I wonder how successful this collection will be. It was huge and did well in the 2000s bc bright colours and over the top cuteness was a thing. It was everywhere, that was what fashion was at that point. Especially with the Japanese kawaii trend influence in pop culture. But now, fashion atm is more refined, classic and timeless kinda vibe. Which also explains the general flop of kusama, I think. I was just thinking to myself, would I carry a multicolour speedy rn and the answer is no. Apart from people who have loved the brand and the past collections, I'm not sure how the new gen will take to it. Will be interesting to see!
Hopefully they don't give the bags away for free to "influencers" again bc that really cheapened the kusama collection and made me think "if they're so willing to give it away for free to basically everyone, then why should I spend $4-5k on the bag?". It would make sense if the faces of the house were carrying the collections bc obviously that's a no brainer but every tom dick and Harry influencer had an unboxing of THE SAME BAG and it was so cringe.
However, I personally do hope this brings Takashi a lot of success!
I can't wait to see what the collections look like and see if there's anything I'd like to add to my collection! I want cherries and rainbow flowers!
