I don't know if I'm in a not interested in buying mindset. But I'm hitting my pet peeve of keeping things that I almost never wear mindset lol.
Mainly for bags and shoes. I get annoyed each year at these items every season that I either don't wear at all or maybe wear 1-2 times. I know it's not a great time to sell, but my urge of purging them may be stronger than keeping them lol.

I have never had sellers regret and I know when I've mentally/emotionally let go of things, usually long before they're finally sold.

I may just be saying goodbye to some things this month. 🤔
I’m similar, but cannot keep clothing/RTW which I’m not going to wear again.
This week I cleared my closet as the pieces I didn’t want were burning a hole, some were saleable, although I just donated everything as I can’t be bothered with the hassle of selling.

Like you, I can’t stand the idea of selling. 10 years ago or more, selling used to be easier and more fun. Now there are too many scammers and too much competition. So I’ll likely die with what I have. I still have 3 bags on consignment at Ann’s Fabulous Finds that have been there for months. If they can’t sell them, I know I would have no luck doing so.

Also, like you, I would like to trade a couple of my C jumbos for mediums or something smaller. But, as I said. I’m not up to selling so I’ll be grateful I have them and start wearing them more often.

Can you have some of the well loved pieces tailored?

My collection has been relatively stable for about 8-9 years. So I don’t think this is part of that collect / rest cycle.

My health issues gave me (unwanted) time to think about a lot of things and I’m simply far less into acquiring anything than I was before. Add to that my realization that my effusive zeal for acquiring bags just isn’t sustained in the owning and my energy to buy is at zero. I don’t want to chase or give into that high just to have it fade away.

I have been purging all year. And every time I think I’m done, scales fall from my eyes and I “see” more things that need to go. I’m sure knowing this is wasted money is also contributing to my disinterest in bag buying.

I see other people look stylish in over the knee boots and feel I just look like an awkward pirate. And I can’t do slouchy boots because I think they make my legs look stocky.

So for me it’s ankle boots or knee high boots.
Once I’ve decided something has to go, I won’t wear it again!

New with the old today. Quiet luxury and high stree in monotone Also wearing tan leather clogs and Hermès classic equestrian carre.

Wearing my Small BV navy Roma and H Evie) with my new navy trousers and older silk knit polo-shirt plus 1970s necklace watch (and wood and python bangles - which is why I can't wear a wristwatch). Colour(s) look more unified IRL.

I remember bata stores from the 80s! The shoes and bag are amazing and I would love to see how you style them.
Honestly I still have no idea how to style them. I had new heel rubber put onto the shoes and conditioned the leather just to put this beautiful treasure onto my shelf... Now waiting for an idea or the courage to simply use both pieces together with jeans and a simple t- shirt.

These are super. I am just imagining these with a little black shift dress

Wear them in good health
Thank you! Black shift dress will certainly work! ( Somewhere in the depths of my wardrobe there even should be one or two from the right time- plus several more recent ones. )
The question only is which will fit.. I seem to have gained some weight since I came here and tried on everything I own. Last week I tearfully made my Y2K Diesel jeans bigger.

Thank you for the suggestions. The clothing section is very neat by color but has no room to reverse a hanger it is a tight squeeze. I have those thin fuzzy hangers and it is not a huge closet. I don't have an extra bar, but I could put each item on the other end of it's color. Thank you! The thought of trying them all on when I am at my chunkiest does not appeal. The purse section has some nice empty spaces. The clothing drawers and closet are so tight it makes me uncomfortable.
When I came back here with an already very drastically culled amount of clothes I did the "try each and every piece on" because the new wardrobe that looked unbelievably huge proved to be already too small. Everything that didn't fit me at this moment was simply boxed up to go into the attic. I certainly gained weight since then but am dodging another try on all session. It might be fairly disheartening... So every time I come by a piece I love and find it too small I have a good cry and make it bigger. If I find anything that doesn't speak to me at all anymore ( mostly " modern " pieces, hand me downs from my daughters) they will very unceremonously donated to the charity shop. ( Making room for much nicer finds from there.)

Sorry I've been AWOL. Crazy days have turned into crazy weeks

Cleared some shoes and boots out yesterday.

Kept these below, even though they are probably a tad snug, but that's because I haven't worn them.

They are called Mobius by United Nude. It looks like 3, but there are only 2 pairs of shoes, the mules also convert to boots.

I do that too. I need a long time to think about things.

I actually feel uncomfortable buying too much in one go. In May, I bought quite a few silk scarves all at one time, the first time I had a what could be termed as a 'haul' in quick succession. An Hermes giant triangle cashmere was followed by quite a few vintage Gucci/Cartier scarves and a very vintage Hermes silk twillaine top. I don't regret any purchases but I remember feeling down after rather than elated. It's not just luxury either, even a few too many new drugstore makeup products all at once can give me the opposite effect of 'retail therapy'.

