I'm not a labubu person, nor a bag charm person in general, however!!! I get a good dose of whimsy in my actual bags- the Kate Spade Owl, Mr. Grumpy, anything whimsical or novelty. Bags that are furry animal themed always catch my eye. That's where I indulge the big kid inside me!
Which got me thinking, how do you cater to your whimsical side in your personal collections? Is it labubus/hello kitty/ etc., iridescent leathers and hardware, novelty bags, or something else entirely?

I mostly like a bit of shine or an interesting leather. I don’t often add charms due to the weight of the metal ones I like.

I love a bit of whimsy! You probably know I have a huge collection of bag charms. Most of mine were obtained years ago when they weren't as big or heavy. My favorites are the leather ones. Coach made a lot of cute animals about 15-20 years ago. It seems like a lot of the newer charms are bigger but less detailed, easier to mass produce. Recently, I've looked to etsy to feed my habit.

To further answer your question - I love sparkly things. I think I was a bird in my former life!

@Sparkletastic I must ask this question because I'm a little lost. What is a wellness retreat exactly? Google gave me various options; ranging from fitness bootcamps where you work out 3 times a day, to spiritual programs that are focused on therapy, yoga and meditation. The one that looked the most fun was like a "diet camp" thing where you get daily cooking lessons as part of the program! So, which of these is yours like? I hope you tell us all about the experience when you go! I also hope the break helps you feel rejuvenated and brings back some of that inner spark! (pun intended)

@DME So sad to hear about your herniated disc! Ouch! I hope your physiotherapy is successful and that is all you'll need.

@cecchetti Please don't stress about your procedure. Just focus on enjoying your days leading up to it, then it'll be over in the blink of an eye. We're here if you need support.

@dcooney4 Yes, I've had people's comments ruin a bag for me. They mean well but, once they point something out, I can't unsee it and it ruins the item.
Try not to feel bad about the Dr. Martens bag. Hopefully the new owner will love it and you'll be able to enjoy your other bags.


I only did a quick skim of a couple of random pages, so apologies to anyone I've missed out in this post! Sending positive vibes to everyone!

There are SO many different types of retreats / camps that a person could really devote themselves to whatever personal betterment interests them.

My issues are 1) peri-menopausal/post surgical weight gain and 2) loss of overall fitness (strength, endurance, flexibility, mobility, etc.). So I’m going to a camp that focuses on those things. They have different programs suitable for the morbidly obese couch potato through the amateur athlete. Half of the first day is testing to see what program is best for you.

My goals are to gain endurance, lose fat and gain muscle. I’m in the airport and, admittedly, am a little nervous.

I haven't popped in for a while. I had a few health setbacks which pulled me out of the real world for a couple of months.
I think I'd last posted when my friend gifted me a box of bags. Well, I'm still feeling overwhelmed by my collection and all these additions, so have arranged with a friend who helps at a women's shelter to donate some items. She's based in another country which is working to my benefit because they accept all sorts of things my local shelters don't. Once I'm feeling a bit stronger, I'll figure out what I can put in the packages and start preparing them.
I'm thinking some basic clothing items, hygiene items, lotions, some bags and some jewellery* from my collection that I'm not reaching for. If anyone has suggestions for things I can add in, I'm all ears!

*Edit: the jewellery is just some silver pieces and handmade bits from my earlier travels. All lightweight and free-size, so should hopefully appeal to some of the women. I'm not certain they're appropriate, but was thinking they may enjoy picking out something cute from the selection for themselves, or they can sell them if needed. Please let me know your thoughts. I'll exclude those items if the group thinks they'd be inappropriate.

Hopefully I can get this done before the end of the month and then I'll be able to update my bag stats correctly.
Looking at the pinned challenges, I think I can do Forgotten Favourites. There are a few I haven't reached for in a while and this is the nudge I needed to bring them out.

@dcooney4, I thought of you this morning when trying on a new outfit I ordered from Lilly Pulitzer. DD was sitting in my room watching TV, so I made the mistake of asking her what she thought. It’s a lot of pink and she hates pink, so I should have known better! Luckily DH liked it and I love it, so I’m not letting her dislike ruin my outfit. I’m keeping it. Maybe I’ll torture her by wearing it around her as much as pox possible.

Here’s a stock photo of the outfit from their website. My local store didn’t receive this collection and I wasn’t in the mood to drive into Virginia last weekend to check it out, so I let my store talk me into ordering instead, even though I prefer to try on in store (their return window in not great). Now I just have to return one pair of the pants since I ordered them in two sizes - just to be safe.

I am trying to shop my closet more, but this is very much a me outfit (I have something similar from fall/winter that I love), so I just had to.

I’m a geeky sci fi nerd cosplayer who loves Hello Kitty but I don’t like whimsey in my wardrobe. Ideally, I like a combo of sophistication, structure and drama with a tiny dash of sex appeal. Obviously I don’t get those in my clothes when I run to the grocery store but that being said, I’m not one for novelty clothes, bag charms, etc. BUT! I do like sparkle which my collection reflects in shapes like my Lanvin cat bag’s handle and colors like metallics.

Oh wait. I do have a pair of Hello Kitty sneakers but I wear them to geeky events primarily.

I like a combination of bag charms and scarves to add a little flair and personality. I’ve also been known to tuck a small stuffed animal inside if it’s a bigger bag and I don’t want things to slide around inside (they don’t add weight).

I'm not fully caught up with the thread but wanted to pop in and say I'm not a bag charm/novelty person. I don't really have anything whimsical in anything connected to my bag collection, but I like Thomas Bear, not so much for my bag but maybe to sit on my vanity or desk. I have a few different small Koalas floating around the house, mostly because they were gifts given to me by family and I do find them cute. I don't like labubu and don't find them to be cute. Oh, and I do have some porcelain cats and bears so I think I indulge my need for whimsy in my small figurine collection!

Thank you everyone for your good wishes regarding my procedure-if Only the result would indicate that a hysterectomy was not clinically indicated, however the scan Was abnormal..I just have to get through the hysteroscopy for now in one piece..

I’m also not a bag charm person, nor even a cuddly toy person-I buy those for my very cute Mum, who sits under a pile of them in her chair!

My cats are enough for me, they are cuddly enough, although as a little girl for a while, my whole bedroom was decorated in Pink Panther wallpaper and accessories, and my late partner called me the Panthère Rose (French for Pink Panther!).

I have no objections to buying them for others though…
