2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

I went to the dentist, so I carried my black Coach. I know it isn’t obvious why B should follow from A, but for some reason, it’s what I carry to the dentist these days. The oral surgeon was just checking that I was healing properly from the extraction, and I was. He gave me, though, an opinion contrary to what my main dentist said. My dentist told me I had a “deep bite” and it was part of the cause of my tooth problems. A colleague of mine said she had the same issue and had ground her teeth so much she made a hole in her tooth. But then when I was talking to the oral surgeon about it, he said it was mostly cosmetic, I didn’t really need it, and it probably wouldn’t solve my woes. I mentioned that indeed I couldn’t find good stats on improvement in dental health due to Invisalign and he said that there were not good stats on it. Hmm, more to think about, as I don’t want to spend all that money and go through all that discomfort just for a cosmetic change. I have a gap, but I don’t think it looks that bad that I would do Invisalign just for that.

Anyway

In my experience, I was told that the gap in my tooth wouldn't be corrected just through invisalign. I'd have to get veneers at the risk of looking uncanny. My gap is a part of my genetic legacy, one that I'd rather leave untouched. I'm sure it's dependent upon its size. I hope your appointment wasn't too stressful.

Sharing my pink and blue bags late but at least as of tomorrow I’ll be caught up and ready to show green.

My pinks. I could probably have an entire closet full of pale pink bags, if I had PowerBall money.

And blue - going to count my Coach Marlie as blue instead of green. It’s teal, or more truthfully ocean blue so it fits. Blue is not a handbag color I gravitate towards.

The Invisalign tech did tell me, too, that many people don't want their gap touched. I prefer a natural gap to veneers, personally. I really don't mind mine much. Like, why do we all have to have these uniform manufactured teeth, lol? Mine comes with an overbite, though, so I guess that is the real problem. Or is it? I don't think it's that severe, and the oral surgeon watched my bite and literally said "it's not that bad". And I was here thinking I had some terrible deformity or something. I spent some time today watching Invisalign videos, and of course I should have realized, but it hurts! Every time you change the tray, it hurts for the first few days. And then my treatment plan is for 9-14 months! And he further said other than the cosmetic change, it doesn't necessarily solve any other 'problem.' Girl, I don't know. But what if the dentist is right? I'll keep thinking ...

You've gone this long without. I wear a mouthguard at night to stop grinding my teeth and I imagine it feels like invisalign. I guess my teeth must have shifted between the time they made the guard and I got it because it hurt a lot when I first got it. It is still uncomfortable. I've been using it nearly 2 years.

My SIL talked with a lisp most of her life until she finally got braces in her 40s. In her case, I believe it improved her quality of life.

I lost one of my molars. The dentist was talking like I had to get an implant to replace it or my teeth would misalign. The oral surgeon said it was no big deal, so I didn't do anything and he was right. I've been fine without it.

It feels like the past couple of months have been rough for a fair few of us. I'm waiting for my mum's covid test results as I type this. I've never seen her this ill.
I just wanted to share some :hugs: in case anyone needs them. Hopefully better days are ahead.

Thank goodness for tpf and the distraction it brings. The bags in the colour week showcase have been stunning, and I'm always amazed at how much our individual personalities shine through our bag choices.

Would you consider getting a third opinion? That's what I have done when I've had 2 different doctor's recommendations. It often clears things up for me.

Yup!
I wear invisalyne at night and my dentist said it will act as a night guard to keep me from grinding
@nyeredzi , it seems as we age that the teeth keep shifting. It doesn’t sound like you want to do it now, but it’s LWAYS an option for the future. :)