Anyone else actively dislike buying more than one bag or 'thing' at a time?
Actually I tend to hate myself for binge shopping/ retail therapy ( happened a few times during the last few weeks because I was feeling fat and low and the charity shop had a sale) but once home I usually am very happy with my loot, because the ideas of what to do with the pieces start flowing or something random suddenly turns out to be the missing puzzle piece that turns other random purchases into a look. All the randomness seems to have a concept- one I rarely am aware of the moment I buy it, but it is there.

Sorry, it’s a bit off topic..

Yesterday I had the privilege of sharing my parents’ 61st wedding anniversary with them.

Considering my Mother’s health this year, it was nothing short of a miracle that she achieved this milestone.

My sister and brother-in-law, nephew, and dear niece were also there.

I managed to spend time with my Niece, and showered her with gifts, both for birthday and graduation.
She looked very well and embraced me, loved all of the presents, especially the Skims clothing and jewellery.
She wanted to know all about my boyfriend!

After yet more vacations she is off to Vienna in October, but home for Christmas, when I’ll spoil her again.
I’m hoping to live until 125, but she is my eventual heir, so I pass jewellery to her, which she loves.

I fed my Mum chocolate mousse, she kissed me-everything went very well, and my boyfriend sent a very expensive bottle of red wine, which pleased my Dad immensely.
Their last anniversary ..
Congratulations to your parents ❤️

These are the kind of colours, shapes, textures and style. Just more lived-in and thrown-on. Think less glam/holiday/sexy and more everyday, daytime ease (like the Celine look with jeans or shorts - WITH tights)
Most of the below are are from Tom Ford BUT I wouldn't be wearing the whole trouser suit, more like Heidi's Celine (swap the cards for a jacket).

I need to do my AW25 bag rotation soon.

Which bag shapes, sizes and colours would you be hunting for that are already in my wardrobe? Bags would seem to be secondary to the jackets. There's a lot of texture already going on. I don't want to look like a 70s/90s/00s fashion plate (not too much anyway).

I know how these are styled, but I was thinking most will have to be hand-held(?) since with velvet and/or good jackets I like to avoid chains and cross-body. TF may not mind ruining catwalk samples, but I don't like thin shoulder straps rubbing away the pile of velvet, boucle or fur.

Hand-held, I have:
Teal (Gucci suede Babushka or python Katherine (like a Bolide)
Dark red H Bolide, suede Gucci Punch (Bolide shape) vintage Harrods accordion bag, BV Poupre tote
Navy Med or Small BV Roma
Gold/tan Bolide
Black (every shape and every size)
Brown Plume, Bolide, BV tote
Olive: no handheld
Dark green - no hand-held
Purple: Violet lizard Gucci Hysteria clutch
Grey? I'm not seeing it with these colours.
Plant of clutch evening bags in metallics or black
Aww, I own a teal velvet suit like the one in the last picture. It's a 70ies mens suit, but fits me really well without any alterations - at least it did at Christmas when I last wore it.

Not as high end as you're used to, but if you look at stores for teenagers, you should have an easier time finding jeans that fit you. They're called junior sizes in the US. Don't get the styles that are called curvy. I've worn junior jeans most of my life.
Exactly my thoughts. Some " normal" as in Not luxury brand stores offer jeans for slim teenagers that might do the trick - and does the brand really matter when the jeans look great?

Agree, baby bootcut and straight styles (depending on the width at the bottom) don't always fit well over boots unless it's a sock boot or a boot with a short narrow opening. If you like boots, skinny or narrow pants are the best way to showcase a nice pair of boots. Cropped flares and cropped wide-leg styles also allow for showing off a nice boot since they're cropped but cropped styles are not my thing. The other way is to wear a sweater dress or a fall dress with long boots which is a cute look but will not work in slushy snow or severe weather. I have two pairs of knee length boots: one in black leather and one in a lovely cognac brown soft leather. I pair these boots with skinny pants. For really bad weather I have winter boots and rain boots, all paired with thick knit skinny style pants or skinny jeans. My other fall boots are all ankle boots with one or two reaching about mid-calf length if even that. I like my ankle boots but I don't like them so much that I am willing to wear skinnies to show them off, lol, so only my longer boots get paired with skinny jeans which is actually a nice look.

Speaking of boots, question for the group: What are your favorite pair of boots? What kind of boots do you love? Do you coordinate your boots with your handbags in terms of color? Share your boot collection (Pics of bags and boots welcome.)
My absolute favourite boots are 80 ies cowgirls boots. 7 cm heels, almond point... I adore them in every colour.

I’m sure you will find more things to turn into beautiful works of Art!❤️
