Me Toooooo!!

Congratulations on your stats - a ton out of the house is amazing!
But - boooooooo - to your plumbing woes! I’m so glad your neighbor was able to help - finding plumber quick (which is when you always need them - like right now) is virtually impossible!

I know his business was putting in commercial kitchens like at hotels and restaurants, but I didn't know he was a trained plumber. He is also a friend of DH and knows what is going on atm. He let me pay just materials (including the trade discount at the store). I am going to have to send a nice card and flowers to him and his wife.

March stats… Not so good…

Purses in or out - 2 in, 0 out. I have been feeling the need for a medium sized navy purse. I sold the Dalvy (which was too small and was really for my Imaginary Life), and the Dior BeDior is at the other house, meaning I only had the Picotin here with me - and it is a smallish bag though it does hold quite a bit. So I searched for a month and finally decided on a Fendi 2Jours - lovely smooth dark blue leather with a darling pink interior.

I had several bags in mind though and one was a very cute Tory Burch - a drawstring tote (which I’ve never had so we’ll see that it goes) with burgundy trim and marvelous smooth leather - so I bought it too.

Scarves in or out - 1 in, 1 out - the in is an HG moussie - an Ecume and zomg - it is worth the 7 year search.

I wore 7 bags last month - most worn was the black Dior Lady.

Finished 2 books - An Academy for Liars and The Housemaid; currently reading The God of the Woods, and Did Ye Hear Mammy Died.

No donations, no major home repairs. The furniture we purchased in January for the office arrived, and it is very nice - OH and our blinds/shutters finally came so we have NATURAL LIGHT in the bedrooms! That sunlight (even on a gray day) makes me feel so much better!

Congratulations on seeing daylight, your new bags and you HG moussie, the Fendi looks beautiful, the colour is stunning, and I am sure the 7 years search was worth it.

Well done on your reading. I am merely 'observing' in my Book Club these days. They'll probably ban me soon.

I am trying to read more, instead of just watching TV or poking around on my iPad - but I have to confess that much of my ‘reading’ is done with Audible in the car.
Don’t feel bad about your Book Club - they’ll be there when you’re ready to read again. I quit mine several years ago because I didn’t like half of the books they were reading … it’s kinda liberating!

March Stats

March has been overshadowed by the sudden decline in my Mother’s health-I was there yesterday, the doctor has said that she could go at any time..my Dad said he is just waiting for it to happen.

Apart from that, I have succeeded in keeping my clothing ban.

Clothing-6 out, 0 in YTD -15 out, 0 in.

It ends with a day trip for my birthday , originally planned mid April(my birthday is the 19th), rearranged for the 2nd, unless the worst happens, just to give me a break to prepare me to face my worst nightmare , plus the hysteroscopy I’m waiting for an appointment for.

Bags-0 in, 0 out.

SLG-0 in, 0 out.

Jewellery -0 in, 0 out.

I don’t know how I’ll get through April…

:hugs:

I read for an hour every night right before bed. I turn off the TV early. DH goes to bed before me so I have a nice quiet time to immerse myself in a book.

I typically go to bed before Mr Cookie, and if I am still feeling up to reading that late -
I read a little bit of poetry. Nothing soothes my mind like poetry - and the good thing about it is that you can read one poem several times and get something different from it each time. I’m currently making my way through Bright Wings - an Illustrated Anthology of Poems About Birds, edited by Billy Collins who was the US Poet Laureate from 2001 to 2003.
I somehow managed to delete your post - but I also love that white purse with the darling blue trim!

I'm so sorry about your plumbing disaster! It sounds horrible! We are very familiar with our plumber. It seems that every time we go on vacation, we come home to some plumbing problem!

It always surprises me that in the UK the washer is in the kitchen. Do you have a dryer? I hope fixing the flooring is easy.

Marc end of month stats

Bags In: 0
Bags Out: 2 (but more are poised to go)
Accessories in: 0 (I think)
Accessories out: 2 no-name scarves
Jewellery in: 0 - but I found '70s Uno Aerre vintage graduated belcher chain (when they made proper jewellery) and a Gucci bangle set from 2000.
Jewellery out: 4 costume 'bits' + 2 vintage jewellery music boxes (One oak, another embroidered velvet)
Household in: Lots; Velvet bedspread, plumbing stuff (see below) 2 vases (1 vase for friend so it's going out Easter) 1 coir mat for my cat and a useless watering can.
Household out TON! A few books, duvet and old bed linen. I will have to get a new duvet though.

Major kitchen sink drama all week. My washing machine backed-up water-waste pipes and so I had a flood.

Thankfully pipes sorted yesterday with the help of my wonderful neighbour. I still have to address my kitchen flooring which has stained with dirty water
OMG! I’m so sorry that happened but am glad you have a lovely neighbor. Sending you hugs as you sort your kitchen floor.
Funny you should ask:
I was artistic It paid better than working for a living too
I am a scholar, the pay is not great, but you can't have everything.
I am more 'posthumanist' than humanist (which what I'm writing about now).

The article I had published was on the cult tailor Mark Powell and his work/times in London Soho. It's his 40 year anniversary this year.
The article I'm working on currently is about the origins of the posthuman in art and the relationship between the creator (artist) and the created (art). I'm using a German, Weimar-era, Bauhaus artist to make my point. The deadline is in August, but I have another on a similar subject to do as well but on a British music artist.
I am delighted to have such a fabulous friend as you!

That Fendi looks like a great daily bag!

This is why I can never stay long in a book club. Far too often they want to read books I would psychologically or intellectually choke on. :yucky:
I read for an hour every night right before bed. I turn off the TV early. DH goes to bed before me so I have a nice quiet time to immerse myself in a book.
I read in the evenings as well (Mr. Sparkle isn’t a big reader) but far too often end up reading for longer than my allotted time. I read til 6:37am one day last week! I was as dead as a corpse the whole next day but I love getting lost in a book!

Yes, it's free!

You are amazing and so talented! I thoroughly enjoyed your take on a fascinating place and artist!

Congratulations ❤️❤️❤️❤️-it’s a fantasticabulous article!

You should be SO proud of yourself!

Thank you

I don't have a dryer! I dry on a clothes horse outside, my bedding and cottons dry in the lavender garden. My house is from the Edwardian era but my parents didn't have a dryer either (a younger house) it's not so usual in Europe. In Scotland it's better to have a dryer that's for sure.

I have a freezer (DH grew lots of fruit and veg) but no fridge (the cat has his own fridge :catlick:). I have vegetable and fruit shelves and I have a larder for cheese etc. I use leftovers in cooking, I have a composter, I have almost 0 food waste.
