Joie v-necks which I do tend to wear a lot in black and navy.

I love love love cobalt blue, but I find other than a clic H bracelet I wore, I never wore it or carried my cobalt J crew mini purse. My daughter loves yellow and wears it a lot so I think that's why it's crept into my closet.

This thread is very inspiring!
