3 notches on Jumbo GHW???

Hi everyone!!

While I own a few Chanels, I'm not the most savvy with all the details. My black jumbo caviar flap with GHW has 3 lines/notches engraved on the top left of the CC lock closure. Does this mean anything?? Does it signify year? Or is it an authenticity thing?

I'm pretty sure I've seen other with the 3 notches, but on a different spot of the CC's.

That's the hallmark signifing the 22 carot gold plating. Is this Jumbo new? Was in made in France or italy? We been having a ongoing disussion on the forum over the missing hallmarks on new made in France classics.

Mine is Made in Italy! I'm actually trying to figure out how "new" mine is, as I'm the 2nd owner. I just bought it very recently from a resale shop, but I have NO idea how to figure out what year it's from....

How recently did they start putting the 3 lines on the hardware?? Is it a very recent thing?

No, they always put the hallmarks on the gold. It's recently that some new shippments of made in france do not have it. You can tell what year it's from by the serial number.

Thanks so much for your answers! I kept searching the forum, but wasn't using the right search terms!

My serial number starts with 116----, so it's from 2006-2008. Is there any further way to narrow down which actual year within those that it was issued?
